Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Radio

As they walked back to the car park, Daisy's energy seemed to increase by the second. The sun was setting, casting long shadows over the pavement as they made their way toward Ferdinand's car. There was an air of excitement around them, and Daisy was practically bouncing on her feet as they reached the car, her curiosity getting the better of her.

"So, what are we taking to the cinema? Some sort of fancy Uber or...?" Daisy trailed off as they approached what looked like a sleek, midnight-black cover draped over a car. Ferdinand stopped in front of it, a mischievous grin on his face.

"What's under there?" Daisy asked, her eyes narrowing suspiciously.

Ferdinand chuckled, clearly enjoying this moment. He tugged at the cover, slowly pulling it off, revealing the pristine form of a BMW M540i. The glossy blue exterior gleamed under the fading sunlight, the sleek lines and sharp curves giving the car a futuristic yet elegant feel.

Daisy's eyes widened as the car was unveiled, her jaw dropping. "Wait… wait, wait, wait. This is yours?!" She gaped at him, disbelief written all over her face.

Ferdinand, enjoying her reaction, casually tossed the car cover into the trunk. "Yup. What do you think?"

Daisy stood there, mouth agape, before finally breaking into a wide grin. "Are you serious right now? You own a BMW M540i?! At your age? This car is a dream! How are you not constantly talking about it?!"

Ferdinand chuckled, shrugging as he walked around to the driver's side. "I guess I don't think about it that much. It's just a car."

"Just a car?" Daisy repeated, her voice rising in disbelief. "This is not *just* a car, Ferdinand. This is a machine. A masterpiece." She ran her fingers lightly over the hood, admiring the craftsmanship. "I love BMWs! They're sleek, fast, and... ugh, don't get me started."

Ferdinand grinned as he opened the door for her. "Well, hop in then. Let's see if it lives up to your expectations."

Daisy didn't need to be told twice. She practically jumped into the passenger seat, sinking into the plush leather, her eyes wide with excitement. Ferdinand slid into the driver's seat beside her, and as soon as he pressed the start button, the engine roared to life, sending a shiver of excitement down Daisy's spine.

"Oh my God," she gasped, her hands clutching the seatbelt as the car purred. "That sound... it's music to my ears!"

Ferdinand laughed, revving the engine lightly, watching as Daisy's eyes lit up. "I take it you like the sound?"

"Are you kidding me?" Daisy practically squealed. "I love it! This is like... a dream come true! I didn't know you were a car guy."

Ferdinand glanced at her, amused by her enthusiasm. "I wouldn't say I'm a *car guy,* but I do appreciate a good ride."

"A good ride?" Daisy echoed, incredulous. "This is more than a good ride, Ferdinand. This is a beast! Look at the interior, the detailing, the power..." She leaned over slightly, inspecting the dashboard. "I could talk about this car all day."

Ferdinand smiled to himself, watching her animated expression as she continued to gush over the car. As he shifted into gear and pulled out of the parking lot, Daisy was still going on about all the things she loved about BMWs—their smooth handling, their speed, the sleek design.

"You know," she said, turning to him as they drove out of the university parking lot, "when I was younger, I had this poster of a BMW on my wall. It wasn't this model, but it was still a BMW, and I used to dream about owning one someday. I guess that dream hasn't really gone away." She laughed, a little self-conscious. "I know it sounds silly, but I really love these cars."

Ferdinand glanced at her, his hand resting casually on the steering wheel. "It doesn't sound silly at all. Everyone has their thing, right? For you, it's BMWs. For me... well, it's pasta, I guess."

Daisy laughed, the sound light and carefree. "Oh, come on, Ferdinand. You can't compare a BMW to pasta."

"Why not?" he teased, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Both can be pretty satisfying in the right context."

She shook her head, clearly amused. "You are impossible. But seriously, how did you manage to get a car like this? It's not exactly your everyday college student vehicle."

Ferdinand shrugged, his eyes focused on the road ahead. "I worked hard, saved up, and made a few smart investments. It's something I've always wanted, so I made it happen."

Daisy looked at him with newfound respect. "That's impressive. You've got a good head on your shoulders, Ferdinand."

He smiled softly but didn't say anything, the hum of the engine filling the comfortable silence between them. The city was beginning to pass by in a blur, the buildings and streets fading into the distance as they made their way to the cinema.

Daisy, unable to contain her excitement, started talking again. She rambled about all sorts of things—the different models of BMWs, the pros and cons of manual versus automatic, her dream car lineup, and everything in between. Ferdinand listened patiently, occasionally chiming in with a comment or two, but mostly he was content to just listen.

As Daisy continued, her voice filling the car with animated chatter, Ferdinand found himself smiling. She had this energy, this undeniable spark that made everything around her feel lighter. She was like a ray of sunshine, brightening up even the simplest of moments.

He glanced over at her as she gestured enthusiastically, talking about her dream road trip in a convertible. Her eyes were shining with excitement, her smile contagious, and for a moment, Ferdinand allowed himself to just... enjoy it. Enjoy her.

"She's an entertainment package," he thought to himself, amused. "There's never a dull moment with her around."

And it was true. Daisy was the kind of person who could make even the most mundane moments feel exciting. Her energy was infectious, and Ferdinand couldn't help but feel like he'd never be bored as long as she was by his side.

"Do you ever stop talking?" Ferdinand teased after a while, glancing over at her with a grin.

Daisy stopped mid-sentence, blinking at him in surprise. "What?"

"I said, do you ever stop talking?" he repeated, clearly teasing. "You've been going non-stop for the last twenty minutes."

Daisy blushed, realizing how much she had been rambling. "Oh. Sorry. I didn't mean to—"

Ferdinand laughed, shaking his head. "Don't apologize. It's... refreshing."

"Refreshing?" she echoed, raising an eyebrow. "Is that your way of saying I talk too much?"

"Not at all," he replied smoothly. "I like it. It's like having my own personal radio."

Daisy laughed, her embarrassment fading. "Well, I'll take that as a compliment, then."

"You should," Ferdinand said with a wink, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

They continued driving, the city slowly giving way to more suburban streets as they made their way toward the cinema. The sun was almost fully set now, the sky a deep shade of purple with hints of orange still lingering on the horizon.

"So," Daisy said after a moment of comfortable silence, "what do you think of the car? I mean, besides the fact that you own it. Do you like driving it?"

Ferdinand glanced at her, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "I do. It's smooth, powerful, and it feels good to drive. But honestly?" He paused, his eyes meeting hers. "I think I like the company more."

Daisy's cheeks flushed again, and she quickly looked away, trying to hide her smile. "You really don't know how to stop, do you?"

"Nope," he replied, his grin widening. "Not when I'm around you."

Daisy shook her head, clearly amused by his flirting, but she couldn't deny that she liked it. There was something about the way Ferdinand made her feel—special, important, like she was the only person in the world that mattered in that moment.

As they neared the cinema, Daisy's excitement returned. She had always loved going to the movies—the smell of popcorn, the giant screen, the shared experience of watching a film with a crowd. And now, she was going with Ferdinand, which made it even better.

"I can't believe you haven't been to the movies in so long," Daisy said as they pulled into the parking lot.

Ferdinand shrugged. "I've been busy."

"Well, tonight, we're fixing that," Daisy declared, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "You're going to remember how fun it is to just... escape for a while."

Ferdinand smiled as he parked the car. "I think you might be right."

As they stepped out of the car, the cool evening air greeted them, and Daisy took a deep breath, feeling the excitement build. She glanced over at Ferdinand, who was locking the car, and couldn't help but feel a flutter of anticipation. This night was turning out to be better than she had imagined.

"Ready?" Ferdinand asked, holding out his hand.

Daisy smiled, slipping her hand into his. "Ready."

And with that, they walked toward the cinema
