Kai looked at Mr. 2 and said, "Come and touch me. Let's see if you can imitate me."
"Of course I can!" Mr. 2 replied confidently. Since gaining his Devil Fruit powers, he hadn't encountered anyone he couldn't mimic.
Mr. 2 lightly touched Kai's arm and was about to activate his ability.
"How... how is this possible?" Sweat broke out on Mr. 2's forehead. No matter what he did, he couldn't replicate Kai's appearance.
"Is that so?" Kai murmured.
At this moment, it wasn't just Mr. 2 who was shocked. Luffy and the others were equally surprised.
"Why is his Devil Fruit power useless against you?" Zoro asked curiously.
"Haki! I used my Haki to guard against his power!" Kai explained calmly.
Kai had just covered himself with Haki, and Mr. 2's ability had failed.
Kai had this idea from watching various Haki defenses in anime during his previous life. For instance, Vergo defended against Law with Haki, and Law defended against the Disease Fruit with Haki. These examples illustrated the strength of Haki.
It seemed Rayleigh was right—only Haki could overcome everything!
"Wow, can you really be so dominant?" Luffy was amazed. "Looks like I need to master Haki soon!"
Kai glanced at Luffy without saying a word.
Luffy was close to mastering Haki. Maybe a few more fights with strong opponents would help him achieve it.
The others were similar. Zoro was progressing with Haki faster, while Usopp and Sanji were advancing in Observation Haki.
Kai wondered who among them would be the first to fully master Haki.
——
"??? What is this Haki?" Mr. 2 was confused as he listened to the conversation around him. After a while, he raised his hands and asked, "Uh, what's Haki?"
"Oh, Haki is..."
Before Luffy could finish, Kai punched him.
"Kai, why did you hit me this time?" Luffy complained, rubbing his head and holding back tears.
Kai didn't look at Luffy but addressed Mr. 2 calmly, "We have no intention of sharing information with the enemy!"
Kai then revealed Mr. 2's true identity directly.
"What... what enemy? I know nothing about this!" Mr. 2 protested, not wanting to be considered an enemy. He didn't want to face such a strong opponent!
Kai ignored him and turned to Vivi, asking, "Vivi, have you seen Mr. 2 from Baroque Works?"
"Huh? No!" Vivi was taken aback, then replied.
"But I heard Mr. 2 is a tall guy in a swan ballet costume, always talking about slaves, with 'Bon' written on his back!"
"Uh-huh?"
Upon hearing Vivi's description, everyone's eyes turned to Mr. 2.
A long silence followed.
"Um..."
After a while, Nami pointed at Mr. 2 and asked, "So, does the person you described look like this?"
"It... seems so!" Vivi said uncertainly.
"Get rid of him!" Everyone except Sanji shouted at Vivi.
Usopp turned to Mr. 2, looking betrayed, "I thought you were a friend, but I didn't expect you to be an enemy!"
"Tell us, what are you doing on our ship?"
Mr. 2: ???
"Um... it seems you were the ones who rescued me!"
"Okay, so you were saved and now you're trying to sneak away? You ungrateful villain!" Chopper shouted.
All he could think was how much fun he'd had earlier and how harshly he was being scolded now!
Mr. 2 looked confused. "You're using me to accuse me? Are you wearing sunglasses or something?"
"It's true I'm Mr. 2 from Baroque Works, but does that make us enemies?" Mr. 2 asked.
"The people from Baroque Works are our enemies, understand?" Sanji said, taking a puff of his cigarette.
"Well, it seems... there's no need to talk any further!" Mr. 2's face darkened.
"In that case Fis—ah!" Mr. 2 was punched on the head by Kai and fainted before he could even strike a pose.
"Don't show me that disgusting fighting style!" Kai waved his hand in disgust.
"Sanji, go get some rope and tie him up. His abilities could be tricky if he's not restrained!"
Though Kai wasn't worried about Mr. 2's mimicry himself, he knew that Luffy and the others wouldn't be able to distinguish between the real and the fake. Even if ropes could help differentiate them in the original story, if Mr. 2 turned into someone like Cobra, it could cause significant issues.
Kai hated trouble and preferred straightforward solutions. If he could help Vivi reclaim Alabasta more easily, he would take that route.
For instance, if solving the problem meant taking out Crocodile directly, he would have gone after him immediately.
However, most of Alabasta's people admired Crocodile. If Crocodile was killed before his true nature was exposed, Alabasta might fall into a worse civil war.
So, that approach wouldn't work. Crocodile had to be revealed to the people of Alabasta first to make reclaiming the country easier.
But...
Before that, it would be interesting to fight Crocodile and gauge his strength!
Kai wanted to see if Crocodile was truly as powerful as Luffy's defeat of him in the story suggested. After all, Crocodile was defeated by Luffy in Alabasta but later fought against strong opponents like Doflamingo and Mihawk without showing weakness.
Even Luffy two years later couldn't defeat Doflamingo without Gear Fourth, let alone Mihawk, who could defeat Jinbei in one strike.
So, Crocodile's strength was... quite fascinating!
Who knows what kind of treasure Impel Down might be? The Time-Skip Room? Sage of Six Paths' inheritance space? The kind of place that greatly enhances one's strength?
Stop speculating!
In any case, Kai needed to see for himself to understand Crocodile's true strength. He hoped he wouldn't be disappointed!
