The next day, under a bright and sunny sky, George woke up in his luxurious villa.
Having recently acquired an extraordinary wand, he crafted a massive spatial storage artifact and sold it to the city's magic shop, earning a considerable fortune.
With that money, he bought a grand villa in Magnolia City.
After getting up and washing, he used cooking magic to prepare himself breakfast. Once finished, he headed to the villa's spacious yard to practice magic.
George's daily routine in the Fairy Tail world consisted of practicing magic at his villa in the morning, having lunch at the guild while chatting and gathering intel, and then spending the afternoon and evening studying magic at the library.
"Fiendfyre!"
George carefully released a streak of blue flame in a designated area of the yard, cautiously controlling its movements and attacks. Once he felt confident, he gradually increased the intensity of the Fiendfyre, stopping just before it became uncontrollable.
Fiendfyre was an extremely powerful fire magic with a devastating curse effect. It couldn't be extinguished by ordinary water and would only stop burning once there was nothing left to consume.
Even someone as formidable as Grindelwald could use Fiendfyre to reduce all of Paris to ashes.
With his extraordinary wand, George could unleash a similar level of destruction, though his control wasn't as refined as Grindelwald's.
For now, while keeping its power relatively modest, George could still command the flames to dissipate at will. However, if he unleashed the spell's full power, the Fiendfyre would burn out on its own accord, unstoppable until its energy was spent.
He practiced until nearly noon before finally strolling out of the villa. Spreading his wings, he took to the skies, heading toward the guild.
---
As he flew past the cathedral and approached the guild near the eastern forest, he noticed Natsu, Lucy, Erza, Gray, and Happy sprinting toward the same destination.
"Hey, Erza! Back from your mission?"
Since the S-Class mission on Galuna Island, the group had formed a small team to take on jobs together.
This particular mission had kept them away for over a week, and it seemed they had just returned.
"George, did you hear? The guild was attacked!" Erza called up to him as she noticed him overhead.
When they had reached the city center upon their return, they overheard townsfolk discussing the attack on Fairy Tail.
George froze in midair. "The guild was attacked? No way! When I came back last night, everything was fine."
Saying this, he accelerated toward the guild.
---
In moments, the scene came into view: the guild building was in complete disarray, with massive iron rods driven into its structure, leaving it in shambles.
"It really was attacked… Who has the guts to pull a stunt like this?"
Fairy Tail was one of the kingdom's most powerful wizard guilds, with the formidable Saint Wizard Makarov as its master. Whoever dared to attack was practically asking for death.
Joining Erza and the others as they caught up, George entered the ruined guildhall. The destruction was appalling.
Descending the staircase to the basement, they found Makarov and several other wizards temporarily gathered in the storage room near the underground library.
"George, you're finally here! We've been waiting for you to fix the guild," Makarov said, waving at him while taking a swig from his drink.
"Erza, you're back too. Once George restores the guild, we can move back upstairs."
"Old man, how can you be so calm? What the hell happened here?" Natsu stormed over, practically breathing fire in his fury.
Makarov waved dismissively, unconcerned:
"Calm down, calm down. It's just those guys from Phantom Lord. They're bored and only dare to mess around when the guild is empty. Like little kids. No need to pay them any mind."
"Phantom Lord? Phantom Lord's Guild?"
A hint of surprise flickered in George's eyes.
Having spent a decent amount of time in this world, George had learned quite a bit about the guilds across the kingdom and some of the renowned wizards through his lunchtime chats with the Fairy Tail members.
Phantom Lord was another wizard guild, one that rivaled Fairy Tail in power.
Rumor had it that the founder of Phantom Lord had longstanding tensions with Fairy Tail's founder even before either guild was established. As a result, the two guilds had always been at odds.
Phantom Lord's current guild master, Jose Porla, was also one of the Ten Wizard Saints. Six years ago, during a guild summit, he got into a brawl with Makarov over which guild was the strongest. After losing, he never attended another meeting again.
Phantom Lord boasted a wizard population several times larger than Fairy Tail's, with the number of wizards in its headquarters alone exceeding Fairy Tail's total membership. Additionally, it had over a dozen branches across the kingdom.
Among its members were the Four Elemental Wizards, all S-Class wizards, and beneath them was the so-called "Strongest Man of the Guild," the Iron Dragon Slayer.
---
"I can't accept this!"
Natsu punched a nearby crate, smashing it to pieces, his fury boiling over.
"I'm going to wreck their guild just like they did to ours! I won't let this slide!"
"Natsu, calm down."
Beside him, Erza was visibly angry as well, but she maintained her composure and placed a firm hand on Natsu to hold him back.
"Alright, that's enough," Makarov interjected, standing up and leaping down from the table.
"George, I'll leave it to you to repair the guild."
As he stretched and headed toward the door, he added casually, "I drank too much. Time to go relieve myself."
---
After Makarov left, Mirajane approached Natsu to console him.
"Natsu, don't be too hard on the Master. He's actually angrier than anyone.
"But the Magic Council strictly forbids guilds from fighting each other. If it escalates, they might even forcibly disband the guilds involved."
"But damn it, they're the ones who attacked us first!"
Natsu clenched his fists in frustration, his face full of unwillingness. The other wizards in the guild remained silent, their expressions betraying their shared dissatisfaction.
---
George said nothing, simply flying up to the first floor and using a Repair Charm to restore the guild to its original state.
In situations like this, he felt it was best to follow the Master's lead.
If a guild war did break out, as a member of Fairy Tail, he wouldn't back down. It would even give him the chance to test out the new magic he'd recently learned.
If not, he would continue dedicating himself to studying magic.
For someone as pragmatic as George, it wasn't worth disrupting his learning routine over such a trivial matter.
---
Once the guild was repaired, everyone returned to the main hall. After lunch, George resumed studying magic with Levy at the library, though Levy seemed visibly preoccupied.
That evening, as everyone went their separate ways, George and Levy stayed late to read.
However, unlike the previous night, something unexpected happened tonight.
As the three of them—along with Happy—left the guild and passed through South Gate Park, they were stopped by a wizard.
"Hey, you lot. You're from Fairy Tail, aren't you?"
"Yes, we are. What do you want?"
Levy's face showed unease as she looked at the long-haired wizard blocking their path, his expression clearly hostile.
George narrowed his eyes, sensing the immense magical power radiating from the wizard and the blatant hostility in his aura.
