Chapter 6 - Chapter 2.1

Yerik heaved a long suffering sigh as the two boys beside him started talking, again. Oh lord help him. As soon as a match between the medicine and law department even remotely comes closer, this whole thing starts.

"Look, Yerik- listen. You gotta listen to us, man," his friend, Jacob, said, slinging an arm around his shoulder. Jacob was a big guy, almost a head taller than Yerik, who was pretty tall himself. He had wispy brown hair and an intimidating face, though he was a softie once you got to know him.

"Yeah. It's about department loyalty, love." His other friend, Felix, chimed in. He was the shortest one in the group, and everyone was his 'darling' or 'love' or 'sweetheart'. Though he didn't dare to call Yerik that in front of Ethan. God knows what sort of conclusion the over possessive bastard would draw from it.

Felix twirled a strand of his fuchsia dyed hair in his slender fingers. "Look- You need to think above a personal level, at one point. It about us, the medicine department, as a whole. You need to fulfill your duty as the gold medallist of anatomy, darling."

"...How is that even relevant in this discussion."

Felix shrugged, a smug smile on his babyish face. "It's not. I just like to brag about how I'm the best friend of the smartest guy in our year."

"... Well- Then, let me study! Or you won't be able to brag about that, yknow!"

Felix just shrugged. "Oh, you'll score the top marks regardless, darling. We all know it."

"We're going off topic again." Jacob grumbled. "Look, I know he's your boyfriend, but- You gotta think on a higher level. You can't cheer for him. That's like... Cheating."

Felix also hummed. "Betrayal of the highest order. Blasphemy."

Jacob nodded, almost sagely. "Yeah, yeah... All that he said." He thought of something and turned Yerik to him and asked seriously. Very seriously. "Yerik, who are you first. A med student, who is loyal to the department who supported him through storm and rain, or- That law guy's boyfriend."

"... Ethan's boyfriend?"

Felix just facepalmed. "Should've expected that."

Both of them sighed, as if exhausted from trying to explain something so obvious.

Yerik also sighed. "Guys, stop. I don't even care about this stupid match. I don't play, I don't care. I don't even understand the scoring and rules."

Felix rolled his eyes. "What do you mean you don't care? The department pride is on the line here. It's not about us students. It's a matter of department pride, love."

"If we, the medical students fail, we'll be a laughing stock! So you gotta care man," Jacob protested, looking at him like he was a kid who didn't understand why broccoli was essential to life.

Both of them looked at each other, before simultaneously saying with a sigh. "And the bragging rights. Oh god, the bragging rights~"

"Oh come on. It's not even that serious- everyone will probably forget about it in a few days. And how exactly is me caring going to make a difference?" Yerik put his head on the table, burying his face in the thick textbook.

Felix rolled his eyes again, patting Yerik's head. He was somewhat of the mother hen of the group, after all. He spoke up, his tone slightly tired. "It is not about the difference you'll make. It's about your department loyalty, darling. You're in the medical department. It's the thought that counts, honey." He shook his head like a disappointed grandpa, at unfilial grandchildren.

Both of them came in front of Yerik's face, puppy eyes full on display. Oh, so they were pulling out the big guns out, huh.

They simultaneously whined. "Pleaseeee, Yerik~"

He sighed. He wanted to say no, knowing if he agrees, Ethan would whine and be upset. But if he doesn't, these two will whine. In the end, he nods.

"...Fine. I'll wear that scarf. But that's as far as I'm willing to go."

Both of them perked up. Well, something is better than nothing. Felix seemed prepared as, on cue, he pulled out a green scarf from his bag.

"This one, right? You absolutely have to wear it, darling. And you have to cheer for us, obviously, and not that law guy!"

"...His name is Ethan, Felix."

"That's what I said. Law guy who stole our precious daughter's heart," the pink haired boy sighed dramatically, leaning against Jacob, both of them looking like disappointed, helpless parents of a rebellious daughter who eloped with the enemy.
