After stopping Yang's attempts at breathing under water and teaching her that 'air good and water in nose is bad', I finally made a couple of wooden spears for us to fish with.
Sadly, none of my elements could made something like a string.
"Okay, so, unlike cows, fish are very slippery," I began explaining to Yang as she looked at her spear while glancing at the water. "That's why you have to time it right."
Yang reacted like I expected, which is beginning to poke the water with the wooden spear. Okay, I admit that's cute.
"Here, let me show you," I said as I held my spear and reeled my hand back.
I saw a few fishes swimming around. When I believed the time was right, I hurled my spear at one of them and it stabbed the bottom of the river.
I reached forward and pulled my spear out and saw it struck... nothing.
I just stared at the wet spear while Yang tilted her head at me. "Where feesh?"
"... Yeah, screw this," I broke the spear in half and threw the pieces over my shoulder before turning to my water element and jumping into the water.
A little fun fact: Fish don't swim away if you're made of water.
Yu stared at me as I carried a wooden basket filled with fish while Yang held one in her hands. Why was she staring?
Well, the basket may or may not have been as big as a couple of cows put together.
"Were you trying to deprive all the nation of their fish?" Yu asked.
"They're not THAT much," I mumbled while looking away.
Yang was holding the fish with both hands and trying to make sure it doesn't slip away. The first time she tried to hold one, it just kept slipping out of her grasp and it was borderline adorable.
"Where do you even plan to keep this much fish?" Yu asked.
Thankfully, I managed to think this far ahead. "Well, here," I walked to the very back of the cave and changed to my rock element.
I made a large hole in the ground and went back to get the basket. I tilted it towards the hole and Yu looked surprised as water began pouring with fish in it.
"What? Did you think we were gonna transport a pile of dry fish here?" I asked and Yang walked closer to the hole before the fish she was holding wiggled and slipped out of her grasp.
Yang tried to catch the fish as it jumped out of her grasp, but it fell into the hole with the other fish.
When the basket was empty, I turned to my water element and filled the rest of the hole.
"So, you expect me to put up with the smell of fish now?" Yu asked.
"Don't you have a way to deal with that?"
Yu sighed in response to my question and rolled her eyes. She went to the table she usually reads at and took out a slip of paper.
Yu then bit her pointer finger hard enough for it to bleed and then used it like a pen to write on the paper. When she was done, a talisman was in her hand. She did that four more times, giving her a total of five talismans.
She walked back and placed the talismans around the hole, forming a circle. When she was done, the talismans glowed and a transparent wall was formed around the fish bond.
"There, that should keep the smell in check," Yu said while dusting her hands.
I'm pretty positive I just witnessed someone using ancient Chinese sorcery from the age of gods just to deal with fish smell.
Yeah, we Elementals are definitely different than humans.
"Hey, can you teach me how to make these?" I asked while pointing at the Talismans as Yang was about to grab one.
"Don't touch!" Yang froze and started slowly bringing back her hand as Yu glared at her. "And yes, I can teach you."
"Great!" I slapped my hands together. "So, when do we start?"
Yu looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Start what?"
"Aren't you going to teach me how to make these talismans?"
"What gave you that idea?" Yu asked me before snapping a glare at Yang.
"Don't. Touch!" The girl slowly retracted her hand from the glowing talisman. She then turned back to me. "I said I CAN teach you, not that I will."
I deadpanned at Yu for her use of semantics. Honestly, I'm just curious to learn new stuff. I'm going to be around for a LONG time, so I might use that time productive-
"BRAT! I TOLD YOU DON'T TOUCH!"
