A Surprising Growth Spurt
Lott nodded approvingly at Morgan's words, though a flicker of uncertainty lingered in his mind. He thought to himself, [There shouldn't be many problems…] as he glanced back and forth at his daughter.
Little Gawain, noticing her father's gaze, reached out and tugged at Lott's skirt. In a faint, unclear tone, she said, "Dad, hug."
Lott's heart warmed at the request. With a smile, he picked Gawain up and held her close. She nestled comfortably against his chest, her eyes narrowing contentedly.
Morgan, observing the scene, felt a pang of irritation. She put her hands on her hips and asked, "Daughter, I need to know, do you prefer to be in your father's arms or mine?"
Gawain, initially looking confused, took a moment to consider her mother's question. After a few seconds of contemplation, she chose to remain in Lott's arms.
Lott chuckled at the sight of Morgan's frustration. "Though I'm thrilled you chose me for now," he said softly to Gawain, "I can only hold you for a little while. My chest still belongs to your mother."
Morgan's irritation shifted to amusement as she looked at Gawain with a triumphant smile. Meanwhile, Gawain's face fell into a pout, and she seemed on the verge of tears, feeling an unspoken sense of injustice.
As time went on, Lott's concerns about Gawain's rapid growth proved well-founded. While Lott and Morgan were engrossed in preparing for Britain's exams and managing various tasks, Gawain's development accelerated at an astonishing rate.
On the first day, Kay remarked, "Your Majesty, it seems that Highness Gawain is starting to climb."
By the third day, Tristan noticed, "His Royal Highness, what's this? Standing up and walking?"
On the fifth day, Altria commented, "His Royal Highness, what are you doing? That's my food. You're only two months old; you shouldn't be eating that."
Galahad observed from a distance, noting, "I think the real reason my brother is anxious is not just because Gawain is young, but because the food belongs to him." He shared this thought with Nagarahad.
"Maybe," Nagarahad replied, though he was too polite to speak ill of anyone.
By the seventh day, even Galahad struggled to mask his astonishment. Gawain, now appearing like a child of three or four years old, was bouncing around energetically. Galahad found it hard to comprehend how Gawain had grown so quickly in such a short span.
"Brother Galahad, how are you!" Gawain greeted him cheerfully.
Galahad, recalling his past life where Gawain was a formidable knight, felt a mix of confusion and disbelief. Now, facing this young child who seemed to have matured so rapidly, he struggled to find the right response.
"Can you help me find my father? I miss him," Gawain asked, holding her finger in her mouth.
Galahad, understanding the situation, agreed to help. "Alright, I'll take you to him."
With this, Galahad led Gawain to find Lott and Morgan.
At that moment, Lott and Morgan were busy with the tedious tasks of selecting exam questions and other preparations. Despite the availability of aides like Kay and Galahad, some tasks required their direct involvement.
Lott, longing for a fishing trip, sighed inwardly, [Ah, I want to fish!] His frustration was evident as Morgan still engrossed in the needs of Camelot, glanced at him with a knowing smile.
"If you keep wishing to fish, we'll never finish this," Morgan teased.
"If we can't finish it, then we can't rest either," Lott retorted, his head dropping back onto his chair in exasperation.
Morgan rolled her eyes, finding Lott's behaviour both amusing and exasperating. At that moment, Galahad knocked on the door and announced, "Your Majesty, Galahad is here to see you."
"Huh? What's the matter?" Lott asked as he straightened up.
"Foster father, Princess Gawain wants to see you. I'll bring her over."
"Alright, let her in," Lott instructed.
As the door opened, Gawain bounded into the room, running straight into Lott's arms. "Dad!" she exclaimed joyfully.
Lott embraced her warmly, his face lighting up with a smile. Morgan, watching from the side, couldn't help but roll her eyes at the scene.
Gawain's rapid growth continued to baffle everyone. At this point, she seemed almost as heavy as a child of four and her development in terms of intellect and speech was also advanced. This unusual growth had not gone unnoticed and had led to some criticism.
A priest from the church, upon observing Gawain's abnormal growth, accused her of being a demonic presence. Morgan, furious, had the priest dealt with by her knights.
The priest, feeling the severity of Morgan's response, sought out Lott to voice his concerns. However, rather than reprimanding the priest, Lott dismissed him angrily, expressing his disdain for such baseless accusations. Lott was firm in defending his daughter, stating that any further insults would not be tolerated.
Thus, the episode highlighted not only Gawain's rapid and mysterious growth but also the protective nature of her parents in the face of unwarranted criticism.
