Chapter 10 - ““Today, we make history”

Colonel Hans stood tall and proud in front of his troops, his voice booming across the training ground. The soldiers stood at attention, their eyes fixed on their commanding officer, ready to follow his every word.

"Men, we have been given a mission by General Marcus," Colonel Hans began, his voice filled with determination.

"We are to march into the forest and engage the primitive tribes and conquer the East. It is our duty to bring order to this chaotic land and show these savages the might of our army."

The soldiers cheered in response, their spirits high as they prepared for battle. Colonel Hans continued, his words filled with conviction.

"We have the best tanks, the best weapons, and the best training. We are a force to be reckoned with, and we will not be stopped by a bunch of tree-dwelling primitives. We will crush them under our boots and show them the power of the Emperor."

The soldiers cheered again, their confidence growing with every word spoken by their leader. Colonel Hans raised his fist in the air, a look of determination on his face.

"Men, prepare your tanks, load your weapons, and get ready for battle. Today, we march into the forest and show these tribes what it means to face the might of the army of the Empire!"

The soldiers erupted into cheers, their excitement palpable as they prepared for the upcoming battle. Colonel Hans smiled, a sense of pride filling his chest as he looked out at his troops.

"Today, we make history, men. Today, we show the world what it means to be a soldier of the Imperial army. Today, we fight for victory!"

With a resounding cheer, the soldiers prepare their weapons and prepared to march into the forest. Ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. The soldiers followed their leader with unwavering loyalty, their tanks rumbling behind them as they prepared to engage the primitive tribes in a battle that would go down in history.

*************

The sun was setting on the horizon, casting a warm glow over the calm waters of the Ocean. The INS Ramage, a state-of-the-art destroyer, is a scout mission. They were ordered to enter the sea a hundred kilometers from the island's coast. The radar suddenly picked up a massive blip on the screen.

Captain Paul peered at the screen, his brow furrowed in confusion. "What in the world is that?" he muttered to himself.

The crew scrambled to get a visual on the mysterious blip, but before they could even get a glimpse, a massive tentacle shot out of the water, wrapping around the ship's hull with a deafening crack.

Panic erupted on the deck as the crew members scrambled to their battle stations. The monstrous sea creature, with its massive body covered in scales and its glowing red eyes, emerged from the depths, roaring in fury.

The crew of the INS Ramage sprang into action, firing their weapons at the sea monster with all their might. But the creature seemed impervious to their attacks, its thick scales deflecting the bullets and missiles with ease.

As the battle raged on, the sea monster unleashed its full fury on the navy ship, tearing through the hull with its razor-sharp teeth and powerful tentacles. The crew fought bravely, but it was clear that they were no match for the ancient beast.

Captain Paul knew that they needed to come up with a plan fast if they were to stand any chance of surviving this encounter. He ordered the crew to deploy depth charges in an attempt to drive the creature back into the depths.

As the depth charges exploded around the sea monster, it let out a deafening roar of pain and anger. It thrashed about in the water, its massive body creating a whirlpool that threatened to swallow the INS Ramage whole.

But just as it seemed like all hope was lost, a squadron of fighter jets swooped in, unleashing a barrage of missiles at the sea monster. The combined firepower of the INS Ramage and the fighter jets proved to be too much for the creature to handle, and with one final roar, it sank back into the depths, defeated.

The crew of the INS Ramage let out a collective sigh of relief, their hearts pounding in their chests. They had faced a true monster of the deep and emerged victorious, but they knew that this would not be the last time they would encounter such a creature.

★★★——

Alberto stood on the balcony of his palace, the air thick with the scent of exotic blossoms. He sees skyscraper buildings in the city. His summons thrummed with life – a symphony of human endeavor orchestrated by the system beyond his understanding.

Two months. It had been more than two months  since he was reincarnated. – This world. Months of relentless building, expanding, securing, summoning armies, of bartering for technology that defied the very laws of physics, of building a gleaming metropolis on the bones of jungle.

"It is a magnificent view, isn't it, Your Highness?"

The voice, a low rumble tinged with an almost paternal pride, drew Alberto from his thoughts. He turned to see Alfred, his chief butler, standing a respectful distance behind him. Alfred, with his silver hair, his impeccably tailored uniform, and the ever-present air of quiet competence.

"It's… impressive, Alfred," Alberto conceded, his voice lacking the enthusiasm he knew was expected of an emperor surveying his domain.

Alfred, ever perceptive, picked up on his master's melancholic tone. "You seem troubled, Your Highness. May I inquire as to the cause?"

He settled for a non-committal shrug. "Just thinking about… responsibilities."

A flicker of sympathy softened Alfred's features. "Your burdens are heavy, indeed, Your Highness. But you bear them with grace and fort—"

"Grace?" The laughter ripped from him, a raw, broken sound. They were words better suited to the man he'd once been – Lieutenant Alberto, decorated war hero. The man who, looking back, seemed like a stranger to him now.

Alberto closed his eyes, He'd been just a boy when the drums of war had begun their relentless beat, the echoes of his father's sacrifice in the Great War. He'd become the man of the house - or so he'd thought, with a boy's earnestness - caring for his mother, his sisters Maria and Lucia, his younger brother Francesco.

He'd seen things, done things, that still clawed at the edges of his sleep, turning dreams into nightmares. The faces of young recruits, barely old enough to shave, twisted in death masks of terror and pain. The enemy, dehumanized by propaganda, revealed in their final moments as boys.

"My lord?" Alfred's voice, laced with concern, pulled him back from the precipice of memory.

He opened his eyes, the cityscape, shimmering before him.

"It's nothing," he murmured, the lie tasting like ash on his tongue.

"Tell me, Alfred," he said, his voice raspy with disuse, "Do you ever wonder why we're here?"

Alfred hesitated, a flicker of something unreadable in his usually placid eyes. "It is not our place, Your Highness, to question—I am bound to serve, My Emperor," he replied. "My purpose is only to serve you."

A humorless smile touched Alberto's lips. "And what of those we conquer, Alfred? Do they share this… purpose?"

Alfred seemed to stiffen at the question, his gaze hardening. "The Emperor's will is absolute, Your Highness. To question it is not our place."

Alberto sighed. He envied Alfred's certainty, his unwavering belief in the rightness of their cause.

I was a soldier, also a teacher before joining the war– But those are past now. I remembered the eager faces of hmy students, their thirst for knowledge, their belief in a brighter future. Could I, with a clear conscience, impose my will on another people, another culture, in the name of progress? But At present, I am a leader, a Emperor. People summoned through the system won't go against me though. But I could not be weak. Because the boundaries of my territory are constantly increasing. And if I wants to be a worthy ruler, I has to be strict. I could not rely on the system to rule. I has to build myself for the future. Because no matter how strong a country is, if its leader is weak, it will not take long for that country to fall.
