Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: Great rewards

Although no Pokémon dared to attack Ashborn directly, other challenges remained, such as his body's resilience and resistance to physical attacks.

Considering this, Ashborn sent out Lucario.

"You don't I think I've been lifted up by my master just now?" Metagross asked.

"What the hell, you didn't wake up till now or what?" Lucario replied.

Seeing the two Pokémon interact, especially the usually stoic Metagross, Ashborn coughed and said,

"Lucario, come and punch me with one hundred pounds of force."

Lucario, being a Fighting-type Pokémon with excellent control over his strength, was the perfect candidate for this test.

He could exert exactly one hundred pounds of force without gaining a single gram. In contrast, Metagross could easily deliver two hundred pounds.

A normal person hit with one hundred pounds of force would likely experience severe pain but might not be fatally injured.

"The master tells you to hit him. Just hit him and don't be surprised," Metagross warned Lucario.

Lucario looked at the unusual Ashborn and Metagross but punched Ashborn at slow speed.

Ashborn instinctively stepped to the left.

"Cough, try my reflexes first. Gradually increase the speed of your punches," Ashborn said.Lucario's initial punch would have been impossible to dodge for a normal person, but Ashborn easily evaded it.

Lucario realized that his master was somewhat abnormal.

He increased his speed to one-fifth and tried again. Ashborn dodged.

Then he increased it to one-quarter and tried again. Ashborn dodged. Finally, at one-third speed, Lucario landed a hit, delivering one hundred pounds of force.

Ashborn seemed barely affected.

If it weren't for the familiar aura emanating from his body, Lucario would have thought Ashborn was a Ditto in disguise.

How had his body suddenly become so strong?

After a series of tests, Ashborn gained a better understanding of his Mega Pallet Town physique.

His body had significantly improved in speed, strength, reaction time, and fighting ability.

While the exact extent of these improvements was unknown, Ashborn was confident that he no longer needed to worry about dying in a Pokémon battle.

He gave a Rare Candy to Metagross, raising its level from 51 to 54.

Lucario had no objections, as Metagross was the strongest among them, and the stronger Metagross became, the stronger Ashborn would be.

At level 61, Metagross could reach the pseudo-Elite tier, a new and exciting challenge.

Before going to Imperial University, Ashborn aimed to elevate Metagross to the peak of the first-tier.

With the three newly acquired Mewtwo shards, combined with his previous seven, Ashborn was only ninety shards away from summoning Mewtwo.

"Extract Psychic," Ashborn commanded.

As he extracted intermediate Psychic energy, Ashborn felt his Aura power surge instantly.

The uncontrolled Psychic energy caused objects in the room to float in the air.

Seeing this, Metagross immediately used its own Psychic to suppress Ashborn's unconscious Psychic and looked at him with concern.

"It's okay. I just awakened Psychic," Ashborn reassured the worried Pokémon.

Intermediate Psychic allowed for telepathic communication with both Pokémon and humans, although it was currently one-way unless the other party also had telepathic abilities.

Metagross, with its Steel and Psychic types, could now benefit from Ashborn's awakened Psychic.

Combining their Psychic abilities would further enhance their combined strength.

Psychic also served as a radar, allowing Ashborn to perceive everything within a 500-meter radius.

However, increasing the range would consume more mental power, limiting its duration.

Another important role of Psychic was to extend the duration of Pokémon Mega Evolution.

The length of Mega Evolution depended on the trainer's physical and mental power. If either was exhausted, the Pokémon would revert to its normal form.

Psychic was essentially mental power. When mental power reached a certain level, Psychic would emerge, and the two were interconnected.

Ashborn, with his Mega Pallet Town physique, terrifying physical strength, and now Psychic abilities, was a formidable force.

His Mega Evolution would undoubtedly strike fear into his opponents.

In the future, Ashborn envisioned himself moving through the air rather than walking. He then turned his attention to the final reward: Soul of Totem.

This item could transform a Pokémon below level 10 into a Totem Pokémon.

Totem Pokémon were a unique type of Pokémon distinct from ordinary Pokémon and Flash Pokémon.

Flash Pokémon differed in color, while Totem Pokémon differed in size. Totem Pokémon were more than twice the size of their peers.

The leader of a clan wasn't necessarily a Totem Pokémon, but a Totem Pokémon was always a clan leader.Like Flash Pokémon, Totem Pokémon were rare.

Unlike Flash Pokémon, Totem Pokémon primarily appeared in the wild, secret realms, or ruins, and were rarely cultivated by humans.

Flash Pokémon involved a probability factor.

If there were enough Pokémon of the same species, Flash Pokémon would occasionally appear. For example, Magikarp district was known for its abundance of Flash Pokémon.

Golden Magikarp, Black Magikarp, Purple Magikarp, Blue Magikarp, and other variants appeared annually in some auctions.

A lucky fisherman might catch one and sell it for a significant profit.

However, unless a heterochromatic Magikarp evolved into Gyarados, its primary role was ornamental.

The Lavanny City Aquarium had a golden Magikarp that had remained unchanged for over ten years.

The Soul of Totem had level restrictions, making it unsuitable for Ashborn's current Pokémon.

He would have to wait for a suitable Pokémon to use it later.

Ashborn was not in a hurry. Overall, the rewards from the main quest were definitely worth it, and he now had the ability to protect himself.

He no longer needed to worry about being killed by a random wild Pokémon.

Now, Ashborn eagerly awaited the release of the main quest, which was typically related to his encounters.
