"Abby, can I come in now?"
Sawyer's soft voice jolted Abigail from her sultry thoughts. She rushed to the bed, placed the water bottle on the bedside table, and glanced toward the door.
"Yes…" she replied, trying hard to appear calm despite her nervousness, but her trembling voice betrayed her.
As Abigail watched him enter the room with his blanket, she pointed to the three-seater sofa in the corner.
"Can you fit on the sofa?" Abigail asked, concerned he might not have enough room to sleep comfortably. "Or you could sleep on the bed, and I'll take the sofa," she offered.
Sawyer immediately declined her suggestion and told her to sleep before he turned off the light.
Abigail remained silent, feeling anxious about sharing the room with him for the first time. Hurriedly, she slipped under the blanket and tried to close her eyes.
