Kai's eyes grew icy, and in an instant, he vanished from sight.
In the blink of an eye, a shadow darted past everyone, followed by a massive crash from the stone wall next to Twin Capes.
Everyone turned to see Kai standing firmly where the rubble had landed.
Nami couldn't help but ask, "Kai, what was that shadow just now?"
"Oh, that was Luffy!"
Kai ane disappeared again, speeding towards Luffy's direction.
Kai stood calmly in front of the pile of rubble, looking ahead.
After a moment, Luffy emerged from the debris, covered in dust and looking furious. "Kai , what's the meaning of this?"
"What's the meaning? I'm here to beat you up!"
Without missing a beat, Kai appeared in front of Luffy, his Armament Haki blazing around his fist as he delivered a powerful blow.
Luffy, enraged by the sudden attack, retaliated fiercely, but the gap in their strength was too vast. His efforts were futile, and he could only endure the beating.
Soon, the Going Merry docked at the shore, and Zoro and Sanji rushed over, grabbing Kai .
"Kai , stop! If you keep this up, you're going to kill Luffy!"
At this point, Luffy was battered and bruised, his clothes in tatters, while Kai had bloodied his hands.
Zoro looked at Kai with a serious expression. He could see that Kai Vane was truly enraged this time, otherwise, he wouldn't have been so harsh.
But now, he was curious about what Luffy had done to provoke such a reaction from Kai .
"Huh~"
Kai took a deep breath and walked over to Luffy, who was glaring up at him.
"What were you trying to do just now?" Kai Vane asked, his voice cold and unyielding.
"I wanted to go..."
"You wanted to fight Laboon and make a new pact with him so he'd stop attacking the Red Line."
"Huh?" Luffy was puzzled. How did Kai know what he intended to do?
Now that he knew, why was he stopping him—and even attacking him?
"I don't mind you wanting to fight Laboon, but..."
"If I hadn't intervened, you would've tried to take down the Merry's main mast, right?"
The chill in Kai's tone became even more pronounced. He glared at Luffy and shouted angrily:
"Monkey D. Luffy, what do you think you're doing to our ship, the Merry!!!"
Kai's voice made everyone freeze. No one dared to make a sound.
Kai's fury was a first for them. They'd never seen him so intimidating.
"Do you think the Merry isn't our partner? If you want to fight, why tear up the Merry's mast?"
Kai was genuinely fed up with Luffy's actions, and it was clear he couldn't tolerate it any longer.
"!!!"
Luffy stood there, stunned. The anger inside him evaporated as he absorbed Kai's words.
Slowly, Luffy got up and looked at Kai with a serious expression. "Thank you, Kai . You're right. The Merry is our partner, and I should cherish it, not destroy it!"
Kai nodded, satisfied that Luffy was able to correct his mistake.
"Then what are you waiting for? Go make things right with Laboon!"
"Right away!"
With that, Luffy sprinted off towards Laboon.
Even though Kai looked battered from their earlier fight, the injuries weren't severe and wouldn't affect Luffy's strength significantly.
Kai then turned to address everyone.
"Alright, let's watch from the sidelines. Sanji, whip up something delicious. Nami's hungry!"
"Miss Nami, is that true? Are you hungry?" Sanji asked eagerly, rushing to Nami's side.
"Uh... yeah!" Nami nodded, still a bit confused.
...
The scene split between Luffy's confrontation with Laboon and the others enjoying their food, chatting, and occasionally commenting on Luffy's battle.
After a while...
The clash between Luffy and Laboon finally ceased. According to Luffy, their battle wasn't over; they had made a pact to continue the fight after he had sailed around the Grand Line.
...
"Hey! You guys are so unfair, sneaking food while I was fighting!" Luffy, fresh from his battle, came over and saw everyone eating and couldn't help but complain.
"Huh? What are you talking about? We're just sitting here eating openly," Kai said with a puzzled look.
"Hmm..." Luffy scratched his head, then said, "I guess that makes sense!"
He then joined in, grabbing food and stuffing it into his mouth.
After taking a beating from Kai and Laboon, he was starving!
Crocus looked at Luffy and asked, "Straw Hat, can you keep your promise to Laboon? Will it end like the last pirate crew?"
"No way!" Luffy said firmly, then grinned. "Unless I die!"
"Is that so..." Crocus pondered this.
Meanwhile, Kai sipped his coffee calmly and said, "Old man, it's not that the Rumbar Pirates didn't keep their promise, it's just that... they're all dead!"
"How do you know the name of that pirate crew?" Kurokas asked, surprised.
"I told you, I know a few things—more than 100 million, so knowing they were called the Rumbar Pirates isn't a stretch."
"Well... when you put it that way, you're quite the mystery!"
Crocus stared at Kai with wide eyes, walking around him a few times. He was amazed by how much this kid knew.
Even though Kai looked like a big kid, he had an uncanny depth of knowledge.
Kai took another sip of his coffee.
"Calm down, old man. You're making me dizzy!"
"Well..." Crocus sat back down, dropping his questions about Kai's knowledge, and continued, "Why did you say they're all dead?"
"Because..."
