At the same moment, Athoi delivered her final, decisive stab to the glowing tattoo. Time seemed to freeze for a split second, then, with a deafening explosion, the spider's body detonated in a massive blast of energy.
Athoi, exhausted and in her bunny form, fell toward the ground, her strength fading. But before she could hit the earth, Nabil, now slowly transforming back into his human form, caught her gently with his wings. His dragon form melted away, leaving him as the human Nabil once again. As he tried to hold her, his strength gave out, and they both collapsed onto the ground, breathing heavily.
