Ray's training with the legendary heroes had become part of his daily life. His growth was impressive, surprising even the seasoned warriors. He had developed his own unique skill, a technique combining sword and shield, allowing him to deflect magic attacks with precise timing and counter with powerful strikes. Even without magic, Ray's combat abilities were quickly becoming formidable.
One morning, as Ray was sparring with Alfred, the most experienced of the heroes, Alfred called for a break, wiping the sweat from his brow.
"You're progressing fast, Ray," Alfred remarked, his voice tinged with approval. "Faster than we expected. You've even created your own technique—a testament to your ingenuity. Not many people could create a skill like your Shield Counter. You should be proud."
Ray smiled, but before he could respond, Rheana, the healer of the group, rushed over. "Alfred, the king of Rideon sent a message—there's trouble in the southern region," she said, her tone serious.
Alfred's expression darkened. "Gather the others."
In no time, the heroes were assembled. Alfred stood at the front, holding the letter. "The king has requested our aid to protect the Village of Draekar from an enemy known as the Hell King. His fire magic is as dangerous as it sounds. This is going to be a tough mission."
Ray stepped forward, eager to join. "I want to help."
Alfred looked at Ray, then exchanged a glance with the other heroes. Rheana placed a gentle hand on Ray's shoulder. "I'm sorry, Ray. We can't bring you on this mission. It's too dangerous for you."
Ray's heart sank. "But I've been training hard, and I've improved! I can handle myself."
Alfred sighed. "It's not about your ability, Ray. The Hell King's magic is on a different level. You've grown a lot, but you're not ready to face an enemy like this." He handed Ray a map. "You need to continue your journey, but you won't be able to do it alone. You need allies—people who will stand by your side."
Ray frowned, gripping the map tightly. "Allies?"
Rheana smiled softly. "If you want to become strong like us, you'll need to form bonds. Find those who will fight beside you."
Alfred gave a nod of encouragement. "Go, Ray. This map will guide you. Build your strength—not just with your sword, but with people you trust."
Ray looked at the map, determination burning in his eyes. "I won't let you down."

The next morning, Ray set off on his journey. He walked through forests, across rivers, and over hills, his mind focused on the advice the heroes had given him. After several days of travel, as dusk began to settle, Ray stumbled upon a man lying near a roadside, his body covered in wounds.
Ray rushed over, recognizing the severity of the injuries. The man's breaths were shallow, and his eyes barely open. Without hesitation, Ray pulled out a healing potion Rheana had given him and gently poured it into the man's mouth. Slowly, the man's breathing steadied, and his eyes fluttered open.
"Are you alright?" Ray asked, helping the man sit up.
The man winced but nodded. "I'll live, thanks to you."
Ray offered him some water. "My name's Ray. Who are you?"
The man took a deep breath. "I'm Rhyuji. Rheana is my sister."
Ray's eyes widened in surprise. "Rheana? You're her brother?"
Rhyuji nodded, but his expression darkened. "I was following the heroes… following my sister. The king entrusted me with a mission to aid them with my Holy Sword ability. But on my way, I was ambushed by a band of thieves… ruthless ones."
Ray frowned. "Who were they?"
"They call themselves the Ash Fangs. They attacked me because of this." Rhyuji reached for his sword, a beautifully crafted blade that seemed to glow faintly with holy magic. "The sword was given to me by the king himself. It can channel my holy magic, allowing me to imbue it with purifying power."
Ray studied the sword, impressed. "They must have wanted to steal it. What happened after they attacked?"
Rhyuji grimaced. "They overpowered me. Their leader and his second-in-command are no ordinary bandits—they have dark magic on their side. I barely escaped with my life."
Ray clenched his fists. "Then we'll find them and make sure they pay for what they did to you."
Rhyuji's eyes widened. "You would help me?"
Ray smiled. "Of course. You're Rheana's brother, and now you're my friend."
With renewed resolve, Ray and Rhyuji set off to track down the Ash Fangs. After days of following clues, they finally reached the bandits' hideout deep within a mountain pass. As they prepared to face the bandits, Rhyuji hesitated.
"They're stronger than they look," Rhyuji warned. "Be careful."
Ray grinned, drawing his sword. "I've been training with the best. Let's take them down."
The battle against the Ash Fangs was fierce. Ray and Rhyuji fought side by side, but the bandits' leader and his vice-leader proved formidable. Dark magic enhanced their strength and speed, and for a while, it seemed Ray and Rhyuji might be overwhelmed.
But as Ray blocked a powerful strike with his shield, an idea struck him. "Rhyuji! Channel your holy magic into my sword!"
Without hesitation, Rhyuji touched Ray's blade, infusing it with a bright, purifying light. With renewed strength, Ray launched a counterattack, breaking through the dark magic and defeating the leader with a decisive blow.
Rhyuji, using his Holy Sword, finished off the vice-leader with a swift, radiant strike. The remaining bandits fled, and the two stood victorious.
Breathing heavily, Ray looked at Rhyuji with a grin. "Looks like we make a pretty good team."
Rhyuji smiled back. "You saved me. I owe you my life."

After their victory, Ray and Rhyuji continued their journey together. Their next destination was the Village of Brightforge, a place known for its skilled craftsmen and weapon forgers. As they approached the village, they were greeted by the sight of glowing forges and the sound of hammers on metal.
"I must have dropped it when we were fighting the bandits," Ray realized, feeling frustrated.
As they wandered the village, they met Amy, a high-spirited girl with boundless energy. She approached them eagerly. "Hey! Looking for new weapons? I can help you with that!"
Ray smiled, though he was concerned. "We're actually in a bit of a bind. I lost my wallet."
Amy's eyes sparkled. "No problem! I'll help you out. But there's one condition—I want to travel with you!"
Ray looked puzzled. "Travel with us? Why?"
Amy explained. "I've always wanted to travel, but my father, one of the best blacksmiths here, won't let me go alone. I've tried to join other travelers, but they find me too noisy. But I'm not giving up! So won't you accept me?!
Ray chuckled. "Well, if you're up for an adventure, we'd be glad to have you."
They spent a week in Brightforge. During this time, Amy enthusiastically talked about her dream to travel and showed Ray the intricacies of weapon forging. She had a vast collection of handmade weapons in her storage box and promised Ray a new sword and shield.
On the last day, Amy presented Ray with a finely crafted sword that was both sharp and exceptionally light, and a high-durability shield that was both sturdy and well-balanced. Ray was impressed and grateful.
"These are incredible," Ray said, admiring the craftsmanship. "Thank you, Amy."
Amy beamed with pride. "I'm glad you like them. I'll miss my family, but this is a chance I've always wanted."
Ray and Rhyuji accompanied Amy to her home to say goodbye. Amy's father, initially hesitant, was concerned for her safety. However, seeing Ray's genuine commitment and Amy's determination, he eventually gave his blessing.
"Take care of her," he told Ray. "She's more than just a skilled craftsman's daughter. She's a valuable person."
With Amy joining their team, Ray, Rhyuji, and Amy set out for their next destination. They planned to head towards the mystical realm of Elforia, a place known for its enigmatic witch Miria, who was reputed to be able to create powerful magic and potions far beyond the capabilities of ordinary magic users.
