"Joseph Hamilton!" Dianne called out loud.
Joseph sighed deeply and looked at his fiancée with an irritable look. Dianne with a clearly mad look stomped her way toward him. Her heels were stomping on the floor so loud that it could wake up anyone who was sleeping.
*CLACK CLACK CLACK*
Joseph saw Yvette's eyebrows scrunch and it made him irrited with Dianne's behavoir. When Dianne was about to open her mouth which he had anticipated would come out as a scolding, he hurriedly stood up and grabbed Dianne on the arm.
"Come here…" Joseph said with an irritated look and pulled Dianne out of the room.
"W-What are you doing… Seph?!" Dianne scolded once they were outside.
Joseph closed the door to the room so that the sound of their voices could not disturb the sleeping Yvette.
"What were you thinking barging in a patient's room like that?!" Joseph scolded Dianne in which the latter was surprised. "You know it is common courtesy to keep quite around a patient!"
"S-Seph I…" Dianne did not know what to say. This was the first time Joseph had scolded her and it was a surprising experience.
Joseph inhaled a deep breath to calm down his raising emotions. He also knew that this was the first time he had raised his voice to Dianne and her surprised face was very evident for him to see.
"Tell me… what is it that you want?" Joseph said with a flat and uncaring voice.
"I-It's just about what happened in the reading, Seph." Dianne who had an angry face barging inside the room where Yvette was resting quickly became docile. "Let's talk about this. My father knows a good lawyer that can help you… help us in this situation. We cannot let what your father wrote in his last will come true, it is so unfair to you… to us."
Dianne stroked Joseph's arms sweetly, an action she had always done when coaxing him with whatever she wants. But she was surprised when Joseph brushed of her hand from his arm.
"Dianne, let us just call it a day." Joseph replied with a sigh. "I know many things happened earlier and a lot of emotions were all over the place. Yvette also got really sick after everything that has happened and the doctor suggested her to rest. You just go home for now and I will call you once everything has calmed down, okay?" He said with a calm voice.
"Then let's just go home together." Dianne still tried to sweeten up towards Joseph. She does not want to lose her grip on him not even a second. "You can just let Gregory watch over Yvette and take her home when everything is okay. Please, Seph. I need you right now."
Dianne encircled her arms around Joseph's waist and hugged him seductively. She whispered her last words to him near his ear, making her intentions to him evident.
'Just leave her be and come with me.' Dianne thought. 'I am the one you love, and I know how to push your buttons.'
Dianne had her hands crawl seductively on Joseph's back. She curled her body towards his.
"Please, Seph." Dianne said with a sweet and seductive voice. "Woth everything that is going on, I need you to hug me tight in your arms."
Dianne can feel Joseph's arms moving up her body. She was anticipating him to hug her thight. A smile has already crept on her face since she knew that her seductive actions always trigger Joseph.
"You go home first, Dianne." Joseph said while holding her shoulders and pushing her gently away. "Yvette needs me right now. I have left her all so many times that I an feeling regret. I will call you tomorrow, okay? I am also not sure if we can see each other by tomorrow."
Dianne was surprised with Joseph's actions. This was not the outcome she was hoping for. She always get the reaction she wants from him, and the difference today had made her blood boil.
"Are you choosing her because of what is written in the will?!" Dianne shouted. "Are you choosing her over me?!"
"Dianne, calm down." Joseph tried to calm her down. "It is not what you think."
"What do you mean it is not what I think?!" Dianned roared in anger. "You are clearly choosing her for the CEO position! You want the position so badly that you are thinking of really marrying her."
"Dianne! Please… just stop.It is not what you think. " Joseph sighed. "It has been a long day and our emotions are totally out of control. Just go home. I do not want to have this quarrel right now. I'll just call you tomorrow." His face showed his tiredness. He did not wish to quarrel with Dianne.
"I know you are thinking of marrying her, Seph. I know there is that voice in the back of your mind telling you to go for it." Dianne still continued arguing. "I never thought you will be this greedy and dump me for her, Seph!" Tears started to flow from her eyes.
"Please Dianne…" Joseph begged. He frlt quite tired to have this conversation right now.
"I know that you already know that b*tches feelings for you. Don't try to deny it!" Dianne shouted in anger. "That b*tch was always clinging close to you in the guise of being a little sister. She was always trying to take away your attention away from me, and now this? She is trying to steal you away and you are you are entertaining the idea since you are so greedy with the position. I never thought she is such a wh*re!"
"Shut up!!!" Joseph roared in anger. "I do not mind you talking bad about me but do not ever talk about Yvette like that! She is a sweet girl and I could never imagine her doing what you are saying."
"Open your eyes, Seph! She had lusted for you all these years and stayed clinging by your side even though we are together!" Dianne roared back. "If she is not a f*cking wh*re, then what is she? Well, a gold digger perhaps?"
"That is enough!" Joseph scolded. "I do not want to hear anyone bad mouth my sister especially you, Dianne."
"Fine then!" Dianne said. "Be together with your f*cking little sister for all I care!"
Dianne stormed away with her footsteps echoing through the halls. She was expecting Joseph to run after her. They never had a quarrel where Joseph had let her go home mad. He was always the one to give in and say sorry. She knew she can be capricious since Joseph was always in the palm of her hand.
Dianne turned the corner and stopped. She waited to hear footsteps coming after her but to her surprise there was none. What she heard was the door closing. She looked back at the corridor she came from and it was indeed empty.
"Joseph, you fool!" Dianne said to herself. Tears were falling from her eyes. "Wait and see. I would not let you ogg the hook when you come running and begging for my forgiveness, hmp." She stomped away angrily.
**
Back inside the room, Joseph took his seat once again by Yvette's side. He gently caressed her forehead and he had a sigh if relief feeling her temperature coming back to normal.
Joseph looked at Yvette's sleeping face and his heart started to thump loudly in his chest. He remember Dianne's words just now.
"Do you really have feelings for me, Yvs?" Joseph asked in a low voice. "I saw some hints but I have always brushed it off. This feeling… can I really have this towards you?"
Joseph remembered his first time seeing the six years old Yvette in her parent's wake. She was wearing a black attire that was big on her little body. It was evident that she hasn't been cared for completely in the foster home she was in after her parent's died. The first thing he felt was pity. He vowed that he would take care of this little girl in front of him.
After his father had adopted her, that is what he definitely did. Joespeh became a reliable older brother and doted on his new little sister. What he was amazed of was this little girl had stayed humble all these years even until into adulthood. He had completely spoiled Yvette, the same as his father did, but she never once took that for granted.
Joseph watched Yvette grow up and studied hard to achieve her goals. She had never asked for his or his father's help if she can help it. This made him watch Yvette even more. As the years go by, he unconsciously nurtured his feelings inside his heart.
Joseph became conscious of his feelings once Yvette turned sixteen. She had started to grow as a young lady and her beauty was starting to show. Once he knew that he had feelings for her, he quickly supressed them thinking that it was not morally acceptable. He was afraid that Yvette would be disgusted by him if she knew since she had always smiled at him as an older brother.
That was when he thought he needed to distract himself from his feelings. He needed to find someone that he could divert his feelings to, and that was when he first met Dianne in college. They hit it off from the start, and with her father also a rising businessman in the same hotel industry he knew she was a good fit for him.
Years passed and the diversion was successful. Joseph thought that he had already burried his feelings for Yvette and have now accepted Dianne in his heart. But all of that changed today. He felt fear when he heard Yvette wanted to take back her parent's surname and will leave him.
"If what Dianne said is true and you do have feelings for me, can I also let this feelings I burried long ago surface?" Joseph said. "Yvs, can I now openly love you?"
Joseph looked at Yvette who was sleeping peacefully. He held her hand that felt warm.
"Please do not leave me, Yvs." Joseph said with his face tinged with pain. "I don't think I could take it if I lose you."
Joseph's words fell on deaf ear since Yvette was in deep sleep. She was dreaming of the past life she had before she regressed.
