Clash of Loyalties
The nobles, emboldened by their failed assassination attempt, began to escalate their plans. With the realization that subtler measures were ineffective, they now sought to mobilize their soldiers directly for a coup.
As Morgan and Lott arrived in the city, they saw soldiers advancing toward them. Morgan turned to Lott and said with a smirk, "Oh, Lott, let me tell you a joke."
Lott, intrigued, asked, "What joke?"
Morgan chuckled. "Someone thinks they can win by waiting for a hero to save them."
Lott glanced at the approaching soldiers and continued, "They believe our victory came by chance. We need to show them how mistaken they are."
He turned to Kay and Altria, who both offered him reassuring nods. Around them, the once-bustling streets were now deserted, replaced by a line of armoured soldiers led by a nobleman.
The nobleman addressed Lott with authority. "His Royal Highness, Your Majesty Lot, you have no place here. Return to Orkney."
Lott countered, "I am the only heir of King Uther. Why should it be irrelevant to me?"
The nobleman, with a dismissive wave, said to Morgan, "But you're a woman. How could a woman rule Camelot?"
Morgan replied confidently, "It doesn't matter. If I can do a better job than you, then I am fit to be King of Camelot."
Morgan's comment about preferring to fish if she could have Lott chuckling inwardly. Ah, Morgan never abandons her dreams of a relaxed life, he thought.
The nobleman sneered. "We have no intention of allowing you to be King of Camelot. We'll find a more suitable candidate."
He then cast a derisive glance at Altria. "You, who pulled the sword from the stone, seem uninterested in ruling. I find that admirable."
Morgan responded with a smirk, "I don't plan to explain myself to you. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant. After all, the dead don't have opinions."
The nobleman, enraged, pointed a finger at Morgan. Lott intervened, saying, "Don't point at her, or I'll make sure you regret it."
With a decisive gesture, Lott ordered, "Summon all forces and eliminate these traitors in one fell swoop."
As he prepared for an imminent clash. With a dramatic flourish, Lott blew a whistle, the sound piercing the air.
Morgan watched, puzzled. What are those names he's thinking of? She wondered.
The whistle's call was answered by the thunderous sound of cavalry. A large group of knights surrounded the noble soldiers, their arrival striking terror into the hearts of the enemy.
Altria, ready to prove herself, drew her long sword and prepared for battle. Despite her relatively shorter stature compared to Kay and Lott, she was determined to show her prowess. However, being overshadowed by taller figures like Lott and Morgan did little to boost her morale.
As the knights assembled, the nobleman's soldiers, primarily infantry, began to panic. The sight of the imposing Knights of the Round Table, despite their lower quality compared to historical accounts, was enough to create a sense of dread.
"Do you still believe you have a chance?" Lott taunted the nobles.
The noblemen's fear intensified. Despite their numerical advantage, they faced a formidable force. "You knew we would do this, didn't you?" the nobleman asked.
Lott smiled. "Of course. If I didn't expect this, why would I come out here? I wasn't just here for fishing."
The nobleman's expression soured further. Morgan, seeing the situation, commanded her knights, "Wipe out these rebellious nobles."
The Knights of the Round Table, led by Altria, raised their swords in unison, ready to engage.
The nobleman tried to rally his men. "Don't be afraid. We have more soldiers. If we fight seriously, we can win. Defeat them, and riches will be yours."
His men, momentarily bolstered by his words, renewed their resolve. Yet, facing the Knights of the Round Table, their courage faltered.
Altria, despite her stature, was a force to be reckoned with. She charged into the fray, her sword cutting through the noble soldiers with precision and strength. Her actions quickly turned the tide of battle.
Kay joined the fray, while Galahad remained on guard, wary of his father's potential appearance.
The confrontation was chaotic but one-sided. The Knights of the Round Table, bolstered by their skill and Altria's exceptional leadership, easily overwhelmed the disorganized noble forces.
Despite their efforts, the noble soldiers were no match for the knights, and their rebellion was swiftly crushed.
