Nabil charged toward the fat demon again, he noticed something strange. The creature was motionless, its grotesque eyes fixed on him. Just as he was about to strike, a winged demon swooped down, landing between him and his target. With a swift, precise slash, Nabil severed the creature's throat, but as its body fell, the fat demon vanished into thin air.
"What the…?" Nabil breathed, staring at the empty spot where the demon had stood. A shadowy figure lingered briefly in its place before disappearing.
Above them, the swarm of flying demons also vanished into nothingness.
Athoi landed beside him, her face pale with confusion. "What just happened? Where did they go?"
