Chapter 24 - The Iron Beasts of the Deep

James stood on the deck of the INS Hope, the Imperial Navy's flagship aircraft carrier, gazing out at the endless expanse of ocean. The salty sea air filled his lungs as he watched the sun rise over the horizon.

He had recently returned from the Kingdom of Britannia, where he had established a strong political relationship with the Kingdom. However, the Emperor's sudden order had recalled him to Babylon, and James had been forced to hand over his duties to Diplomat Joseph.

But now, James was being sent to Taku. The Tekuans, as they were known, lived on a vast island of 356,789 square kilometers, and were said to be a primitive and powerful people. James had heard stories of their incredible strength, and their isolationist tendencies.

James's mission was to establish a political relationship with the Tekuans, to bring them into the fold of the empire's influence. It would not be an easy task, but James was confident in his abilities. He had a reputation for being the most skilled diplomats in the empire, and he was determined to succeed.

As he turned to re-enter the ship's interior, James's thoughts strayed to the Tekuans. What would they be like? Would they be receptive to the empire's overtures, or would they resist? James's mind was already racing with strategies and tactics, as he prepared to face the challenges ahead.

The INS Hope's captain, a gruff but capable man named Rovin, approached James. "Foreign Minister, we're approaching the island of Taku. We'll be entering their territorial waters within the hour."

Captain Rovin was a tall, imposing figure, with a broad chest and shoulders. His dark hair was flecked with grey, and his sharp jawline was accentuated by a small scar above his left eyebrow.

Captain Rovin wears a Standard Imperial navy uniform. The dark blue jacket was adorned with a plethora of medals and ribbons.

On his left breast, a gleaming silver eagle pin marked his rank as a captain, while a row of gold braid adorned his sleeves. A silver stripe ran along the edge of his collar, indicating his status as a senior officer.

The jacket itself was made of a durable, high-tech material that was both flexible and resistant to damage. It was adorned with intricate piping and embroidery, showcasing the Imperial Navy's emblem on the shoulder boards.

A silver nameplate on his right breast bore his name, "Rovin", in bold, block letters. Below it, a small, intricately designed pin marked his ship, the INS Hope.

His trousers were a matching dark blue, with a thin, red stripe running down the outside of each leg. His boots were polished to a high shine, with a subtle, silver buckle that bore the Imperial Navy's emblem.

On his head, Rovin wore a crisp, white cap, adorned with a gold braid and a silver anchor emblem on the front. The cap was perfectly creased, with a sharp, precise angle that added to his imposing presence.

"AH"

James walked into the room, his eyes scanning the holographic displays and data streams that lined the walls. Admiral Thompson looked up from his console, his expression serious and concerned.

"Ah, Foreign Minister," the Admiral said, his voice laced with a hint of warning, as he gestured to a holographic display. "From what we've gathered, the Tekuans are a force to be reckoned with. Physically imposing, fierce warriors... We've had reports of them using primitive but effective tactics, like ambushes and guerrilla warfare. And, of course, there's the... other issue."

James walked over to the display, his eyes narrowing as he examined the hologram. "You mean the cannibalism?" he asked, his voice low and even.

The Admiral nodded, his expression grim. "Yes, Foreign Minister. We've had reports of the Tekuans engaging in ritualistic cannibalism, particularly when it comes to their enemies. It's a... delicate situation, to say the least."

James's eyes widened slightly as he processed the information. "That's concerning," he said. "Do you think they'd be open to a peaceful resolution?"

The Admiral shrugged, leaning against the console, his eyes locked on James's. "Hard to say, Foreign Minister. The Tekuans are a proud people, and they won't take kindly to being told what to do. But if we approach them with respect and caution, we might be able to find common ground. Just... be careful, okay? We don't want to risk anyone's safety."

James nodded, walking over to a nearby chair and sitting down. "I see what you mean," he said. "That's why I was bringing a small delegation to meet with their King. What do you think?"

The Admiral walked over to the chair and sat down across from James, his expression serious. "That's a good idea, Foreign Minister," he said. "A small delegation would show that we're willing to listen and negotiate. Just make sure to choose your team wisely - we don't want any... misunderstandings. And, please, for the love of all that's holy, be careful. We don't want to lose anyone to... those people."

James nodded, pulling out a datapad and starting to scroll through it. "I was bringing Diplomat and our cultural expert," he said. "They've got experience with tribal societies and might be able to help us navigate the Tekuans' customs."

The Admiral nodded, impressed, but still looking concerned. "Good choice, Foreign Minister. Just remember to keep your wits about you, and don't make any promises you can't keep. And, again, please be careful. We don't want to risk anyone's safety."

James smiled, standing up. "Will do, Admiral. Thanks for the advice. I'll go brief the team and get everything ready."

The Admiral called after him, his voice laced with concern. "Good luck with the negotiations, Foreign Minister. We're all counting on you. And, please, don't forget to watch your back. We don't want to lose you to those... cannibals."

James turned back, smiling, but his eyes betraying a hint of unease. "Thanks, Admiral. I'll need it."

As he exited the room, the Admiral couldn't help but think to himself, "I hope he knows what he's getting himself into... Those Tekuans are not to be trifled with."

★★★

James walked into the briefing room, where his team was already assembled.  Rachel , a Diplomat and cultural expert on tribal societies was sipping a cup of coffee. And Lieutenant Commander Lewis, Their security incharge .

"Alright, team," James said, taking a deep breath. "Here's the situation. We're about go to Taku Capital, and we need to make a good impression. Rachel, can you walk us through the protocol?"

Rachel nodded, setting her cup down. "Yes, Foreign Minister. The Tekuans are a highly ritualized society. We'll need to show respect for their customs and traditions. "

"The Tekuans place a high value on honor and loyalty. We should avoid direct eye contact, as it's seen as a challenge. And we should be prepared to offer gifts, as a symbol of our good intentions."

Lieutenant Commander Lewis said nothing

James nodded, impressed." Alright, let's get moving."

The team stood up, gathering their gear. James led the way out of the briefing room.

———

The INS Hope, a behemoth of a ship, sliced through the calm waters of the Teku sea territory, its massive hull and towering superstructure an imposing sight to behold. The ship's flight deck, stretching over 1,100 feet in length, was a bustling hub of activity, with sleek, high-tech fighter jets and advanced helicopters parked in neat rows.

As the INS Hope entered Teku waters, it was accompanied by its escort battleship, the INS Bismarck, a formidable warship with enough firepower to take on an entire fleet. And Also , Five Destroyers

The Teku war canoes, adorned with colorful feathers and intricate carvings. The Teku warriors, clad in loincloths and feathered headdresses, brandished spears and obsidian-tipped clubs, their faces painted

James, standing on the bridge of the INS Hope, gazed out at the impressive display of Teku naval power. "Admiral, it seems we've got a welcoming committee," he said, nodding towards the war canoes.

Admiral, standing beside him, nodded gravely.

Teku's POV

As the INS Hope and its escort vessels entered the Teku sea territory, the warriors in the war canoes gazed up at the massive ships in awe and terror. The Teku people had never seen anything like these behemoths before. The battleships loomed over them, their steel body glinting in the sunlight like the scales of giant sea serpents.

The warriors' initial bravado and determination to defend their territory began to falter as they took in the sheer size and firepower of the ships. They had heard stories of the "iron beasts" that roamed the oceans, but they had never thought they would see them up close.

One of the Teku warriors, a young man named Kanaq, let out a terrified cry as he gazed up at the INS Bismarck. "Kai'kai!" he shouted, pointing a shaking finger at the battleship. "The monster of the deep has come to devour us!"

The other warriors began to murmur and whisper among themselves, their eyes fixed on the ships. They had never seen anything so massive and intimidating before. The colorful feathers and intricate carvings on their war canoes seemed pitifully inadequate against the might of these iron beasts.

Their leader, the fierce and proud Taku Warrior, Qkua, stood tall in the prow of the lead war canoe, his eyes blazing with a mix of fear and defiance. He raised his arms to the sky and let out a mighty roar, as if to summon the gods themselves to aid his people.

But even Qkua's bravery was beginning to waver. He had never seen anything like these before, and he knew that his people were no match for them. He glanced around at his warriors, seeing the fear and uncertainty in their eyes.

For a moment, the Teku warriors forgot about their spears and clubs, forgot about their duty to defend their territory. They forgot about everything except the monsters that loomed over them, Battleships guns and cannons glinting in the sunlight like the teeth of a predator.

And then, as one, they turned and paddled away from the ships, their war canoes disappearing into the safety of the nearby islands. The Teku people had retreated, their tails between their legs, as they tried to make sense of the monsters that had invaded their waters.

As the Teku war canoes disappeared into the islands, the crew of the INS Hope breathed a collective sigh of relief. The tension on the bridge dissipated, and the Admiral turned to James with a nod.

"Well, Minister, it seems we've avoided a confrontation. For now, at least."

James nodded, his eyes still fixed on the viewscreen. "Yes, Admiral."

Britannia Kingdom.

Prime Minister Winston, Queen Maria, and Duke Barco gathered in a private chamber within the palace, surrounded by maps and documents. The atmosphere was one of excitement and anticipation, as they discussed the next steps in their newly formed alliance with the Empire.

"Your Majesty," Prime Minister Winston began, "I believe it would be wise to send a team of our finest diplomats and scholars to negotiate with the government of the Empire. We must ensure that our trade agreements are fair and beneficial to both our nations."

"I agree," Queen Maria replied, her eyes sparkling with determination. "We must also take this opportunity to learn more about the Empire's culture, their people, and their innovations. We have much to gain from this alliance."

"I propose that we send a team of five," Duke Barco suggested. " One diplomat, one scholar, one merchant, One Mage and one knight. This will give us a well-rounded delegation, capable of negotiating trade agreements, learning about the Empire's culture, and assessing their military capabilities."

"I concur," Queen Maria said, nodding in agreement. "And I think I have the perfect person in mind for the scholar position. Milana. She would be an excellent choice to represent our kingdom."

"Countess Milana would be an excellent addition to the delegation," Prime Minister Winston agreed. "Countess Milana has brought us many diplomatic successes before."

"I will speak with Milana immediately," Queen Maria said, a smile spreading across her face. "I'm sure she will be thrilled to accept this opportunity."

"I recommend sending Count Sam as One of Diplomat ," Duke Barco said. "He is a simple, yet effective negotiator. And for the merchant, I suggest sending Marquis Nile. He is well-versed in trade and commerce."

"And for the knight?" Queen Maria asked, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

"I recommend sending Aqua, Your Majesty," Duke Barco replied. "She is an honorable and skilled knight, and her presence will ensure the safety of our delegation."

"And for the Mage I recommend sending Lyra Martine. The Strongest Mage in Britannia"

"I approve of your choices, gentlemen," Queen Maria said, a smile spreading across her face. "Let us prepare our delegation and send them to the Empire. I have no doubt that they will return with tales of wonder and discovery."

"I will ensure that the delegation is briefed on their duties and prepared for their journey," Prime Minister Winston said, making a note on his parchment.

"Excellent," Queen Maria said, nodding in approval. "Let us make the most of this opportunity. Milana, Count Sam, Marquis Nile, Lyra Moonwhisper and Aqua will make an excellent team. I have no doubt that they will succeed in their mission."

The three of them nodded in agreement, their minds racing with the possibilities that lay ahead. They were determined to make the most of this historic opportunity.
