The Reckoning of Nobility
Morgan's eyes blazed with a fierce resolve as she prepared to address the corruption plaguing Camelot. "Summon Knights Kay, Altria, Galahad, and Tristan," she instructed a maid, her voice brooking no argument.
The maids, recognizing the gravity of the situation from Morgan's demeanour, quickly sought out the four knights. Before long, they assembled in the castle.
"Your Majesty Morgan, what is your command?" Kay inquired as they gathered.
Morgan's eyes narrowed with anger as she explained the dire situation. "These nobles have been siphoning resources meant for the people. They failed to produce adequate food, leaving us with no choice but to fish overseas to supplement our supplies. Yet, they've even embezzled from those efforts."
The knights' faces reflected their shared outrage. Their loyalty to Camelot and its people was unwavering, and the news of the nobles' greed and exploitation was infuriating.
Morgan continued, her voice steely with resolve. "I gave them a chance to reform, but they've only deepened their corruption. This time, there will be no mercy."
Altria, echoing Morgan's sentiments, affirmed, "We will not tolerate such crimes. The suffering these nobles have caused is unforgivable."
Morgan's satisfaction was evident. Her sister's understanding and commitment reassured her. "Altria, lead the Knights of the Round Table to apprehend every noble on this list. None must escape."
"Yes, Your Majesty," Altria responded resolutely.
Morgan then turned to Tristan. "Assist Altria with your exceptional archery skills. Ensure no one evades justice."
Tristan, eager to contribute, nodded vigorously. His loyalty to Morgan and Lott was steadfast, shaped by their life-changing influence. "I will not let anyone escape," he pledged.
Morgan then addressed Kay and Galahad. "Mobilize the Orkney Army. Should any noble forces resist, let them face the consequences of their rebellion."
Kay and Galahad acknowledged their orders with a nod. The Orkney Army, renowned for its discipline and effectiveness, would be instrumental in enforcing Morgan's decree.
Before the knights departed to execute their tasks, Kay raised a crucial question. "Your Majesty, what should be done with the captured nobles?"
Morgan's expression hardened. "Execute them. These nobles have blood on their hands and deserve no mercy. Hang them if necessary. We cannot afford to spare any who have so grievously harmed the people."
Her decision was resolute. The elimination of corrupt nobles was crucial for the stability and future of Camelot. The kingdom needed to consolidate its strength and address the threat posed by Vortigern and the dying gods.
Kay, though hesitant, nodded in agreement. "Understood," he said quietly, acknowledging the harsh but necessary measure.
With the plan set, Morgan relaxed slightly, ready to oversee the unfolding events. She had full confidence in her knights' ability to carry out her orders effectively.
Louis, a noble who had previously evaded Morgan and Lott's enforcement, felt the pressure of their authority. His initial surrender had not been accompanied by genuine reform. Instead, he continued exploiting his position, increasing taxes, and manipulating market prices for his benefit.
As he contemplated his next indulgence, a loud crash interrupted his thoughts. The gate to his residence was flung open with force, landing at his feet. Altria, the chief knight, stormed in with her sword drawn.
"You are under arrest, Baron Louis," Altria declared firmly.
Louis, initially bewildered, quickly attempted to justify his actions. "Isn't it a bit excessive? I was just planning a night out. There's nothing illegal about it."
Altria's expression darkened. "Your crimes are far more serious. The suffering you've caused the people through your greed is unforgivable. You have blood on your hands, and you will face justice."
As Altria apprehended Louis, Tristan, who had followed closely, couldn't help but ask, "Have you never been to a brothel?"
Altria's gaze remained unyielding. "No, I have not. My duty and my honour come first."
With that, Altria and Tristan took Louis into custody, ensuring he faced the consequences of his exploitation and corruption.
The knights' mission was clear: restore justice and order to Camelot, and prepare the kingdom for the challenges that lay ahead.
