Nabil, an 18-year-old high school student, finds himself transported to a game-like world where he has only 365 days to escape. To survive and gather items before his five inventory slots fill up, he must rely on both his skills and the companions he meets along the way.
Nabil begins his journey on a small island, struggling to survive until he discovers his unique ability: summoning pets to aid him. His first companion is a dolphin that helps him cross treacherous seas. Exhausted and near death, Nabil finally reaches land, only to be attacked by another player. However, he survives, realizing later that he was secretly saved by someone.
Nabil continues on his own, and during his travels, he tames a lion he names Leon. But soon after, he's captured by elves and forced to slay a dragon. At the climax of this battle, the dragon—named Whfi—chooses to spare Nabil and becomes his third loyal pet instead.
