"Chosen one…" Elara stood there dumbfounded.
"Only you can do this." Ravenor said. "Go on,"
Elara hesitated, staring at the dark, foreboding water. "But I… I can't even swim," she admitted, her voice trembling.
"You won't need to. The lake will guide you to the moonstone and back so just let loose." He replied but his focus stayed on the still waters.
"And if I drown?" she looked up at him.
Ravenor's expression softened just enough to be noticeable. He stepped closer to her, his voice low. "I'll be here. If anything happens, I'll save you."
"Promise?" She held out her pinkie.
He looked down at her hand and a few creases braced his forehead. With his thumb and forefinger, he shook her pinkie slightly. "Promise."
Elara's heart raced, though she wasn't sure if it was from fear or something else. She nodded slowly, her trust in his promise outweighing her doubts.
