Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Aggron

"Metagross's speed is incredible! It's definitely twice, or even three times faster than other Metagross of the same level,"

exclaimed Host Bowan . As a seasoned host of numerous large-scale competitions, including Elite-level events, Bowan possessed extensive knowledge and had encountered countless pseudo-legendary Pokémon.

He had seen his fair share of Metagross, all of the normal blue variety. However, even pseudo-Elite Metagross paled in comparison to Ashborn's Metagross in terms of speed.

"This Metagross likely has the hidden ability Light Metal. Most Metagross have the ability Clear Body, but Light Metal halves the Pokémon's weight,"

Observed Mr.Kane , the astute president of the Lavanny City Trainer Association. He had immediately recognized the distinction in Ashborn's Metagross.

"Even with Light Metal, its speed is exceptional for its level. Ashborn must have provided Metagross with numerous speed-enhancing treasures or potions," Mr.Kane speculated.

It wasn't just speed-enhancing substances; Metagross consumed a substantial amount of potions that boosted all five of its base stats.

Its appetite was prodigious, equaling the combined intake of Dragonair, Lucario, and Meltan, multiplied by two, plus one.

This was Ashborn's strategy for raising Pokémon: prioritize Metagross's training, then focus on the others.

"Pupitar, use Rock Throw!" Oliver Chirst commanded.

A barrage of boulders plummeted from the sky, aiming to obstruct Metagross's advance.

Oliver Chirst hoped to prevent Metagross from closing the distance, as Pupitar, in its unevolved state, was no match for the four-armed Metagross in close combat.

The boulders rained down, but Metagross remained undeterred, pressing forward as the rocks struck its metallic body. After enduring seven or eight impacts, Metagross finally reached Pupitar.

Oliver Chirst, caught off guard by Metagross's relentless approach, hastily shouted,

"Pupitar, Protect!"

Protect was a crucial move that nearly all trainers taught their Pokémon.

As long as the opponent's attack didn't exceed the damage threshold of Protect, the move would shield the Pokémon from harm.

"Meteor Mash!"

Ashborn commanded. Metagross abruptly halted before the protective barrier, its forearms radiating with a vibrant, multicolored light, reminiscent of a comet streaking across the night sky.

Within the confines of Protect, Pupitar's eyelids twitched nervously.

Meteor Mash collided with Protect, and the two energies clashed momentarily. Seeing that the barrier held firm, Oliver Chirst breathed a sigh of relief.

However, his relief was short-lived. The next second, he heard a cracking sound, and his expression tightened.

Pupitar watched in horror as Protect shattered, and Metagross's Meteor Mash slammed into its face with bone-jarring force. A dent appeared in Pupitar's normally impenetrable shell.

Thanks to Protect and its sturdy shell, Pupitar managed to withstand the full brunt of Meteor Mash and avoid being knocked out in a single blow.

As Pupitar was sent flying and Metagross gave chase, Oliver Chirst swiftly recalled his Pokémon.

Match Trainers were allowed one Pokémon substitution during a battle.

Deploying a more suitable Pokémon at the opportune moment was a tactical maneuver that could potentially turn the tide of a match.

"Go, Aggron!"

Oliver Chirst summoned his next Pokémon. A massive, silver behemoth emerged onto the battlefield, its imposing armor gleaming under the arena lights.

 ---------

Most people know that Aggron is a Steel-type Pokémon, but they subconsciously forget that it also has the Rock-type.

The two most famous Pokémon in the Denver State are Metagross and Aggron, the latter of which is also known as the Oreburgh Bulwark.

Except for Ground and Fighting, which deal four times the damage, and Water, which deals double damage, other Types hit it with normal damage, and most of them are half damage, or even a quarter damage.

It is because of this defensive power that Aggron has earned the name Oreburgh Bulwark.

Most of the Aggrons on the market came from the Zovic family during the Aron period, so their Potential is only green.

The Zovic family doesn't have enough Arons with cyan Potential for themselves, let alone Ashborn. This is because cyan-potential Arons are yet to appear.

Aggrons are few in number, and breeding them is difficult. It takes a bit of luck for an Aron with cyan Potential to appear.

Ashborn's grandfather and father both have blue-potential Aggron, but unfortunately, they are both male. If one had been female, their offspring would have at least been blue-potential.

Among Ashborn's Pokémon, only Metagross, split from his grandfather's pseudo-champion-level Metagross, was born with blue Potential.

The other three Pokémon weren't given to him by the family as a Breeder.

Lucario and the Meltan were obtained from the Lestel family, while Dragonair was given by the system. All three Pokémon have Potentials of cyan and above.

"Aggron, use Iron Defense!"

For the first time, Oliver Chirst chose to increase his defense, likely because Metagross's powerful attack had shaken his confidence.

A flash of silver light indicated that Aggron's defense had been boosted.

"Player Oliver's Aggron's defense has been strengthened. It remains to be seen if Metagross can break through its armor,"

Said Host Zhou excitedly, looking forward to the battle between two of the most famous Pokémon in the Silver State.

Many people shared the same sentiment.

"This is a competition between the strongest spear and the strongest shield."

"Damn, isn't Metagross's defense weak?"

"To be honest, Aggron is better defensively."

"You haven't noticed that Ashborn's Metagross's stats are extraordinary in every aspect."

"As a pseudo-Elite Trainer, I can responsibly tell you that the five base stats of Ashborn's Metagross must be much higher than those of other Metagross of the same level."

"I worship the pseudo-Elite boss upstairs!"

"Aggron is so scary; how can my husband have such a scary Pokémon?"

"Chirst, come on, come on, come on!"

"Superficial woman, doesn't our Ashborn have a good-looking face? That guy is a sissy. Fight if you don't accept it."

"Brothers, protect our cause!"
