Chapter 169 - Chapter 169: Secrets of the Fairies

"It seems it's not impossible..." she said, turning to Gawain.

Gawain felt a chill run down her spine. "Sister, please don't do that! I'm still just a child!"

As the conversation took a serious turn, Morgan performed a magic spell, causing the elves of the Wind Clan to gasp in surprise.

"You'd better be honest with me," Morgan demanded, eyeing the fairy intently.

"Who are you all, anyway?" the fairy retorted, feeling the sting of Morgan's magic.

Realizing they were not just ordinary kidnappers, the fairy's bravado faltered.

"Little girl," Morgan continued, moving closer and gently pinching the fairy's chin, "I'm asking the questions now."

Lott watched, amused by his wife's intimidating demeanour. She looks like a villain, he thought, chuckling internally.

Morgan shot him a glance, her expression a mix of annoyance and playful challenge. What are you complaining about, dear husband?

"I want to know what you fairies are doing to help the victims rebuild their homes," Morgan pressed on.

The Wind Clan fairy, trying to maintain her pride, responded, "We fairies and humans live in peace. So we are helping them rebuild. Is your behaviour not a threat to Camelot?"

Morgan narrowed her eyes. "You dare to reason with me?"

"Of course! Some things should be reasonable!" The fairy seemed to think she had struck a chord.

Morgan, unfazed, banged her staff on the ground. "Too bad I'm not a reasonable person. Either you tell me everything, or you'll find out what I can do to you."

The fairy's defiance began to wane as she realized the gravity of Morgan's intent. After a tense stare-down, the fairy finally relented, "I... I don't know much. Our patriarch ordered us to connect with humans and let them know that they can seek our help in times of need..."

She explained that their patriarch had sent them to collaborate with the Earth Clan to aid in the reconstruction of towns ravaged by Vortigern. The areas were neglected by the government, leaving room for the fairies to establish their influence.

"They want humans to rely on us, rather than the government," the fairy added, looking downcast.

Morgan and Lott exchanged glances, realizing the potential threat this posed.

"What are these fairies planning?" Morgan pondered aloud, confusion etched on her face.

Lott, equally perplexed, considered the implications. The countryside surrounding the city... but in this era, the actual threat is minimal.

Deciding to take action, Lott said, "Let's take these fairies back first and see how the others respond. We need to create a bit of chaos."

"Agreed," Morgan nodded. She used her magic to lift the tied fairies off the ground.

"Where are you taking us?" the leader of the Wind Clan asked, panic rising in her voice.

"To Chalk City," Lott replied casually.

"The City of Chalk? You... you're serious?" The fairy's eyes widened as realization dawned.

"Yes, you guessed correctly," Lott confirmed. "And we'll make it clear that you fairies don't have the authority to build anything. All your activities are illegal constructions, and I will have to arrest you."

"But we didn't take any money!" the fairy protested.

Lott simply tossed a small coin into her lap. "Here, take this. Now, come with us."

With Morgan and Gawain guiding the fairies, they headed to the nearest castle. Upon arrival, the guards recognized Lott and Morgan immediately, their expressions shifting from curiosity to respect.

"Your Majesty, how did you capture these fairies?" one of the guards inquired.

"What? Is there a problem?" Lott responded, raising an eyebrow.

"Your Majesty, these fairies have been helping us rebuild after Vortigern's attack. Isn't it a bit rash to capture them now?" the guard argued.

"Do you think they help us out of kindness?" Lott retorted, exasperated. "Remember, what is the most valuable thing in the world? Free things are the most expensive. Their motives are undoubtedly larger than just assistance."

Understanding dawned on the guard, and he nodded slowly. "I see."

"But what if the others react aggressively?" he added cautiously.

Morgan's expression hardened. "A dead person won't act aggressively."

The guard gulped, realizing the gravity of their situation.

Lott chuckled, attempting to lighten the mood. "With Gawain and me around, nothing will go wrong."

"Yes, Your Majesty," the guard replied, reassured.

As they settled in, anticipation filled the air. Rumours of Lott and Morgan's formidable strength had spread, and the guards were eager to witness their prowess firsthand.
