I waited and watched as Svend talked to the group of humans. Their reaction to him should be better than mine since he's human. At least, I hope.
When they were done, Svend started walking towards me. He had troubled expression, but he didn't look really disappointed or disheartened.
"How did it go, kid?" I asked as he reached me.
"Well," he began scratching the back of his head. "They want me to go back to help with something with their village. Apparently, they're in some kind of trouble. They also look a little angry, I guess."
"They could be trying to lead you to a trap," I hypothesised, wondering what they could possibly want with him.
Svend shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe. But what if they REALLY need help?" He asked.
His heart was definitely in the right place.
"The choice is yours, kid," I replied. I had nothing to worry about. After all, what could they possibly have that can take down Svend? "I'll give you ten days, that should be enough for you to solve their problem and get back to our place in the forest. Just make sure you don't bring anyone with you."
"Yes, Meistari," Svend nodded as he turned back and began walking towards the people again.
I turned to my wind element and flew back to Yggdrasil. "Are you sure that's wise?" She asked as soon as I landed. She most likely saw the whole thing. I shrugged my shoulders as I took a seat in one of the stone chairs. "Hey, it was Svend's choice, and I doubt they can actually trap him. You can see the village and what's going on, do they actually have anything that would be a danger to him?" I asked.
"Well, you do have a- Urgh," Yggdrasil's reply was cut off with... a groan of pain.
"Drasil?" I asked and, to my shock, the light coming off her body dimmed. "Drasil, are you okay?!"
"Yes, I'm fine," Yggdrasil's body returned to the usual glow.
"That didn't sound like you were fine," I commented. "Zack, I have been around since the days of Ymir, do you think anything can hurt me at this point?" She asked.
Honestly, I was really concerned, but if she believed she was okay... I guess I can trust her. Whatever it was, it can't be that bad, can it?
I should have kept my trap shut.
Ten days has passed and I was about to go and check on Svend when I finally sensed him return to the forest.
"Took you long enough, kid, and here I thought I had to go and get you," I said as he walked over me with a hesitant smile. "So, what happened?" "Well... they're definitely in trouble, and I'm gonna have to go back and keep helping them," he said while
scratching the back of his head.
"You're not going to war or anything, are you?" I asked.
"Ha!" Svend barked a laugh. "That's what I'm trying to stop, honestly," he said before looking down sadly. "I... won't be able to see you for a while. Sorry, Meistari." "It's alright, kid, if anything I'm glad," I replied while crossing my arms. "It's good to see you getting connected to other humans. I was actually getting worried about that."
Svend let out a breath, looking way more relaxed.
"Thank you, Meistari," he said before half turning around. "I'll see you as soon as I can."
"Take care, kid."
