"When I first rescued him, I found that his life was still in danger. I didn't expect that Kai's injuries would begin to heal slowly and automatically after I took him in."
"Even if I did nothing, Kai wouldn't die. His body will recover on its own, even if it takes a bit longer!"
Hearing this, Kai smiled softly.
"You really can't blame Chopper for this. My body is indeed different from the average person!"
As he spoke, Kai tried to sit up from the bed, which shocked Nami. She yelled at him, "What are you doing? Don't you realize how injured you are?"
(•́へ•́╬)!
Startled by Nami's outburst, Kai looked at her and found her anger a bit frightening. But he also understood that Nami was worried about him, and it made him feel touched.
Kai looked at Nami and said, "It's okay. I know my body well enough."
Once he was sitting up, Kai pulled out the cooked food he had prepared earlier from his system space and began eating with gusto.
Half a day later, everyone was astonished by the sheer amount of bones scattered around the room.
Luffy's eyes widened as he asked, "Kai, when did you become such a big eater?"
It wasn't surprising that Luffy was amazed; Kai had consumed several times more food than he usually did, even after days of hunger.
"Well, it was a bit pricey," Kai replied, finishing a mouthful of meat.
After patting his full belly, Kai said mysteriously, "Let me show you something amazing!"
"What's this amazing thing?"
Everyone asked curiously as Kai began removing the bandages from his body.
w(゚Д゚)w!
"Kai!!!"
(•́へ•́╬)!
"Hey, wait!" Kai quickly stopped Nami from getting angry and explained.
The injuries on his body were healing at a visible rate, and his broken bones were mending themselves.
A minute later, Kai's body was completely healed, with skin smoother and fairer than a newborn's.
The only cost of this rapid recovery was that Kai had devoured all the food he had just eaten, and now he was hungry again.
Seeing this, Luffy and the others were stunned. Their expressions were a mix of shock and awe at Kai's incredible recovery ability.
After a long pause, Zoro finally stammered, "Kai... are you even human?"
Hearing this, Kai shot him a deadpan look and retorted, "Do you think I'm a human being?"
Zoro quickly shook his head, and the others around him nodded in agreement.
Chopper, equally shocked, hurried over to Kai and touched him, exclaiming, "It's really all healed!!"
"This isn't normal!"
Kai, while getting dressed, said, "What's the big deal? Many animal-type Devil Fruit users have impressive recovery abilities. Mine might just be a bit stronger!"
Suddenly, Robin asked, "Kai, who did you fight to get injuries like that?"
Although Robin hadn't known Kai for long, she was aware of his strength. The last time she heard about a fight between Kai and Aokiji, it hadn't been as severe as this.
Robin, who had a deep understanding of Aokiji's power, was curious about who could have beaten Kai so badly.
"Yes, Kai, are the ones who did this to you the same ones you said you wanted to take down?" Sanji also inquired.
"No," Kai shook his head. "I took out two of the targets I wanted to eliminate. I'm not sure about the third."
After being intercepted by the Golden Lion, Kai had focused all his attention on him, leaving him unaware of what happened with Blackbeard afterward. However, he wasn't overly concerned. If he could defeat Blackbeard once, he could do it again. Blackbeard's strength would never outpace his own!
Kai continued, "As for who did this to me, it's just an old man with too much time on his hands!"
Speaking of the Golden Lion, Kai felt a twinge of irritation. He had been unnecessarily involved, but at least he had learned to master Conqueror's Haki before it reached a high level.
It seemed that the old saying was true—one could only truly improve Haki through extreme combat experiences. Even though his teacher was mediocre, his theory was sound!
"Old man? What old man?" Luffy and the others asked, confused.
"Golden Lion Shiki. Does that name ring any bells?" Kai mentioned casually.
The crew's immediate reaction was unfamiliarity, and they all shook their heads.
"I don't know him."
Only Robin seemed to recognize the name. She pondered for a moment, then a look of shock crossed her face as she asked, "Are you talking about THE Golden Lion?"
"Yes! That's him!"
Everyone: ???
What's the deal here? Could someone please explain?
Luffy, unable to contain his impatience, asked directly, "Robin, which Golden Lion are you talking about?"
Robin thought for a moment before replying, "Golden Lion Shiki, the legendary great pirate, the man who once competed with Gol D. Roger!"
Robin's brief description left everyone's jaws on the floor. The notion of someone who had competed with Roger, the King of the Pirates, was monumental. Such figures were clearly at the top of the pirate world!
Everyone felt like they had been hit with more shocks today than in the past month combined. Their emotions were all over the place.
After some time, as they calmed down, Sanji asked Kai, "What about the Golden Lion?"
"He's dead. Didn't you see the blond-haired man lying near me when you found me?" Kai was puzzled.
The Golden Lion's body should have been quite visible, given the barren surroundings.
"Huh?" Everyone looked confused.
Zoro thought for a moment and then said, "When we arrived, there was no one else around, just you."
"What!?" Kai's face went pale. He had been certain the Golden Lion had fallen close to him.
After some thought, Kai asked, "Did you find anything else around when you came back?"
"No! Many pirates were interested in you because of your valuable bounty..." Zoro explained everything that happened, including Bellamy's intervention.
Kai murmured to himself, "Bellamy?"
