Eliza, who was still waiting for an answer, looked at her with a gaze full of undiminished curiosity.
But Ethan changed the subject, trying to ease the tension that enveloped Claire.
"We're looking for someone here," Ethan said flatly, turning his gaze out the window of the carriage that was starting to sway on the sandy road.
"The Qadrak Kingdom is indeed vast and full of desert. Whoever we're looking for has probably gotten lost far away."
Eliza's gaze changed, there was a hint of doubt that implied disbelief in Ethan's words. She snorted, raising her eyebrows skeptically.
"You… don't believe me?"
