First POV
As I enter the room last and see how Beca starts to punch the wall and shout curses about Faraday, Kiwi just lays down on the couch and closes her eyes since she is still weak from the dive session and the punch she received, Falco goes to one of the cavings and takes out a drink and pours himself a glass, and finally Lucy just hugs me since she is still a bit shaken about whatever she found in Tanaka' head.
After 20 minutes of silence, I took Lucy to the couch and sat her down by Kiwi's side, then went to Beca and had to lift her from the ground and sit her down on the same couch. Falco just looked at me confused.
"Ok everyone, the mission did not go according to plan, and we lost Maine and Dorio. But you guys can't afford to sit and do nothing right now, since Faraday will call one once he discovers that only Maine and Dorio did not make it"
no one said anything, so I decide to at least give them a hand.
"Falco, you should get in contact with Faraday and inform him about the failure of the missions, I don't know what was so important that they sent MAXTAC as soon as the jammer went offline. But whatever it was even Faraday wanted to cut his losses and kill us in the process"
"Just be careful and don't sound like you suspect him of setting us up, since I think the fact that Trauma and MAXTAC arrived so quickly after Maine informed him of our situation and that not 10 minutes later an unknown net runner was trying to sabotage us to get us killed, Faraday would not want any loose ends who could incriminate the gig back to him."
Falco looked at me and nodded then Kiwi's eyes glowed for a few seconds and she gave him a shard.
"This should convince him that it was pure luck that we got away and that we don't know anything else about Gig and his betrayal"
"What is it?"
"The log of what happened before Maine knocked me out, he will think that the reason we did not finish the job was because Maine went psycho and killed Tanaka, and whatever Info he had was lost. Not because his Runner deactivated the jammer, from what Lucy mentioned I figured the Jammer was deactivated after a runner gave the command. he would not suspect that we knew that he set us up to be killed or of any leaks of information"
Falco inserted the shard and his eyes glowed for about 5 minutes.
after what felt like a lot longer than 5 minutes his eyes returned to normal and said "ok, I think he bought it."
I sigh in relief, only for Beca to ask the question that was on everyone's minds, except me.
"Ok, so what are we going to do now then?"
" I will contact one of my fixers for info on Faraday. If he thinks no one can't get to him because he is one of the dogs that the corporations keep for their dirty work then he has another thing coming. As for the rest of you, Beca I am always happy to work with you if you need help with any job, and for Kiwi, is never a bad thing to have more runners helping you out. the offer is also for you Falco, just give me a call"
"Just remember that most of my gigs are on the quiet side of things"
Beca and Falco just laughed while Kiwi just nodded back at me.
Later that night
Once we arrived back home I went straight to take a bath. after Lucy also did the same once she came into our room we lay in our bed and I finally asked about what she found in Tanaka's head.
"So what was so bad, that had you scared back there?"
"....."
"Lucy please trust me, I can't help if I don't know what's going on"
she looked like she was hesitating on something until she just sighed
"Is about you"
"Me?" I look a little dumbstruck for a second.
"what do you mean?"
"Arasaka had a spy on Militec who was leaking information on a Project named S1 also known as Project SPARTAN 1. Militec is creating pieces of Cyberware that surpass all implants on the market. In theory, once they were done creating and testing all 22 pieces of Cyberware they would have a super soldier who would be stronger, faster, and deadlier than any cyborg. The first prototype was a Sandevistan that was tested by a high officer in the military. I read in the report that he could not handle the strain on his nerves and went psycho."
"That is the Sandi I have is in it?"
"From the story you told about how your Mom got it, then I would said yes"
"But wait. I don't understand, how Arasaka knew that I have it?"
"They don't"
"What?"
"When I was looking for the data I came upon the information on the spy that Arasaka planted on Militec to steal the data on the prototypes. After I kept digging and found that the transmitter the spy put in the Sandevistan to send the data to Arasaka was destroyed. After I found a list of suspects that might have the prototype. The list had 5 names. Raul Diaz, Michael Garner, Ana Garcia, Willian Philips and Gloria Martinez".
I sighed and thought to myself (of course they would suspect Mom. She was one of the EMTs who picked the body of the guy who had my Sandi.)
"After I saw your Mom's name I kept looking for information and found your name on the list of suspects to still be found. from the logs, I found Tanaka was in charge of a team of runners who would look for information on the suspects. They had already crossed 3 out of the 6 and you and your Mom were going to be next."
"Lucy please tell me you did not plan to go by yourself to kill those runners"
"David you don't know Arasaka as I do, they will not stop until they find what they're looking for"
"Maybe you are right, but I can at least help you"
she just hugged me and did not say anything.
"I will help you get rid of the runners and after you can help me get rid of Faraday"
she chuckled a little and started kissing me while undressing me.
well is going to be a long night.
