Chapter 1 - The End and The Beginning

Kazuki Nakamura hated Mondays. It wasn't because he was lazy or unmotivated, but because every Monday reminded him how much his life had turned into a repetitive, meaningless grind. He was twenty-five, stuck in a mid-level job at a faceless corporation, where the highlight of his day was catching the evening train home and indulging in a fantasy novel before crashing into bed. Life was… fine, but fine wasn't enough.

Today, however, was different. As Kazuki stepped off the platform onto the crowded streets of Shibuya, he felt an odd sense of detachment from everything around him. The rush of people, the blaring car horns, the flashing advertisements—all of it felt distant like it wasn't real. He glanced at his phone: 8:15 AM. He was late. Typical. Sighing, he quickened his pace, weaving through the crowd with practised ease.

Halfway across the crosswalk, it happened.

Kazuki didn't see the truck coming—no one did. One moment he was walking, and the next, a massive vehicle veered off the road, barreling toward the crowd at full speed. There was no time to react. The only thing Kazuki remembered was the shrill sound of the horn and the bright, glaring lights before everything went dark.

---

**"Is this it? Is this how I die?"**

A voice echoed in the void, distant and cold. Was it his own? He wasn't sure. All Kazuki knew was that he was floating, weightless, in a sea of black. There was no pain, no fear, just an overwhelming sense of calm. If this was death, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

But then, as if in response to his thoughts, a blinding light pierced the darkness, pulling him from the abyss.

---

Kazuki's eyes fluttered open, his vision blurry as he struggled to make sense of his surroundings. He wasn't in Shibuya anymore. Above him stretched an endless sky, deep blue with wisps of clouds lazily drifting by. The soft rustling of grass tickled his ears, and the air smelled fresh, like morning dew on an open field.

**"What the hell…?"** Kazuki muttered, sitting up and rubbing his head. The last thing he remembered was the truck, and then… this?

He took a moment to survey his surroundings. He was lying in a vast meadow, surrounded by rolling hills and forests in the distance. The sun hung low on the horizon, casting a warm golden light over everything. It was beautiful, but also terrifying. Nothing about this place felt familiar.

**"Am I… dreaming?"** he wondered aloud, pinching his arm hard. The sharp sting confirmed he wasn't.

Before he could process further, a soft chime echoed in his head.

> **Welcome, Host. Initializing Genesis System…**

Kazuki blinked in confusion. **Genesis System?** Was he hearing things?

The chime continued, accompanied by a series of holographic screens that popped up in front of him, each one filled with strange symbols and text. His brain struggled to catch up as the system began explaining itself.

> **You have been chosen to wield the Genesis System, a unique interface designed to assist in your journey through this world. Please confirm initialization.**

Kazuki stared at the floating text, his heart racing. This was insane. He'd read enough light novels to recognize what was happening. Was this some kind of… isekai?

He hesitated for a moment, his mind still trying to rationalize the impossible. But in the end, there was only one thing to do.

**"Confirm."**

The moment he said the word, the screens vanished, replaced by a single message:

> **Genesis System initialized. Beginning tutorial…**

Another screen appeared, this one much more detailed. It listed various attributes, skills, and abilities—things straight out of a game. Kazuki's head swam as he tried to make sense of it all.

---

Kazuki blinked at the screen, dumbfounded. **Infinite skill potential?** That sounded ridiculously overpowered.

Before he could dwell on it, a rustling sound came from the bushes nearby. His body tensed instinctively, and he turned to face the noise. Emerging from the foliage was a creature he had only seen in fantasy games and novels: a wolf, but much larger and far more menacing. Its fur was black as night, and its glowing red eyes locked onto Kazuki with predatory intent.

**"You've got to be kidding me…"** Kazuki whispered. His heart pounded in his chest as the wolf snarled and crouched, ready to pounce. He had no weapon, no armour—nothing but his bare hands.

The wolf lunged.

Time seemed to slow down. Kazuki's mind raced. He had no idea how to fight, and he sure as hell wasn't strong enough to take down a creature like this. But then, something clicked.

> **Skill Learned: Basic Combat Arts (Unarmed).**

Kazuki didn't have time to process how he'd suddenly learned a combat skill, but his body reacted on instinct. He sidestepped the wolf's attack with surprising agility and threw a punch toward its side. To his shock, his fist connected with the wolf's ribcage, sending the beast sprawling to the ground with a pained yelp.

**"What…?"** Kazuki stared at his hand in disbelief. He didn't know how, but he'd hurt the wolf. The Genesis System wasn't lying—he could learn any skill, just like that.

The wolf growled and got back on its feet, shaking off the blow. Kazuki's body tensed, ready for round two. This time, the wolf circled him cautiously, its eyes filled with a newfound wariness.

**I can do this,** Kazuki thought, his confidence growing. If he could learn skills instantly, then all he needed was the right one to finish this.

> **Skill Learned: Flame Strike (Level 1).**

Without hesitation, Kazuki thrust his hand forward, and to his amazement, a small ball of fire erupted from his palm, hurtling toward the wolf. The fireball struck the creature square in the chest, engulfing it in flames. The wolf howled in agony before collapsing, motionless.

Panting, Kazuki stared at the burning corpse in shock. He had done that. He had cast magic, something that should have been impossible.

After a few moments of silence, the system chimed again.

> **Enemy defeated. Gained 50 EXP.**

Kazuki exhaled, his heart finally starting to slow. The danger was over, at least for now. He took a deep breath and surveyed the meadow again, this time with a different perspective.

This world was real. The Genesis System was real. He was alive, and in a place that seemed ripped straight out of a fantasy novel. But more importantly, he wasn't just some ordinary guy anymore.

He was strong. And if what the system said was true, he could become even stronger.

Kazuki's mind raced with possibilities. He didn't know why he had been brought to this world or what awaited him here, but one thing was clear: he had power, and for the first time in his life, he had a purpose. No more mundane office work, no more boring routines. This world was his now, and he was going to make the most of it.

**"Alright,"** Kazuki said, grinning as he looked out over the horizon. **"Let's see where this takes me."**

---

As the sun began to set over the meadow, casting long shadows across the land, Kazuki's journey in this strange new world had only just begun. He had no idea what dangers lay ahead or what challenges he would face, but he knew one thing for certain: he wasn't going to face them alone.

The Genesis System was with him, and with it, he had the potential to become something far greater than he had ever imagined.

A hero. A ruler. Perhaps even a god.

And so, with a newfound resolve, Kazuki took his first step toward a destiny that would reshape this world forever.
