Jessica Rocelyn stared at Eclipse with a hint of coldness in her eyes.
She clenched her fists tightly, taking a deep breath and biting her lip.
"Eclipse, your mother's things belong to you, of course. But it's up to Mr. Rocelyn to decide. I can't speak for him without upsetting him…"
"I never asked you to meddle in the White Family's company," Eclipse interrupted with a faint smile, her eyes gleaming with coldness. "I just want you to make a promise.
Is that so hard?"
Jessica trembled slightly, her face changing as she gritted her teeth. "Eclipse, you know Mr. Rocelyn—"
Eclipse cut her off, her smile fading, replaced by an icy expression. "Jessica, don't drag him into this. If Mr. Rocelyn offers you something, can't you just refuse it?"
Before Jessica could reply, Eclipse sneered, her delicate features full of disdain. "No matter how clever you think you are, you can't change the fact that I'm the true heir of the Rocelyn family. As long as I'm alive, you'll always be the daughter of a mistress. You have no right to touch anything that belongs to my mother!"
Jessica's face stiffened, cold anger flashing in her eyes.
Mrs. Rocelyn, standing nearby, wanted to jump at Eclipse, but the crowd held her back.
Her disdain for Eclipse had long been exposed, so she decided to go all out.
Mr. Rocelyn shouted, "Eclipse, do you even know what you're saying? You're nothing but a useless girl. If the Group gave you anything, you'd just bring it down! Jessica is the one who'll take this family to new heights, not you!"
At that moment, a man sneered at Mr. Rocelyn's outburst. "Mrs. Rocelyn, you're mistaken. Eclipse doesn't need the Rocelyn Family's company. She's a shareholder of the Empire Groups, and someone of her status doesn't need to be burdened with running the Group."
Eclipse couldn't be bothered with the Jade Family.
She had bigger things to worry about, and being married to someone from the Alastor Empire only made her untouchable.
The guests murmured among themselves. "Mrs. Rocelyn's logic is ridiculous. Just because Eclipse isn't interested in running the company doesn't mean Jessica can take her mother's inheritance. How shameless!"
Jessica turned to her mother angrily, "Mom, how could you say something like that?"
Mr. Rocelyn, used to Eclipse's silence, had become arrogant and domineering over the years.
But Eclipse's boldness in front of everyone today left her speechless.
Jessica, though still upset, had to swallow her anger.
She softly scolded her mother, then faced Eclipse again, her face pale and her eyes red.
"Eclipse, that's not what I meant. If a promise is what it takes to earn your forgiveness, then I swear I'll never touch what belongs to your mother…"
Jessica's voice cracked, and her face reflected the pain she was trying to hide. Eclipse smiled slightly, her beauty shining through.
Jessica bit her lip hard, feeling humiliated. "I swear, if I ever try to take what belongs to your mother, then let me…"
"Be homeless, friendless, and penniless," Eclipse interrupted, her eyes cold.
Jessica's face turned green as she gritted her teeth.
She had hoped to make an empty promise, but Eclipse's demand was ruthless.
The weight of those words made her feel helpless.
The crowd watched in silence. Eclipse's demand seemed harsh, but considering everything she'd gone through, no one could blame her.
If Eclipse could endure so much, why couldn't Jessica?
Jessica sighed, realizing she had no choice. She clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and whispered, "If I covet what belongs to Eclipse's mother, let me have nowhere to go, no one to rely on…"
Her voice trailed off, but Eclipse's expression remained calm, her victory clear.
