Under the influence of the Sacred Universe Technique, Lan Si's third Soul ring suddenly lit up. A bright purple glow covered his entire body, overshadowing the light of his other two Soul rings. He threw a cyan-purple light orb from his hand, aiming it in Qian Renxue's direction.
To Lan Si's surprise, Qian Renxue, as if she had eyes on her back, easily deflected his seemingly unstoppable third Soul ability, Soul-Devouring Spider Web Bind, with a swift backhanded slash.
Lan Si was slightly taken aback, and both his second and third Soul rings lit up simultaneously. Eight blue lotuses appeared in the air, scattering in all directions around Qian Renxue before transforming into a giant spider web that enveloped her. In the blink of an eye, Qian Renxue was wrapped up like a cocoon.
"Hey, that's enough, isn't it? If you keep going, I'm going to get angry," said Lan Si, eyeing the cocoon warily.
Qian Renxue's angelic voice echoed from inside the cocoon, captivating as ever, "Is this your third Soul ability from the 2,500-year-old Soul-Devouring Spider? It seems to have the effect of absorbing the opponent's soul power. Quite an impressive ability. I doubt many Soul Elders could break free from it."
The next moment, the cocoon started to crack, with rays of golden light piercing through the gaps. In no time, the cocoon shattered into countless pieces, revealing Qian Renxue's flawless and holy figure bathed in golden light. Lan Si was momentarily entranced by her beauty.
Noticing his distracted expression, Qian Renxue's lips curled into a smirk. With a flick of her long sword, she dashed towards Lan Si, unleashing a flurry of piercing sword strikes that filled the air with sword shadows.
Thanks to the two techniques that granted him enhanced dynamic vision, Lan Si's reaction time had improved tremendously, but even so, he struggled to dodge the barrage of attacks. For the first time, he felt an overwhelming pressure during combat.
Qian Renxue didn't display extraordinary speed, yet she seemed to predict every move he made, as if Lan Si was voluntarily positioning himself in front of her sword. It was a deeply frustrating experience.
Realizing the severity of the situation, Lan Si didn't hesitate any longer. He released the Eight Spider Lances from his back, instantly boosting all his stats by 50%. The semi-transparent purple spider legs moved at lightning speed, creating afterimages in the air. He instantly teleported behind Qian Renxue, with four spider legs supporting his body and the other four striking toward her back with lethal force.
To his surprise, Qian Renxue didn't even try to dodge or block. Lan Si instinctively wanted to pull back.
What happened next was bizarre. A golden aura suddenly appeared around Qian Renxue, and when the spider legs clashed with it, they merely caused faint ripples on the golden shield without penetrating it. Worse yet, Lan Si could feel his soul power being drained as if it was being forcibly sucked out of him.
"This is..." Lan Si's pupils shrank in shock. He realized that Qian Renxue had activated her Angel Domain. He finally understood how she had been so effortlessly dodging his attacks.
Feeling his soul power almost completely drained, Lan Si didn't hesitate. He activated the Five Thunder Heart Technique, gathering all his remaining soul power into his left hand.
His left hand glowed blue, and a conical hammer, over half a meter in length, appeared out of thin air. Lan Si gripped the hammer with both hands and, using his last ounce of strength, slammed it down onto the golden aura.
Boom!
The small hammer flew from his grip, and the massive rebound force from the golden aura sent Lan Si flying backward into the wall. Thankfully, his Eight Spider Lances cushioned the impact, otherwise, several of his ribs would have been broken. But even with that, Lan Si had no strength left to resist. His soul power was completely depleted, and his stamina was nearly gone. The Eight Spider Lances retracted into his body due to the lack of soul power.
Qian Renxue turned around calmly, her gaze falling on Lan Si, who sat against the wall, panting heavily. The prideful expression on her face turned into a satisfied smile.
Just as she was about to withdraw her Angel Domain and approach Lan Si, a cracking sound echoed. The golden shield surrounding her shattered like glass.
"How is this possible?" Qian Renxue's face filled with disbelief. Her Angel Domain had been broken.
Though she wasn't injured, and Lan Si hadn't even come close to touching her, her domain had still been shattered by a mere Soul Elder.
While the Angel Domain wouldn't reach its full potential until the seventh Soul ring allowed for the Martial Soul True Body, it was still unthinkable for someone as weak as a Soul Elder to break it. Coupled with her Soul Emperor-level angelic soul power, it should have been impenetrable, even for some Soul Sages.
Yet it had been broken.
In that instant, Qian Renxue felt as though her pride had been shattered. When she looked at Lan Si again, her gaze was filled with shock.
"How did you do that?" Qian Renxue asked as she approached Lan Si, her tone bewildered.
"What do you mean 'how did I do that?'" Lan Si rubbed his sore shoulder, grumbling, "I mean, we fought together in the Star Dou Forest. Even if I offended you last time, there's no need to be this ruthless!"
Qian Renxue didn't respond to his joking tone. Her piercing golden eyes locked onto his, and she demanded sternly, "Answer me! How did you break my domain?"
Lan Si's face grew serious as well. He responded coldly, "What if I don't tell you? Are you planning to kill me now?"
"I…" Qian Renxue hesitated, her heart trembling. Only now did she realize how much she had hurt Lan Si in her impulsiveness.
She instinctively reached out to check his injuries, but Lan Si swatted her hand away. Struggling to his feet, he placed his hands firmly on her shoulders and said with righteous indignation, "Xue'er, domestic abuse is wrong."
After speaking, Lan Si collapsed into Qian Renxue's arms, having exhausted all his soul power. Just before losing consciousness, he faintly sensed a soft, fragrant sensation on his cheek, one distinctly different from his usual pet cat.
