Suddenly, a male police officer stopped him, his suspicion and caution evident. He had a gun in his hand, ready.
"Officer, I'm just looking for my sister. I'm not a criminal," Shen Ren said quickly, raising his hands in surrender.
"Is that so? Show me your documents and don't try anything funny, or I'll shoot. We have permission for that," the policeman warned sternly, pointing the gun at him.
"Permission to kill? Has the government gone mad?" Shen Ren thought in disbelief. "What if some dishonest officer killed someone out of desperation or panic?"
Sightly annoyed, Shen Ren searched through his wallet and found his driver's license there.
He handed it to the police officer.
The officer scanned it, then nodded, recognizing the Shen family name. Shen Ren also appeared decent enough.
"Alright, you can go. But don't try anything funny."
Shen Ren took the license back and hurriedly continued upstairs, without looking back.
The officer shook his head and went to his duty.
---
When Shen Ren reached the 5th floor, he finally felt a sense of relief as he heard his younger sister's voice.
Inside the spacious and decorative lounge, he was met with a shocking scene.
His sister, along with several other girls, was beating a group of grown men like headless chickens.
Shen Ru was leading the girl group, and surprisingly enough, she was taking down the hooligans with just her small hands.
"Ahh, my mothers, please don't hit us anymore! We swear, we won't do this again!" one of the hooligans begged, his head bowed before Shen Ru.
"Yes, yes! We promise not to even glance at women again. From now on, all women will be like our sisters and mothers!" another chimed in exaggeratedly.
Shen Ru grinned victoriously, clearly enjoying the admiration from her friends.
"Wow, Ru Ru, I had no idea you were this strong!" one girl exclaimed, her eyes wide with amazement.
"Thank you so much, Ru Ru! If you hadn't been here, my birthday would've turned into a nightmare. We might have all been violated," the birthday girl, dressed in an elegant, eye-catching gown, said, her voice trembling as she fought back tears.
In an attempt to lighten the mood, Shen Ru laughed and boasted, "Oh, this is nothing, girls! I've even beaten up my smart-mouth brother at home. Compared to him, these guys are no challenge at all!" She raised her fist triumphantly, her confidence shining through.
At the mention of her brother, their mood shifted instantly. Shen Ren was well known for his academic results and background. He had moderately riches and refined temperament.
"But I heard your brother knows Taekwondo!" one of them said, sounding doubtful.
Shen Ru shook her head. "Nah, he's just so so, only at a Yellow Belt. I can take him down easily now."
She spoke confidently, relishing her newfound power after awakening.
Here's the revised version with corrected grammar:
"Is that so?" Suddenly, a voice filled with silent anger broke through the place.
They looked toward the source of the voice with caution.
"B-Brother?" Shen Ru stumbled back instantly.
"Sh*t..."
Panic rose in her as she realized her brother might have already heard her badmouthing.
"I need to flee!" With that thought, she began to run with increased agility.
But Shen Ren was not to be underestimated. His agility was superior due to his Taekwondo training, so his legs were much faster than hers.
He immediately caught her by the hand and pulled her ear.
Her heart skipped a beat as she heard him say,
"And here I was searching all over the city, and you're having fun, huh!"
"No, brother, don't pull so hard! Ouch! Sorry! Sorry!"
Then, the seven or eight girls approached them.
"Brother Shen, thank God you're here. We were really worried. It's a relief to see you," a beautiful girl said, leaning closer with a smile.
Another girl nudged in, "Yes, Brother Shen, thank you." She held his hand boldly, her eyes shining as she admired his profile with a seductive smile.
"Uh..." Shen Ren awkwardly made some distance between them and said, "That's why you shouldn't wander around the city alone, little sisters."
"Brother Shen, what you're saying is wrong! If we don't celebrate at our age, when will we? And please don't call me 'little sister.' I'm barely two years younger than you," the birthday girl Shi Jing said, looking at him with watery eyes.
"Yes, Yes!" The girls echoed.
The girls were beautiful and well-dressed, a reminder of their wealthy background.
Despite that, they seemed to have an inexplicable attraction to Shen Ren.
Shen Ren might not be exceptionally fair, but he was 1.8 meters tall, with short black hair, sharp eyes, a chiseled jawline, and a muscular build typical of a healthy young adult.
The hooligans laid nervously, unsure of what to do. They just had the misfortune of crossing paths with a tough girl. They all couldn't even take down a single girl. They felt ashamed.
"Vixens," Shen Ru muttered under her breath, watching her friends shamelessly flirt in broad daylight.
Feeling helpless, Shen Ren turned his attention to the hooligans. He wanted to punish them for their bad intentions toward his sister, but as he looked at their pitiful, dog-like expressions, he couldn't bring himself to raise his hand.
However, fate seemed to have other plans for them.
"Inspector Kang, there she is... my daughter!" A sudden voice echoed through the room, startling everyone.
Several desperate parents rushed into the lounge, followed by a group of police officers.
"Mom! Dad!" the girls cried out, realizing their parents had come to rescue them, even in these dangerous times.
Tears of relief and joy filled the room as they embraced their parents.
Inspector Kang, a stern, hawk-eyed officer, scanned the room with sharp precision before locking onto the 3-4 hooligans.
"Arrest them!" he barked at his men.
The officers quickly moved in, handcuffing the hooligans.
Inspector Kang's gaze then shifted to Shen Ren and Shen Ru.
"You two should leave as well," he ordered before leading the parents and girls out of the building.
Shen Ru said her goodbyes to her friends and rejoined her brother.
"Let's go, big brother."
Shen Ren nodded, following her as they exited the building.
In such chaotic times, staying in a high-rise building was a risk they couldn't afford.
