"Really?" Ava exclaimed, shocked. The ground beneath her seemed to shift as Nicholas's words dismantled the assumption she had clung to so firmly. She had been certain Scott's collaboration was due to Nicholas's influence, but now, confusion and questions clouded her mind.
"I don't know if someone contacted Scott or influenced him to work with us," Nicholas said calmly, adding to her perplexion. "Remember what he said in the meeting? He wanted to explore this new field. Maybe he just chose us randomly."
Ava bit her lip. She wasn't convinced. A director of Scott's stature wouldn't have randomly selected a new team. Someone had to be pulling the strings. But who?
Then, like a sudden flash of lightning, a memory struck her. Dylan had got agitated when she said Nicholas had arranged for Scott to direct their short dramas. His frustration, the look in his eyes, and his biting words now made sense.
