Suddenly, the rush of voices and feet pulled Level 5.5 from its stillness. Kai blinked in surprise as he was pulled from the cusp of sleep by the unmistakable sound of chaos. His body ached in his muscles due to training, but something inside him signaled that something was wrong. Throwing himself up, the noise at the entrance hitched his curiosity.
"What now?" Kai grumbled, already half-dressed as he moved toward the noise. He saw Ivankov and a few of the Okamas off in the distance, clustered around something-or someone.
As Kai neared, he could hear Ivankov's voice. "Quick! Bring him here! He's in bad shape!
Kai pushed his way through the crowd, and his gaze fell on the figure that lay unconscious upon the floor. His body was drenched in sweat, grime half-frozen upon skin. The neck veins were swollen, and his face pale, strained. This was not any ordinary prisoner; this man had passed through hell.
Kai's eyes widened, incredulous, as he recognized the pirate beaten to a pulp before him. 'Luffy.!!!! What's he doing here? SHIT I thought we still had some time! But hey this is good for me, the faster I leave the place the better!'
The infamous Straw Hat lay unmoving, his chest barely rising with labored breathing. His body was limp, his signature straw hat missing, and his skin looked Purple 'Fucking Magellan….He really fucked him up'
"He survived the ordeal but he's badly poisoned," Ivankov said, bending down to look at him more closely. "Magellan's work, no doubt…."
Kai's stomach was churning. He hadn't witnessed firsthand the result of Magellan's poison. But even in the anime, few people survived an encounter with the deadly toxins of the warden, and Luffy looked like he was hanging in by a thread
"He needs urgent treatment," one of the Okamas urged, "or he won't last much longer Iva-san!'
Ivankov nodded, her face unsmiling. "Get him into the medical ward! Heehaa! We can't let this brave soul die before he's had his chance to shine!" She said with a grand flourish of her hand, though her tone was grim.
'Medical Ward? These motherfuckes have everything here!' Kai's mind was racing 'But at least that's good for luffy….cause Magellan really did a number on him…God seeing this, reminds me that I was basically at this motherfucker's mercy back in his office' his body shivered at the idea as he continued to observe Luffy for a bit longer
The Okamas took Luffy away to the medical area as Kai followed closely. He could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on him. 'I can't let him die here. he's too important. Of course Iva should save him either way….But still, I should ask her'
They placed Luffy on a makeshift bed, and Ivankov takes a deep breath as they eyed the poisoned, weakened body of Luffy. She looks over at Kai and notices an unusually serious look on his face. "You seem awfully invested in this one, Kai. Why's he so important to you?"
Kai stepped forward, his eyes locking onto Ivankov's. "You have to do everything you can to save him Iva" Kai's voice was clear and almost commanding, which Intrigued Ivankov
She arched her eyebrow, raised by the intrigue. "Everything, you say? Heehaa! I wasn't planning on letting him die, but what makes this one special to you?" She cocked her head, trying to examine Kai's intense stare as if looking for something. "You seem to know something that we don't"
Kai hesitated for a moment, knowing full well he wasn't to tell them about Luffy's lineage, at least not yet. "I cannot say," he said, keeping his voice extremely calm but serious. "But when you rescue him, you will see why….Trust me on this one"
Ivankov's interest rose even further, but she made no attempt to ask further Instead, she stroked her chin thoughtfully. "I do have a way, but." she trailed off, a faint darkening of her face. "It'll come with a heavy cost. Heehaa! To save him, I'd have to use my Hormone Therapy, but doing so would take years off his life. Probably a lot of years…"
Kai's heart sank as the image flared across his brain. He remembered this scene, word for word, from the anime. He knew Luffy was going to make it out, but at a terrible personal cost. It wasn't a good thing that was about to happen, but the alternative was far, far worse-he couldn't let Luffy die here "It's fine….Just Do it, I doubt he'd regret this"
Ivankov studied Kai for a moment longer, her sharp eyes searching his every micro-expression for any hint of deception. When she found none, she sighed. "Fine. But if this ever gets out- how many years he's lost-he'll have you to thank for it, Heehaa!"
Kai Shrugged as he said "he is on an Important mission, he'd actually appreciate it if you healed him faster, so go one"
And with that, Ivankov scrambled to get her Emporio Healing Hormone ready, the massive blue needles shining in the dull light. Kai retreated and watched with a hint of disgust as she pierced Luffy's body with the life-altering hormones. The tension hung heavy in the air, and there was little Kai could do but wait and pray for the best-that Luffy would pull through
….
Few hours Later
….
Inside the medical area, Kai watched as Luffy was laid down, looking far worse for wear. His skin had that sickly purple tint to it, and his body seemed limp….almost lifeless….after that battle with Magellan and being at death's door. The Okama nurses quickly closed the door, isolating him from the rest as Iva sighed, her huge hands resting on her hips.
"You know," Iva said, shaking her head, "he fought for 20 hours straight before collapsing from the poison. Even with my powers, he will most likely be out a week or so."
'A week? as If, if I know this guy, and I absolutely do, he's gonna be up in a few minutes'
Kai remained there, pretending like he was processing it when in fact he did know the outcome. Then in the corner of his eyes, he saw one of the Newkamas, who has been Fighting hard, as if he was more worried about Luffy than the rest, as Kai took a better look at him, he thought, "Ain't NO FUCKING WAY! that's MR.2! I didn't even notice since everyone here wears the same flamboyant clothes!'
But before Kai could get the chance to talk to him, something happend
Behind the door, a sloshing sound could be heard. Blood began to seep through the cracks, and several gasps escaped the nearby Okamas, who grasped at each other in horror.
"Is. is he dying?!" one shouted, pale faces running about in a panic.
Kai leaned against the wall, an eyebrow rising-the scene coming out almost comical in his mind. 'Yeah as if….Damn shonen protagonists and their op bodies! Why wasn't I given this power!"
Right on cue, a loud, strong voice boomed from that very room.
"FOOOOOD!"
The Okamas practically jumped out of their skin, staring at each other in shock. Kai himself could barely bite back a grin, 'JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! THAT MOTHERFUCKER! This is Conqueror's Haki! I thought he used it first in Marineford! But this idiot really used this now to call for food without even realizing it!'
The Okamas had been thrown into a frenetic scramble, gathering all the food they could carry and running to the door. Plates of food were shoved inside the small opening in a rush, with barely enough clearance as they vanished into the abyss beyond. The nurses were shaking, not at all sure if the food was having any kind of effect whatsoever.
"He's eating. but he's still purple!" one them muttered, shaking.
Kai gave no voice to his thoughts, his laughter echoing quietly in his head 'Ah yes! because nothing heals mortal wounds like feeding the shonen protagonist. Classic. Seriously, though what's up with this idiot! He's practically eaten fifty percent of the currunt Okama supplies! I thought the anime was exaggerating!'
A Mountain of food vanished, piece by piece, into the bottomless pit that was the almost dead Luffy's stomach. Despite his purple skine tone, Kai couldn't help but note just how silly it all was
Soon, the noise in the room died down bit by bit. Kai waited, half-expecting the next dramatic turn of events as the door swung open, and there Luffy stood, his body ridiculously bloated to a comical size, as though he'd devoured an entire banquet. His purple skin was gradually returning to its normal color, but the size that he was blew that fact right out the window.
Kai blinked, trying not to let a laugh burst loose. 'He looks like a damn balloon right now. Shit seeing it Irl is even crazier!
And just like that, in a sudden burst, Luffy shrunk back down to his normal form, his skin fully restored with his eyes bright with energy. He raised his fist triumphantly into the air, a wide grin spreading across his face.
"I AM BACK!
Kai snickered to himself. 'There it is….Shonen Logic at its finest! Welcome back, Luffy'
