The King of the Noldor Elves had a firstborn son, Fëanor, who was extraordinarily gifted but also notoriously stubborn. Using his unparalleled skill, he forged the Silmarils, jewels capable of storing the radiant light of the Two Trees of Valinor.
The beauty and power of the Silmarils astonished even the gods, but they also fueled Fëanor's arrogance.
Later, under the manipulations of Melkor, Fëanor, along with a faction of elves, began to openly challenge the authority of the gods. This led to his banishment to a fortress far from the main city, deepening his resentment toward the deities.
With his scheme successful and fearing divine retribution, Melkor destroyed the Two Trees, murdered Fëanor's father, and stole all three Silmarils before fleeing back to Angband, his stronghold in Middle-earth.
Enraged upon learning of these events, Fëanor renamed Melkor as Morgoth and swore an unbreakable oath alongside his seven sons: no matter how far they had to pursue him, they would reclaim the Silmarils and exact vengeance.
He rallied the entire Noldor, including his two half-brothers, urging them to leave Valinor for Middle-earth—not just to avenge his father, but to escape the rule of the gods and carve out their own destiny.
Spurred by the heat of the moment, the Noldor followed Fëanor to the coastline. However, the Teleri, the sea elves responsible for shipbuilding, refused to disobey the gods. In response, Fëanor and his followers slaughtered the Teleri and stole their ships, setting sail from Valinor.
When the gods learned of this atrocity, they were heartbroken. Mandos, the Doomsman of the Valar, personally pursued them and issued a dire warning.
The families of the first and second princes ignored the warning, while the third prince came to his senses. He led a portion of his people back to Valinor under Mandos' guidance. Because he and his family had not participated in the Teleri massacre, the gods forgave them.
However, three of the third prince's sons and his youngest daughter, Galadriel, still longed to explore Middle-earth and did not return to Valinor.
This is why, in the films, Galadriel constantly seeks the gods' forgiveness, hoping to return to Valinor.
Disappointed beyond measure, the gods erected towering mountains and barriers outside Valinor, sealing it off from the Noldor who had left. From that moment on, they ceased to intervene in Middle-earth's affairs.
However, around this time, Ilúvatar's Second Children—humans—were born in Middle-earth. In response, the gods used their power to coax a single flower and fruit from the withered Two Trees.
These became the Sun and Moon, bringing light to Middle-earth. They also created many stars, significantly weakening Morgoth's forces of darkness.
Thus began the Age of the Sun, marking the start of the First Age.
Meanwhile, the Noldor, who had left Valinor, soon fell into internal conflict. Fëanor's faction, which arrived in Middle-earth first, burned the stolen ships, stranding the remaining two groups and forcing them to take a treacherous overland route.
Upon arriving, Fëanor's forces clashed fiercely with Morgoth's army in what would later be known as the Battle Under the Stars.
Although Fëanor fought bravely, he was ultimately killed in a duel with Morgoth. However, Morgoth, too, was shaken by the sheer power of the Light Elves, who far surpassed the Sindar (Grey Elves) and Silvan (Wood Elves).
Later, the second prince's family and the four children of the third prince finally crossed the ice mountains and reached Middle-earth.
Despite their lingering resentment over the burning of the ships, they united with Fëanor's remaining forces, successfully pushing Morgoth's army back and forcing them to retreat into Angband.
For a long time, peace reigned, but eventually, Morgoth bred dragons, raised vast legions of orcs, and recruited human followers who worshiped him.
He launched a brutal assault on the Noldor, the newly-emerged human kingdoms, and the dwarves.
After centuries of war, the Noldor were nearly wiped out, and Morgoth's influence spread across all of Middle-earth.
Eventually, a human mariner and his elven wife took one of the Silmarils and, guided by the sea god, reached Valinor. There, they pleaded with the gods to intervene and told them everything that had transpired in Middle-earth.
The Gods' Final Judgment and the Beginning of a New Age
The gods, moved by compassion, forgave the Noldor for their transgressions and descended upon Middle-earth once more. This time, they completely defeated Morgoth, imprisoning him in the Eternal Void for all eternity.
The remnants of his forces—Sauron, several Balrogs, and a few dragons—managed to escape, scattering to hidden corners of the world, where they lay in hiding.
The cataclysmic battle had devastating consequences for Middle-earth, causing the entire land of Beleriand to sink beneath the sea. Only the easternmost, more remote regions of the continent remained above water.
Thus began the Second Age.
For a long time, peace reigned. But eventually, Sauron, sensing that the gods no longer watched over Middle-earth, adopted Morgoth's ideology. Disguising himself, he infiltrated various factions across the land and began forging the Rings of Power.
Sauron's defeat marked the end of the Second Age and the beginning of the Third Age.
The events of the films take place primarily in the Third Age, culminating in the destruction of the One Ring and the end of the era.
George's Realization: A True Fantasy World
Drawing from the memories of his human incarnation, George quickly determined that he had arrived in the First Age—a time when Morgoth was still trapped within Angband by the Noldor coalition, and Beleriand was at peace.
"This really is a true fantasy world—even an ordinary human here has such incredible physical strength!"
Organizing his thoughts, George swung his arms and couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.
His current incarnation was nothing more than a regular adult human, yet even this "ordinary" body possessed two to three times the physical capabilities of a standard human in the Marvel universe.
This wasn't entirely surprising. After all, in the Marvel universe, humans from different planets often had vastly different physical attributes.
Forget the Asgardians, even the Kree were far stronger than Earth's humans.
Given that this was a fantasy world, it only made sense that humans here would be physically superior. Otherwise, they wouldn't even stand a chance fighting alongside elves against orcs and other monstrous creatures.
For George, the biggest benefit of this situation was that both his original body and his other incarnations had grown even stronger.
A Pack of Dire Wolves
"Awooo!"
Just as George was about to rise to his feet, a chorus of howls echoed through the air.
Six starving wolves encircled him.
Their piercing gazes flickered with surprise when George stood up, but the moment of hesitation quickly passed—they lunged toward him in unison.
These creatures were nothing like the wolves of Earth.
Each one was as large as a tiger, with strength and speed surpassing even Earth's big cats. Two or three tigers wouldn't stand a chance against a single one of these beasts.
"Fantasy world creatures really are on another level."
The Hunt Reversed
"Almost forgot about you guys!"
George's current body belonged to a member of a nearby human tribe.
At this point in history, humans had yet to establish kingdoms, instead living in tribal communities under the protection of elven realms.
The previous owner of this body had been out hunting with his companions when they were ambushed by the wolves. After a desperate struggle, he had been bitten to death.
As the remaining two humans fled, the wolves had pursued them.
George had taken over this body just as the wolves had left.
Now, having failed to catch their original prey, the wolves returned to claim their "meal."
As they lunged toward him, George grabbed a nearby iron spear.
Electricity crackled around his body.
"Take this!"
With a burst of lightning, the spear shot forward like a bolt, instantly impaling one of the wolves and pinning it against a tree.
