Chapter 261 - Chapter 261: The Pokémoya Civilization

Saying goodbye to the archaeological team, Ash and Misty returned home. Mr. Mime was preparing dinner, and Delia was giving him occasional pointers.

During this time, Mr. Mime, who was extremely particular about housework, had taken charge of most of the chores in Ash's home. Whether it was washing, cooking, or cleaning, he handled most of it.

It wasn't that Ash or Delia wanted to slack off, but Mr. Mime had an unusual obsession with housework. If he were a better cook, he wouldn't even want Delia to intervene.

Not only inside the house, but Mr. Mime had also taken over the small garden outside. He planted flowers, grass, and even some vegetables and fruits without permission.

After dinner and cleaning up, Ash and Pikachu went back to his room. Lying on the bed, Ash thought about the archaeological team.

Because so much time had passed, Ash had forgotten most of the ordinary, daily events. But he still vaguely remembered the plot involving the archaeological team, because it was one of the few Pokémon series where ordinary Pokémon appeared in gigantic sizes.

He recalled the ancient Alakazam and the ancient Gengar!

Of course, he only remembered their existence. As for the events surrounding them, Ash couldn't recall any details, but it seemed the situation was resolved without incident.

"I'll go to Professor Oak tomorrow and ask. Maybe he'll know something..." Ash thought. Since the archaeological team was headed to a site near Professor Oak's lab, he believed the professor would have some understanding of the matter.

Early the next morning, Ash woke up and did some light exercise with his Pokémon. When he returned home for breakfast, he suggested taking a day off from training at Professor Oak's lab.

Misty naturally had no objections and was even a little happy. After half a month of intense training every day, a day off was a welcome break.

The two left home and went to Professor Oak's Laboratory, where Brock greeted them. He had learned a lot from Professor Oak in the past half-month.

"The archaeological team did come to visit Professor Oak yesterday, and they have already set off for the mountainous region," Brock explained while walking with Ash and Misty to find Professor Oak.

"What kind of ancient history are they investigating?" Misty asked curiously. Ancient history spanned a vast period, with the earliest records dating back to the age of mythology.

"It seems to be a dynasty that fell overnight..." Brock wasn't entirely sure, as he wasn't particularly interested in the subject and had only overheard some information.

"A dynasty that fell overnight?!" Ash and Misty were surprised. A historical dynasty implied significant power, but to decline overnight was astonishing.

"I don't know the details, but Professor Oak should," Brock said, shaking his head.

After a while, the three of them found the research room where Professor Oak was working.

"Professor, Ash and Misty need to speak with you," Brock said through the intercom at the door, without entering the research room.

"I see, wait for me," Professor Oak's voice came from the intercom. Two or three minutes later, the door opened, and Professor Oak walked out.

"What can I do for you?" Professor Oak seemed a little busy and asked directly, skipping any pleasantries.

"We apologize for bothering you, Professor..." Ash, knowing that Professor Oak wasn't as casual as he appeared in the anime, got straight to the point.

"The archaeological team... I do know something about them. They're looking for the remains of the Pokémoya civilization," Professor Oak nodded slightly and explained.

"The Pokémoya civilization... I think I've heard of it..." Brock said, trying to recall any information about it.

"It was a civilization from 20,000 years ago. They established a dynasty with influence all over the world. The Kanto region wasn't their capital, but they left behind some relics," Professor Oak explained.

"20,000 years ago?!" Ash, Misty, and Brock exclaimed. 20,000 years was truly ancient.

"I remember!" Brock, after being reminded by Professor Oak, recalled some information about the civilization. "Professor, if this civilization was so powerful, why did it fall overnight?"

"It's a bit of an exaggeration to say it happened overnight, but it's not far from the truth. The real reason hasn't been found yet, but some scholars speculate it may be related to a meteor shower that fell on our planet 20,000 years ago," Professor Oak said. He wasn't a historian and didn't have extensive knowledge of the subject.

"It is also true that, as the edge of the region shrouded by the Pokémon civilization dynasty, the Kanto Region has not suffered much damage, but after all, the main body of the dynasty has disappeared.

Gradually, everything about this civilization was eliminated by history," continued Professor Oak.

"Did a meteor shower destroy a civilization?" The three of Ash couldn't help sighing; such a powerful civilization was still unable to resist the power of nature.

"Where was the capital of the Pokémon civilization?" Misty asked curiously.

"It's the current Galar Region," Professor Oak said after thinking about it.

"Galar Region..." Brock and Misty were okay; they had heard of the Galar Region but didn't know much about it.

But Ash was different. He was stunned for a moment. The Galar Region was very special. Although he had never watched the anime about the Galar Region and only played the game once, he also knew a little about the Galar Region.

The Galar Region was full of energy called 'Dynamax'. This energy could make Pokémon Dynamax and Gigantamax. This reminded Ash of the ancient Alakazam and ancient Gengar. The size of these two was no smaller than the Pokémon after Dynamax and Gigantamax!

It's just that Ash didn't know about Alakazam's Gigantamax form, but Ash had seen Gengar's Gigantamax form, which was completely different from the ancient Gengar's appearance.

Ancient Gengar only became bigger in size, and its appearance was still the original Gengar.

But the Gigantamax Gengar was like a hill. Its front mouth had turned into a door to the abyss, which was extremely terrifying.
