He was a man who only seemed to exist in black and white. His skin was pale, and he was dressed all in black from head to toe.
Eclipse couldn't describe his face exactly, but it was like every part of him was carefully designed to be perfect, making him really hard to look away from.
There wasn't any specific feature that was the best, but everything about him just looked good.
And right now, with the sunset behind him, it seemed like the whole world was fading into darkness around him.
His deep, dark eyes seemed endless, and even his fingers, which looked almost see-through, had some sort of weird but cool vibe.
Eclipse was stunned by how amazing he looked and how he made her feel. She had never heard any rumors about someone like him in Star City.
Who was this guy?
"Master, Miss Clark heard some bad rumors about you and ran away," someone said, bowing to the man.
The man's perfect face didn't show any emotion, but his voice was smooth and beautiful, like something that could make people fall in love. "Get me a clean female creature from the street in three minutes."
Eclipse blinked.
Female creature? Could he mean a dog? Or a cat?
Wow, he's even more picky than me...
Eclipse stared at him for a minute before an idea popped into her head. She stepped forward with a lazy grin, holding up her household registration book and some change.
"Sir, are you getting married?" she asked, still grinning. "I've got 99 cents. I'll treat you."
The man turned his attention to her, his dark eyes meeting hers. It was like once he looked, he couldn't stop.
"What's your name?" he asked, his voice so smooth and charming it was like a spell.
"Eclipse," she replied, still smiling.
His cold eyes flickered with something strange, but it was gone so fast that Eclipse wasn't sure she saw it.
The guy standing next to him looked at Eclipse in shock. She could tell he wasn't happy. Eclipse? The silly girl from the Rocelyn family who got dumped by her fiancé for being too wild?
What kind of woman, after being dumped like that, had the guts to hit on his boss? This girl had no shame!
But before the guy could say anything, the man gave him a quick look. The assistant swallowed his words, and Eclipse could see he was sweating from fear.
The man's gaze returned to Eclipse, sharp and a little intimidating. He was sizing her up.
Eclipse figured he was thinking it over, so she confidently added, "You need a wife, and I need a husband. If we get married, we both win. After we're married, I'll help you with whatever you need. And when I need something, you can't just ignore me."
For now, she just needed the marriage certificate so she could access the 20% of the family shares. But it was always good to be prepared for whatever might come up.
The man didn't seem completely happy with her answer, and his eyes got a little darker. But after a moment, he seemed to consider something, and the anger went away.
"Alastor," he finally said, his voice smooth. "That's my name."
