To your considerable irritation, the birthdate on the ID is the same year as your real birthday, which means you can't get into most bars. And it's a state ID, not a driver's license. (You can't drive anyway.) But this will let you move around in both the real world and online. You just need some credit.
Now that you have some money and an ID, you walk down to the bank in the middle of town and set up an account for yourself.
They give you a little blue debit card and call you "sir" and everything; it's like staying at the Ritz for the ten minutes it takes you to fill out paperwork. Then, armed with your new debit card, you consider what to buy once you have some money. You've thought about three things that would make your life easier.
First, a bike would save you an enormous amount of time and effort getting around town, especially during the day when turning into a wolf risks exposure. A bike would give you the time and extra energy you need to focus on physical training and development.
Second, you could really use a laptop. Any kind of research or writing on your iPhone is a huge pain. You can score a used Macbook for a couple hundred dollars, and that would let you focus on intellectual pursuits.
Third, you think from your bedroom, which contains a bed with one blanket and one pillow, you could furnish your cabin. College kids are always throwing stuff out, and between consignment shops and dumpster diving, you could probably furnish this place with a week of digging around and not too much money. Curtains and plates won't help you in your spiritual duties, but they would help you feel more social and civilized.
And of course, there's the heat. No one has fixed it and, you suspect, no one is going to.
I need to fix my heat so I don't have to waste time and energy chopping wood.
I buy a laptop so I can open up more than one Wikipedia page at a time.
I get a bike so I have more energy at the end of the day for bettering myself physically.
I acquire house furnishings so I'm no longer living like a goblin.
