Chapter 229 - Chapter 229 Return To The Laboratory

Yesterday's dinner wasn't too late; Delia had to go to work on the ranch the next day, even though Ash's current allowance, or salary, was enough for Delia's daily expenses.

But, in Delia's words, how could she not work when she was still so young? The work on the ranch was not too difficult, and the owner of the ranch usually gave them food as gifts.

Persuasion was ineffective, and Ash could only watch Delia go to work.

"Shall we go to Professor Oak's Laboratory later?" Brock was very curious about Professor Oak's Laboratory and asked while packing up the tableware with Ash.

"No problem, I'm going to the Laboratory later, too." Ash nodded slightly.

After tidying up and feeding the Pokémon breakfast, the three of them got ready before leaving the house and heading to Professor Oak's Laboratory.

Professor Oak's Laboratory was located on the edge of the town; they needed to cross a creek to get there. Although the location was near the edge, it was also a great place.

The Laboratory occupied a very large area. It wasn't just a simple Laboratory, but it also had a large area of grassland, connected with mountains and the sea, and there were artificial forests and lakes in it.

It was precisely because of the diversity of this place that Professor Oak chose to build the Laboratory here, not just because Pallet Town was his hometown.

There were many ways to give back to one's hometown, but the location of the Laboratory was very important. It was impossible for Professor Oak to choose to build the Laboratory here just to give back to his hometown.

"Behind here is the backyard of Professor Oak's Laboratory."

Before arriving at the Laboratory, they could see the building built on the hillside from a distance.

After crossing the wooden bridge and going down the hillside, Ash pointed at the Laboratory. "The fence can almost be called endless," he said, introducing it to Brock and Misty.

"This is so big?!" Knowing that all the places inside the fence belonged to the Laboratory, Brock and Misty looked stunned. This kind of range could almost be compared with the wild wilderness area, right?

"There are many Pokémon living in it. In addition to the Trainer's Pokémon who are familiar with Professor Oak, there are also a lot of Wild Pokémon, because Professor Oak wants to study their habits and so on." Ash explained, and then rang the doorbell.

"Hello." Soon the call connected, and a young man's voice came from inside. He was a researcher in the Laboratory. Ash knew him. He was not one of Professor Oak's students, but he was learning under Professor Oak.

"Long time no see, Awei, it's Ash." Ash said with a smile.

"Ah! It's Ash! Come in!" After hearing that it was Ash, the young man called Awei became excited and hurriedly opened the gate of the fence.

Ash led Brock and Misty up the stairs to the Laboratory. At the entrance of the Laboratory, a young man in his twenties was looking at them with a smile on his face.

"It's amazing, Ash, you actually recovered the wild Aerodactyl!" Before Ash could greet the young man, he immediately spoke to Ash excitedly.

"Good luck." Ash didn't mind, because this young man had that kind of personality.

"Hi, I'm Brock (Misty), nice to meet you." Brock and Misty greeted the young man at the same time.

"Hi, hello, just call me Awei, and I'm working in Professor Oak's Laboratory now." Awei greeted the two of them and led them into the Laboratory.

The Laboratory was quite big, and Awei wasn't the only one working in it, but most of the researchers were doing research in the lab at this time, and only Awei was receiving them.

"Where's the Professor?" Sitting on the sofa in the reception room, Ash asked curiously.

"The Professor went to the back to observe the Pokémon, your Aerodactyl." Awei explained casually as he prepared to pour water for the three of them.

"Since that's the case, there's no need to pour water for us, we can just go to the back." Ash stopped Awei. They hadn't come to the Laboratory to sit around.

"That's fine." Awei directly led the three of them to the back door of the Laboratory and then to the great plain beside the temple.

"A lot of Pokémon!" Although it was only a small part of the Laboratory, there were many Pokémon living there, which made Brock and Misty exclaim in surprise.

"Except for some Trainers' Pokémon, most of them are wild Pokémon. Because the living conditions here are good, Pokémon keep coming to live here," Awei explained.

"Where's my Tauros, Beedrill, and Aerodactyl?" Ash asked.

"Right now, they should be on the other side of the mountain." Awei thought about the direction Professor Oak had left in and pointed to the mountainous terrain to the west.

"Where are they?" Ash was a little surprised because Tauros and Beedrill shouldn't be used to surviving in that kind of terrain.

"The Professor should have told you that Aerodactyl and Beedrill get along very well, and Tauros and Beedrill also get along well. Besides, Tauros can be used as a means of transportation..."

Awei seemed a little embarrassed while talking, after all, Tauros was Ash's Pokémon.

"I see..." Ash nodded slightly and didn't mind. "Then we'll go find the Professor; you don't have to follow us."

"You're more familiar with the Laboratory than I am, of course you don't need me to follow, plus you're so powerful now." Awei smiled, then turned and returned to the Laboratory. He still had his own research to finish.

"Let's go find the Professor." Ash called to Misty and Brock, and they walked towards the mountainous terrain to the west.

There was a prairie in front of them. Many Pokémon lived on the prairie, and there was a huge man-made lake. In addition to being a source of water, it was also a habitat for some Pokémon adapted to freshwater.

The south led to the sea; the east was the forest terrain, which was originally grassland, but had been transformed into a forest by the Professor; the west was the mountain terrain, which was not a forest, but a rocky, mountainous terrain.

There was also a small patch of desert and swamp terrain in the eastern direction, but it couldn't be seen because it was blocked by the forest. Ash promised he would take Brock and Misty there to see it in the future.

After walking for nearly half an hour, Ash and his friends finally arrived at the outskirts of the mountain terrain. However, the area was quite large, and it wasn't easy to find Professor Oak, but Ash had a plan.

"Pidgeot, please find Professor Oak, or Aerodactyl." Ash released Pidgeot to find Professor Oak and the others.
