Fuchsia City, a large city located in the southwest of the Kanto Region, has many cherry blossom trees planted throughout. Every spring, the cherry blossoms bloom, dyeing the whole city pink.
Fuchsia, the gorgeous pink color often associated with contests, inspired the city's name.
Although Fuchsia City isn't particularly prosperous and lacks famous specialties, its surrounding wilderness area is renowned. Due to its proximity to Fuchsia City, the wilderness is practically considered a part of it.
Despite not being a bustling metropolis, Fuchsia City's economy thrives, thanks to the wilderness area and the Gym. These attractions draw in challengers and trainers, contributing to the city's economic development.
In fact, the Fuchsia Gym was partly established to safeguard the wilderness area. Koga, the Gym Leader, hails from a lineage of ninja residing in the area, and his family boasts considerable strength.
Koga, the current gym leader, possesses Elite Four-level power. Had he been chosen over Lorelei or Bruno to replace Agatha, an older Elite Four member, he likely would have become one of the new Kanto League Elite Four.
After leaving the wilderness area, Ash and his companions opted for a specialized vehicle instead of walking to Fuchsia City. An hour's journey later, they arrived at Fuchsia City's northern entrance.
Since the vehicle couldn't enter the city, Ash and his friends had to walk to the Pokémon Center.
As they strolled through Fuchsia City's streets, Misty couldn't help but feel a pang of regret that she was missing the cherry blossom season. However, she quickly cheered up, remembering her promise to Ash to revisit the city together during spring and give Brock a taste of their affection.
About half an hour later, Ash and his group located the Pokémon Center, thanks to the distinctive Japanese-style courtyard—or rather, Kanto Region-style—standing beside it.
This courtyard housed the Fuchsia Gym.
As evening approached and the Gym's challenge period ended, trainers emerged from the building. Besides challengers, many trainers visited the Gym to observe battles and learn.
The Gym also accepted students, primarily trainers specializing in Poison-type Pokémon, as the Gym itself specialized in this type.
Ash and his friends didn't linger for long. After a quick look around, they headed to the Pokémon Center to check in.
"Another day of Gym challenges..." a middle-aged man in a purple ninja outfit and short hair emerged from the Fuchsia Gym. Standing in the courtyard, he gazed at the setting sun and sighed.
"Dad! Dad!" a cheerful voice called out, snapping the man out of his thoughts. He turned to see his daughter, Janine, a young girl with short purple hair. Though only ten years old, Janine already exuded a heroic aura.
Janine ran towards her father with a bright smile, and he responded with a rare grin, squatting down and opening his arms to her.
"Dad!" Janine threw herself into her father's embrace, then looked up at him. "Dad, I defeated seven trainers today! Isn't that amazing?"
"Of course, Janine! Defeating seven trainers is an incredible feat!" the man praised, patting her head.
"Janine is hardworking and talented..." a graceful woman with long, dark green hair tied in a ponytail appeared behind the man. Her bangs were slightly curled, adding to her charm.
"At Janine's age, I didn't possess her strength," the woman remarked, looking at Janine with a hint of envy. "Talent truly is important."
"Our family has a natural affinity for Poison-type Pokémon, making them easier to train than other types. Janine can be considered the most gifted of the next generation," the man said with a proud smile.
"Soon, I'll surpass Auntie, then you, Dad, and become the Fuchsia Gym Leader!" Janine declared confidently, breaking free from her father's embrace and placing her hands on her hips.
The man and woman couldn't help but chuckle at Janine's bold statement.
"Alright, let's head home!" the man said, standing up and patting Janine's head. As they walked towards the building next to the Gym, patrol personnel greeted them with bows and respectful nods.
"Thank you for your hard work," the man responded with a smile, and Janine followed suit, displaying a polite demeanor despite her father's position.
After dinner, Janine went to take a shower, leaving her father and aunt in the living room.
"Brother, are you planning to leave the Kanto Region?" the woman asked after a moment of silence.
"Did you notice?" the man replied, startled but then smiled and nodded. "Yes, I failed this year's Elite Four challenge. I'll have to
"But if I go to the Johto Alliance, I still have the opportunity to challenge, and Lance also invited me to go there."
"But... Janine is still so young..." Hearing what her brother said, the young woman said anxiously, "Can't you wait until next year to challenge the Kanto Alliance's Elite Four?"
"Aya...my strength is still not strong enough..." The man shook his head slightly, becoming a little depressed. "Don't underestimate Lorelei who has only been an Elite Four for two years, but her strength is not as simple as it appears on the surface."
"Bruno, as the veteran Elite Four of the Johto Alliance, has extraordinary strength; not to mention Lance, he is a champion."
"I challenged Master Agatha this year. It seemed to others that I made a mistake, but in fact, I had a chance only when I faced Master Agatha, but I still failed in the end." The man sighed.
If possible, why wouldn't he want to stay in the Kanto Region, the place where he was born and raised?
"Elite Four...is it really that important..." Aya looked at her elder brother with a complicated expression. She didn't understand why the Elite Four was so important to her elder brother.
"You don't understand..." The man turned his head and looked towards the door outside the courtyard. At this time, the sky had completely dimmed. The Elite Four was his dream!
