Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: The Kiss

In the car, Fu Rong sat in the farthest corner, her head lowered, her face as red as a beet from embarrassment. She could hardly believe what had happened. Had she really kissed Mu Ling while she was unconscious? She kept replaying the moment in her mind, feeling her heart race with every thought. Yes, she knew Mu Ling was the "walking Yang pill" she had heard so much about, but how had she lost control like that? The whole situation felt surreal, and the more she thought about it, the more mortified she became.

Unable to process what had happened, Fu Rong didn't dare to look up at Mu Ling. Her mind was swirling with thoughts of what he must think of her now. "He probably thinks I'm either a promiscuous woman or that I've taken a fancy to him," she mused, feeling a pit form in her stomach. Both scenarios made her cringe.

"I... I'm sorry," she finally whispered, her voice barely audible, breaking the silence that had filled the car. "I never meant to kiss you." Her face grew even warmer, if that was possible, and she cursed herself for being in such a ridiculous situation.

Mu Ling, who had been in quite a good mood ever since the unexpected kiss, felt a chill wash over him at her apology. His once warm eyes darkened, and the atmosphere in the car turned cold. Fu Rong felt it immediately. The temperature seemed to drop, and an icy shiver ran down her spine. She turned to glance at Mu Ling, only to find his gaze fixed on her, cold and unreadable. Was he angry? What did she do now?

"Hmm... It's not like he lost anything," Fu Rong muttered under her breath, trying to reason with herself. "I even gave him my first kiss. What could he possibly be upset about?"

Mu Ling's keen hearing picked up her soft words, and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly. His mood lightened a little after realizing that it was her first kiss. That knowledge pleased him in a way he didn't fully understand.

"Miss Fu," he finally spoke, his deep voice breaking the silence. "I want to ask you—what exactly are you apologizing for?"

Fu Rong's head snapped up, taken aback by his question. "I'm apologizing for kissing you suddenly and invading your privacy," she explained, her voice still soft but steady, her eyes fixed on her lap.

However, her apology seemed to have the opposite effect on Mu Ling. His mood, which had momentarily improved, darkened again, and the temperature in the car seemed to drop even further. Fu Rong shivered under his cold stare.

"So, Miss Fu," Mu Ling said through gritted teeth, his voice laced with restrained anger, "you think I'm angry because you kissed me suddenly and invaded my privacy?"

Now, Fu Rong was thoroughly confused. Why is he so angry? she wondered. I've apologized, haven't I? What more does he want from me? Growing frustrated and impatient, she silently cursed Mu Ling. Why does this man have to make things so difficult?

Before she could say anything more, Mu Ling moved closer, his large frame dominating the small space. He leaned forward, his hands coming to rest on either side of her, effectively trapping her between him and the car door. Fu Rong's breath hitched. His intense gaze flickered down to her lips, and she noticed his Adam's apple bob as he swallowed.

The car was eerily silent. The only sounds were their racing heartbeats. The partition between the front and back seats had been raised, giving them privacy. Fu Rong's face flushed as she realized how close they were. She instinctively tried to move back, but the car door was behind her, offering no escape.

Mu Ling's voice was low and dangerously calm as he leaned in closer to her ear. "So, Miss Fu," he murmured, his breath warm against her skin, "you kissed me and now you don't want to take responsibility?"

Fu Rong's eyes widened at his words. "Why does this sound like I'm the villain in some romantic drama?" she thought, flustered and unsure of how to respond. "Fifth Master, what are you talking about? Are you slandering me?" she asked, her voice rising slightly, laced with guilt.

Mu Ling's lips curled into a faint smile as he heard the nervousness in her voice. "Then tell me," he continued, his voice teasing but firm, "is it right to kiss someone and then refuse to take responsibility?"

He moved even closer, his lips brushing against her ear as he spoke, sending a shockwave through Fu Rong's body. The tickling sensation made her heart race, and for a moment, her mind went blank.

"What do you want me to do, Mu Ling?" she finally asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She tried to push him away, but it was a futile effort. He was much stronger, and the small space of the car left her no room to maneuver. Her palms pressed against his chest, but he didn't budge an inch.

"What do I want you to do?" he repeated, his voice low and velvety voice.
