(A/N: To Frescko: Zack can form thread like material from plants like vines. I was just building up the scene. XD sorry.)
It has been a total of three months - according to Yu- since I took Yang to fish for the first time.
The stars she gained in her eyes when she ate fish for the first time is something I will remember forever.
Anyway, I did some renovation around the cave to make it more home-like. Yu, obviously, complained and tried to stop me but after I pointed out that her not caring about human luxuries is still no excuse to live like a bear in the wild, she allowed me to fix things up. The offer to make her a room for her own where she won't be bothered may have helped convince her.
It was less of a cave now and more of a home carved into the side of a mountain, The outside looked like a mountain-side by Yu's insistence because she wanted to make sure humans never find this place, but the inside was far livelier.
A large living room as soon as you enter with some wooden furniture and two rooms in the back, one for Yang and one for Yu.
There was also a study at the side with a table and a shelf that I made expertly and used to bribe- I mean, 'persuade my fellow Elemental to tone down her complaining.
No room for me because I didn't need one or actually want it. I'm actually used to just sitting around. I did it with Uruk and the Shapeless Isles, I can do it here. Yang has also been getting better when it comes to... well, everything. She's been showing way more emotions and her speaking skills were getting better.
She can use bigger sentences now, even if they're only bigger because she adds a word or two. And her vocabulary has been improving, even she still says some words wrong or knows them by the wrong name. Yu saying "she's not wrong' whenever Yang calls humans 'noisy people' is really not helping.
Yu has also been helping me learn how to keep track of time. It was not easy. It's literally trying to gain a new sense, after all. But, I improved a bit and now I can keep track of a few days passing at most. Still a big
improvement. All and all, things were pretty decent.
"Brat, go get me some herbs."
Until Yu said that.
I looked at her in confusion as she was looking at Yang who was watching the fish swim in their bond.
"Why are you asking her that?" I asked with a tilt of my head.
"I'm out of stuff to add to the tea. I want her to go get me some," Yu said back as if she's talking about the weather.
"So, you want me and Yang-"
"No, just her."
"Woah, woah, woah! Time out!" I said while doing a time-out motion with my hands. "You want to send her out on her own? Look, if you just want a few plants, I can just grow some right here and now."
"So, you want to continue to baby her?" Yu asked, crossing her arms.
"What does that have to do with anything?!" I asked.
"She's gonna need to go out on her own sooner or later. Might as well let her get used to it now. The place I'm sending her to is mostly empty. She shouldn't have any problems or encounter any humans," Yu explained without a care.
"Well... She... You..." I got nothing.
Because she's right. I can't baby Yang forever and she WILL need to learn on how to survive on her own. But isn't this too soon?!
I know this sounds like an overprotective parent, but
STILL!
Yu walked to the study and pulled out a white flower with yellow insides. "Follow me, brat," Yang nodded and they both went out of the cave.
Obviously, I followed.
Third POV:
Yu walked down the mountain with Yang and Zack following her. When they reached the forest at the bottom, Yu held the hand holding the flower towards
the Oni-Hybrid. "Okay, listen carefully," Yang nodded. "I need you to go
in this direction and gather flowers that look exactly
like this. Got it?"
"Gather only white flower," Yang repeated. "Exactly. And no, you can't eat them," Yang frowned at
Yu's follow up statement. "Alright, take this to remember how they look," she gave the flower to the young girl and turned to Zack. "Give her something to gather them with."
Zack groaned with a shake of his head before creating a thin basket. He handed it to Yang, who held it under her arm while holding the flower in the other hand.
"Okay, go. And avoid the noisy people," Yu instructed and Yang nodded before walking off on the direction she was told to go. When the Oni hybrid vanished between the trees, Yu spoke again, "I have to say, you're being more calm than-" She stopped as she turned around and saw that Zack was no longer there.
"Of course he's gone." Meanwhile, Zack was in his wind element, watching
Yang from a safe distance in the sky. "Making sure she is okay is not babying her," Zack said more to himself than as a fact.
He watched as Yang walked around and managed to actually find a few flowers of the same kind that Yu told her to get. She kept at her pace and was slowly beginning to fill the basket.
Yang suddenly froze as she was picking up another flower after hearing a branch break. She turned around and saw... absolutely nothing.
Yang looked around for a minute before shrugging her shoulders and going back to picking flowers.
What Yang didn't see was Zack high in the air... holding the tiger that had just attempted to jump her by the neck.
"I am really in a bad mood," Zack said as the tiger growled and tried to claw off his hand. "So, you really should be smart about this-"
Zack's face was scattered as the tiger's claws connected to it, but the air just flew back in place and it reformed.
Zack deadpanned at the tiger... before turning to his fire element.
First POV: Zack
Walking back into the cave, I did my best to try ignoring Yu's deadpan tired look as I walked towards one of the chairs.
"Really?"
"What? I was just out for a walk," I lied while sitting down across her.
Yu was gonna say something but stopped before her face scrunched. "Why do you smell of burned flesh and ashes?" She asked.
"... Why do YOU have some blood on your after you came back from some of your errands?"
We just quietly stared at each other in very awkward and uncomfortable silence before we heard Yand return to the cave.
"I find flower," she announced while holding the now full basket.
Yu walked up to her and took the box before nodding. "Not bad."
Wow, that was actually the first actual compliment she gave Yang.
"Good job, Yang," I praised as I came in while Yu walked away and pat the girl on the head while avoiding the horns on her forehead.
Yang smiled at praise. Even if it was a really small smile, I was happy she was being more open with her emotions. She-
"Brat," we turned to Yu who was holding up a stem of a flower. As in just the stem. "Did you try eating some of these?"
Yang looked at Yu for a few seconds before turning away. "I no eat flower."
Oh yeah. She was also picking up lying.
