Fu Rong went to the restroom and looked in the mirror. She thought about the images she had seen when Bo Cheng touched her hand. Though he was a stranger, he was a friend of Mu Ling and Xie Bowen. She couldn't let him die, considering him only a passerby, but interfering with fate would result in divine punishment. Should I alert him? she thought.
She immediately turned on the tap and splashed her face with cold water twice to calm herself down. As she was regaining her composure, she heard a familiar, irritating voice.
"Whoa, is it our classmate Fu? What are you doing here? How can a pauper like you enter the Imperial Capital restaurant?" Hai Tingyang walked in with her friends and blocked Fu Rong's path.
Fu Sheng had many business enemies, and danger always lurked around him. To avoid it, Fu Rong and her brother always concealed their identities at school. Bai Yan had used this to spread rumors that Fu Rong came from a poor family.
Fu Rong had never revealed any personal information, so the students assumed she came from an insignificant background and was too embarrassed to disclose her family's situation. In her past life, she had been a timid girl, and people took that for granted, bullying her. Hai Tingyang, an ex-classmate from the elite class and Bai Yan's fair-weather friend, had been one of her main tormentors.
In her past life, she had suffered greatly at the hands of Hai Tingyang and her friends. But she was no longer a timid girl and would never allow anyone to bully her again.
"Scram," Fu Rong said coldly, glaring at Hai Tingyang.
Hai Tingyang was stunned. Fu Rong had always been timid, and even when bullied, she would lower her head and remain quiet. But now, the drastic change in her demeanor was unmistakable. Composing herself, Hai Tingyang raised her hand to slap Fu Rong for humiliating her.
Fu Rong anticipated her move, caught her hand, and slapped her in return.
"You... How dare you slap me?" Hai Tingyang cried, attempting to retaliate, but Fu Rong slapped her again.
"Hai Tingyang, move aside. You can't afford the consequences if you stop me again." Fu Rong wasn't interested in these childish fights, so she pushed Hai Tingyang aside and left the restroom, leaving her in shock.
Fu Rong composed herself and returned to the private room. The three men looked in her direction and invited her to sit. The rest of the dinner was silent. Mu Ling noticed the changes in Fu Rong but said nothing.
"Young Master Bo, I advise you to book a room here for your stay tonight. You may face danger if you leave," Fu Rong said to Bo Cheng. After delivering her warning, her body ached with divine punishment since she had initiated the prediction without him asking for it. She suppressed the metallic taste rising in her throat, and her face turned pale.
Bo Cheng was shocked but didn't take her words seriously. "Miss Fu, how do you know there is danger ahead?" he asked her with a laugh. He couldn't afford to be rude to her, knowing Mu Ling's interest in her. She was also familiar with Xie Bowen and had saved them both at the harbor.
Xie Bowen, who was walking toward them with Mu Ling, overheard Bo Cheng and looked at Fu Rong. Narrowing his eyes, he turned to Bo Cheng. "Bo Cheng, what are you asking my little sister? Are you trying to scare her?"
"Haha, why would I scare your little sister? She told me there was danger ahead, and I simply asked how she knew," Bo Cheng replied, amused by how Xie Bowen was defending Fu Rong.
"Sister Fu, did you really tell him that?" Xie Bowen's eyes widened in fear. He knew very well what would happen if Fu Rong alerted someone about danger. He turned back to Bo Cheng and asked what exactly she had said. After hearing it in full, his expression darkened.
"Bo Cheng, listen to Sister Fu. She's an expert in divination, far more powerful than you can imagine. She saved my aunt and helped the Fifth Master and me at the harbor. You'd better stay here. I'll accompany you," Xie Bowen lectured him, but before Bo Cheng could respond, he received a call.
