Upon hearing Robin's words, Usopp and the others immediately screamed, their bodies trembling uncontrollably.
"Robin... Robin, can you explain why those ships disappeared? What caused it?" Usopp asked nervously after swallowing.
"I've heard... it's because there are ghosts here! They kill everyone who dares to come!" Robin said with a sly smile.
"AHH!"
Before Robin even finished, Usopp and Chopper were already running around the ship in a panic, screaming in terror.
At first, they only felt uneasy because of the dark atmosphere. But after Robin's words, the surroundings suddenly seemed even more eerie, making their bodies feel cold.
Though Nami was equally scared, she mustered the courage to say to Robin, "Robin... ghosts... things like ghosts aren't real, right?"
"Idiot, there's no such thing as ghosts!"Zoro said from the side.
"Huh... I guess you're right," Nami exhaled with relief.
Despite Zoro mocking her, she felt some comfort from his words. She hoped there really were no ghosts—if there were, her heart might not be able to handle it!
But then, Kai's casual remark sent her spiraling back into fear.
"Ghosts do exist. And not just ghosts, but skeletons and zombies too—this sea is full of them."
≡(▔_▔)≡!
"It's over!" Nami dropped to the ground, with Usopp and Chopper quickly joining her in despair.
The three of them now looked utterly hopeless, while Luffy, on the other hand, was in his element.
"Ghosts! Skeletons! Zombies!!" Luffy shouted, his excitement growing with each word. His eyes gleamed so brightly it was as if they lit up the dark sea around them.
Zoro grinned, clearly intrigued. "Sounds interesting! I wonder if they'll be a challenge."
"Hmm..." Sanji exhaled a puff of smoke and mused, "I wonder, if you grind down skeleton bones, would the bone powder add a unique flavor to dishes?"
"That is a curious thought," Robin chimed in, stroking her chin thoughtfully.
"Let's not," Kai waved his hands in mild disgust. "I doubt anyone would want to eat that."
He had normal tastes after all, and bone meal... well, that was not something he'd ever consider appetizing.
Meanwhile, Nami, Usopp, and Chopper, still kneeling on the ground, were on the verge of losing their minds as they listened to the absurd conversation. Who were these people, and why didn't they have the basic decency to respect supernatural beings?
As if on cue, a strange laugh echoed through the air.
"Yo ho ho ho ho~ Yo ho ho ho ho~"
"Yo ho ho ho ho~ Yo ho ho ho ho~"
The sound grew closer and closer. Soon, through the mist, the crew spotted a pirate ship that looked exactly like the ghost ships of their nightmares, slowly drifting toward them.
"AHHHHH!"
A shrill scream erupted from the Going Merry, and the three terrified crewmates leaped to their feet.
In their panic, each sought refuge with someone they believed could protect them.
Nami clung to Kai, practically hanging off him.
Usopp huddled behind Sanji, clutching his waist desperately.
As for Chopper, he scrambled onto Zoro's lap, as usual.
Kai chuckled softly as he looked down at the trembling Nami. He gently patted her back and reassured her, "It's alright. I'm here—nothing to fear!"
Perhaps Kai's words did the trick. Nami's shaking lessened, though she still held onto him, too afraid to look around.
"Hey, Usopp, my waist is reserved for ladies! Get off me!" Sanji shouted, trying to pry Usopp away. But Usopp clung tightly, like a stubborn barnacle, refusing to let go no matter what Sanji did.
"Sanji, you can't leave me behind! What if a ghost comes?!" Usopp sobbed.
"You've still got Luffy! Go hug him!" Sanji protested, still trying to dislodge Usopp.
But Usopp's terrified whimper ceased, and his eyes narrowed as he gazed up at Sanji. "What do you think Luffy will do if a ghost actually shows up?"
(⊙o⊙)...
Sanji hesitated. "Knowing Luffy... he'd probably just charge right at it!"
"Exactly. So if I go to Luffy, I'm basically throwing myself into the ghost's arms!"
"No way! Sanji, I'm sticking with you!" Usopp wailed.
Sanji: (ノ`Д)ノ!
At the same time, Zoro found himself with a snotty reindeer clinging to his leg.
"Hey, Chopper, stop wiping your nose on my pants..."
Suddenly, Luffy's eyes lit up as he noticed the ghost ship.
"Ooooh! A ghost ship!" he shouted with excitement, stars practically in his eyes. "Let's go explore it!" Without waiting for anyone's response, he grabbed hold of the ship and flung it over to the Going Merry.
"Luffy!" Kai shouted, exasperated. "Was that really necessary?"
Kai turned to the crew. "Luffy's already gone over. I'm thinking of heading over too—anyone coming?"
"Wait, Kai, are you going too?" Nami, still wrapped around him, asked with wide, tear-filled eyes.
"Uh... you..."
"Why don't you stay here with me!" Nami pleaded.
In the end, Kai couldn't resist Nami's pitiful expression and decided to stay on board.
So, Zoro, Sanji, and Robin went over to the ghost ship, while the others stayed behind.
Kai watched the ghost ship with a calm gaze, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
Meanwhile, on the ghost ship...
"Wait, Kai, I thought you were staying on the Merry? Why are you here?" Robin asked, surprised.
"Did you forget? I can clone myself," Kai said coolly.
Everyone: (⊙o⊙)...
Of course, Kai had a clone. Naturally, he could do whatever he wanted!
Robin surveyed the eerie surroundings. "This place is truly spooky."
"Yeah, the whole ship reeks of something strange," Sanji added.
"Yo ho ho ho ho~ Yo ho ho ho ho~"
The eerie singing echoed again, accompanied by slow, deliberate footsteps.
Everyone turned to look.
From the darkness, a figure slowly emerged, revealing its true form.
A skeleton, dressed in pirate attire, approached them.
Luffy's eyes bulged as he let out a strange scream.
"A skeleton... that can move?!!"
