You know, I've REALLY thought I've seen it all.
I've had chats with Tiamat and Yggdrasil, both of which have existed since creation. I've played cards with Gilgamesh and Enkidu, and I spent time with THE Medusa.
But nothing, and I mean NOTHING prepared me for a creature that looks like a boar with a butt for a head. I honestly had to stop for several seconds and actually try to register what I was seeing.
I sensed a human village in danger and when I got there all I found was this... thing stomping around and destroying crops. It wasn't even attacking anyone or killing anything. It was just big enough to just destroy crops by walking around.
It walked on several limbs. It had a few feathered wings and... that's it. Beyond that, it literally had a butt for a face.
I'm still not over that.
"O... kay," I mumbled as I landed in front of that thing and... I honestly didn't know where to look. "Uh... listen, big guy, can you even hear me?"
Judging by the fact it stopped and turned- or at least I think it did - to look at me, it most likely did.
"Look, you might wanna go somewhere else. You're really scaring people," I said while pointing over my shoulder to the wooden houses of the village where the people were hiding.
It didn't really look 'evil. It honestly just looked like it was walking around. There wasn't any reason for me to fight it if it can be reasoned wit Suddenly, with surprising speed, that thing dashed towards me and actually crushed my body with one of its large legs.
"Oh, you want to get rough?" I groaned as my body reformed from air. "Well, let's- Wait, where are you going?!" That thing suddenly turned around, ran, flapped it's wings and actually started flying away from the village.
I genuinely was too shocked to give a chase or try to find that thing, so I just flew away before the humans saw me and headed to the cave me and Yu have been staying in.
"Oh, you're back already?" Yu asked as she placed down her teacup.
"Uh... Yeah. I definitely need help understanding what just happened," I just replied and she gave me a confused look.
light on my situation. "Oh, you encountered Hun Dun?"
After explaining what happened, she finally shed some
"Hun Dun?" I asked.
"It's one of this nations four great evils. The disappearing of mystics caused it to be far weaker than it used to be. In the past, the whole nation would know when that thing is walking around," she explained.
"That... thing was supposed to be a 'great evil'?" I truly had a problem processing this.
Yu shrugged her shoulders. "Appearances can be deceiving. It took me a decade or two to actually accept that truth."
I don't blame her one bit. "But that doesn't explain why it ran away," I pointed out.
"That's just how Hun Dun is. It's a creature of Primordial chaos. There's no order to the things it does. There's actually a chance it would have offered you tea instead of attacking from how chaotic it can be," Yu explained sounding like she herself was actually forcing that logic on her own mentality.
"So... one of China's greatest evil creatures is a Primordial butt-faced being that does things at complete random for no reason at all? Not even instinct?" The dead look on Yu's eyes was all the confirmation I need.
Well, at least that explains why it was stomping around.
"Why do you do that?" Yu suddenly asked.
"Why do I do what?"
"Why do you protect these... hairless primates?" She asked, most likely referring to humans.
"That's a little harsh, isn't it?" I commented.
"A monkey can paint itself gold and it would still be a monkey."
I genuinely wonder if she raised Gilgamesh at one point sometimes. "Because... I like them?" I replied with a shrug.
"Look, it's not that I don't understand why you hate humans. But, they're not ALL bad. Even you have to admit that you met a human or two that you can't hate." Yu sighed and shook her head.
"Do what you want. I don't care anymore,"
I decided against pointing out that she didn't deny what I said.
I suddenly felt energies disappearing again at an unusual pace. "Well, I'll be out for a few moments again," I said and Yu just waved at me as I turned to my wind element and flew away.
I swear, if it's that butt-faced creature again, I WILL lose it.
After I reached the place where I felt energies disappearing... I actually thought that Hun Dun was better.
I found a whole field covered in blood. Guts and body parts were everywhere. If I had any organs and a nose, I would have gagged from the sheer smell af blood in the air.
In the middle of the field of blood was a girl wearing rags. Her hands were covered in blood but that didn't draw my attention as much as the horns on her forehead did.
She had a pair of horns on her forehead, both starting with the same colour as her skin-tone but turned purple as they reached the top. She had bright red long hair and purple eyes with slit pupils.
The look on her face seemed dead though as she turned and looked at me, not caring for the blood around her.
We stared at each other for a few tense. seconds of silence... before she suddenly dropped on the ground.
"Well..." I placed my hands on my waist and looked around awkwardly. "This is... definitely something."
No, really, how else was I supposed to react to this?
