Chapter 31 - Liam

The Mansion Summon Ring suddenly vibrated, waking Amon from his sleep.

"There's an intruder."

This mansion may be luxurious, but it didn't have any defense system, making it easy to attack or infiltrate.

"Who's disturbing my sleep this time?"

Amon forced his heavy body to get up from the bed.

Rubbing his still foggy eyes, he walked to the front door.

He encountered three girls once he arrived there: Claire with blue hair, Ruby with red hair, and Cecile with blonde hair. They had all entered by breaking through the glass window.

Amon knew all of them. They were nothing but burdens to Liam and characters Amon despised.

'Why is it... that whenever a girl is introduced, I always feel happy? My desires as a man feel fulfilled. But it never lasts long. Because most of them are just dead weight,' Amon thought.

"Look, his eyes are red," Claire said. "He's definitely a vampire."

"Our guess was right; let's slay him," Cecile added.

The two girls spouted nonsense, but Ruby trembled in anxiety and fear.

Red eyes and silver hair—everyone in the City of Lucerion knew those traits. And Ruby was from that city.

"Stop, let's get out of here," she said, tugging her two friends.

"Coward, it's just a weak vampire. No need to be scared."

"He's not a vampire; he's a thousand times scarier than one," she said, nearly in tears.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you. I'm strong, I'm at level four. Look at that vampire's aura; he's only at level one. He's weak."

"The power scale in the main realm and other realms is different. Just because your level is higher doesn't mean you're stronger. Don't be overconfident; let's get out of here."

"Come on, you're underestimating me too much." Claire spoke lightly, as if Ruby's panic was a joke.

Suddenly, Amon appeared right in front of Claire. Before she could even be surprised, her face was slapped, sending her flying into the air. "Arg!"

"Claire!" Cecile's eyes widened in shock at the sudden attack on her friend.

She couldn't believe the being she thought was a weak vampire could move so fast that her eyes couldn't keep up.

Fear began to creep into her heart.

But before she could lift her sword, she had already been slapped and ended up just like Claire. "Ugh!"

Only Ruby remained, trembling in fear. Her legs moved backward slowly. She desperately wanted to run, but it was so hard to do. In the end, her back hit the wall.

"Liam, save me…" she said in a trembling voice.

But the man she loved hadn't arrived yet.

Liam was now inside the mansion, but since he had fallen behind, he became lost in this large building.

Instead, Amon was the one who reached her.

"...Forgive me, young master…" she said, looking at Amon with tearful eyes, hoping for mercy.

Without saying anything, Amon slapped her as well. "Ugh!"

Amon took a deep breath, savoring the sensation he had just experienced. "It feels so satisfying when dreams come true."

For as long as he could remember, he had always wanted to slap these useless girls.

'Should I kill them? While Liam isn't here?'

Amon approached Claire with his flame sword. Feeling that she was about to die, she couldn't help but give in to her fear and wet herself.

"No... please... don't kill me…"

Her pleas and tears meant nothing to Amon. He swung the Karyuken at Claire.

However, just as the flaming sword was about to behead her, she suddenly disappeared from Amon's sight.

A bit surprised, Amon turned his head. There, he saw Liam, who had just saved Claire.

'Did he move that fast? No, Liam doesn't have that kind of power. He must have stopped time to save her.'

Amon experienced mixed feelings as he now had to face Liam directly.

There are many ways readers view protagonists.

For example, they could see the protagonist as themselves, or as a lover, or merely as a friend or companion; there are countless perspectives.

For Amon, he viewed Liam as his son.

It was a strange way of thinking, but that's how it was.

That's why he wanted Liam to undergo character development. He wanted Liam to stop being naive and become more realistic.

But ironically, the author never granted that wish.

That was one of the reasons why Amon found the ending of Miracle Cube boring.

'Liam's goal in Lucerion City was to enter the academy. But since registration wasn't open yet, he decided to teleport to Arcilla for a casual trip. Even so, I didn't expect to meet him this soon.'

Liam tilted his head as he looked at Amon. For some reason, he felt like he had seen Amon before.

"Liam, you came at just the right time. Thank you," Claire said. "Now hurry and kill that vampire!"
