In the city of Cambridge, lived a londoner girl named Amy Allen Johnson, she was 9 years old, she born on September 30, 1929, she had short blonde hair and light brown eyes, she took a trip to her grandmother's house, and lasted eight months.
On the first of April 1939 Amy woke up and went to have breakfast her grandmother Mary was sitting and said
— Amy, I phoned your father today, and today you're going back to London!
— What? Why? — Amy said indignantly.
— It's past time for you to come back, it's been a year!
— It's only been eight months!
— It's all the same to me!
— Oh, okay! — Amy murmure.
Amy went to the room, got her things, sat on the chair in the room and rested her head on the table, soon someone knocked on the door, Amy went to answer it and when she saw it, it was her best friend, Elly Stanley Walter Johnson, when she entered she asked
— The Mr Edwards hasn't arrived yet?1
— No! — Amy replied.
As soon as Amy said that, the Mr. Charlies Edwards has arrived, Elly has classes together with Amy, because they were neighbors and they had classes with the same Professor, and became best friends, Elly lives with her aunt named Susan (her father's sister) Elly lived with Susan one year like Amy, they got to know each other very quickly, after class as soon as Mr. Edwards finished leaving, Elly asked Amy
— Amy! are we going to that wheat field?
— Let's go! — Amy replied.
They ran to a wheat plantation at the end of the street, entered the plantation and heard a noise when they looked up they saw a aeroplane and Amy started running following the aeroplane, when Amy coud no longer keep up with the aeroplane, she stopped running and Elly too, so when they got back home, at door Elly's aunt's house she said
— Amy! tomorrow I'm moving to my father's house, I'm going back to London! — said Elly.
— Really?!, I'm also going my grandmother forced me to go today!
— Really?!, I'm glad you're going!, maybe I can go with you today!
— Great! my father is coming, I think it will be good to see him again! — said Amy.
— It sure will! — said Elly.
— Yesterday I read the newspaper, and several men are enlisting!
— Yes... including my father!
— Did your father enlist?
— It's been a while since the beginning of this month, he told me on the phone, and he said there are a lot of posters encouraging people to enlist!
— Wow! — said Amy admired.
— And that book you were reading, it's been good?, it's...
— Men on the battlefield?!, it's been great!
— Well, I better go in I need to convince my aunt to let me go with you today, are you going after lunch?
— Yes, see you later!
— Until!
Amy went in at your grandmother's house, went up the stairs to room and packed her bags, during lunch Mary said
— Amy! I have to go to a store, right after lunch!
— Okay, so this is what I'm going to tell my dad? — Amy asked — Yes! — she replied.
— Elly is also going to move to London! — Amy said.
— Yes, her aunt told me! — Marry said.
— Maybe she can go with me and my father!
— That would be great! — said Mary.
After lunch, Amy said goodbye to Mary and waited outside, with her bags on the stairs, a few minutes passed and Amy saw a car arriving, Amy got up and when she saw a man get out of the car, she realized it was the her father, Jack, Amy was approaching him slowly and when he was close he hugged her, right after he said
— Get your things! — he said.
— Ok!, oh, dad the Elly is also going to London, can she go with us? — Amy asked.
— Of course! — Jack agreed.
— My grandmother had to leave so she's not here in case you want to talk to her! — Amy took her bags, and went to the taxi with her father and Elly, they went to the railway and took the train to London when they arrived in another railroad Elly's father was there Amy and Elly said goodbye and Elly left, and Amy went to her new house, took another taxi, when they got home Amy remembered perfectly how everything was, a two story house and she was very beautiful, Jack asked Amy
— Do you remember what the house looks like?
— I remember every little brick between the walls! — she said.
— Oh!
— Still soldier? — Amy asked.
— No, I left! — replied Jack.
— What a shame! Isn't being a soldier one of the best professions?I read that in a newspaper once.
— Perhaps! Don't believe everything you read.
When Amy entered the house, it was more beautiful inside than outside, inside the house there was a hallway to the living room, in the living room was Mike, Harry and Hannah playing chess, Amy thought they were very different from the last time she saw them, they got up from the couch, and looked at her with a surprised looked, then she approached them and the three of them hugged her at the same time, Hannah showed her the house and as they walked she was going saying
— This is the kitchen, and the back door from the kitchen faces the backyard
As they climbed the stairs, Hannah continued — This is my father's room, this is our brother Mike's room and the one next door is Harry's, this is my room and the one next door is yours!
Amy went into the room, left her suitcase on the floor and looked room up and down Hannah screamed
— Amy come!
She went to Hannah and Hannah finished showing
— Here is the bathroom, and only your room that has that window that you can see outside, Amy, do you speak French?— Hannah asked and was thoughtful
— Ouais (yes), and German too! — replied Amy.
— Hah, do you speak German too?!
— Quel agê as—tu? (how old are you?)
— dix ans et toi? (ten years and you?)
— I'ai neuf ans, quel agê ont mes freres? (I am nine years old, how old are my brothers?)
— ils ont dix huit ans (They are eighteen years old)
— Déjà! ie pensais qu'ils avaient seize ans (already! I thought they were sixteen years old)
— So, I found out you had a very close friend!
— Yes, her name is Elly, she is nine years old, her birthday is one month before mine
— Elly?! do you know her full name?
— Yes! Elly Stanley Walter Johnson!
— Is her father in the navy?
— Yes, why?1
— She lives on the top street, which has a black railing!
Amy ran until door and opened on her way out, Hannah screamed
— Amy, where are you going?
— To Elly's house! — Amy replied.
Amy ran to Elly's house and she knocked on the door but no one answered she knocked again and Elly opened the door and, confused, asked
— Amy? How did you find my house?
— Hannah told me you're living here so I came!
— What?! How does she know I live here?
— Me too, I don't know, I have to go back more, are you going to school tomorrow?
— I go! — Amy replied.
— See you there then, see you around Elly!
— See you around Amy!
Amy ran home, but on the way she bumped into her friend Frency, who had blond hair and blue eyes, whom she knew in Cambridge, and he said surprised
— Amy?!
— Hi Frency! — said Amy surprised too.
— So how are things going?
— Everything is going well, was at Elly's house right now!
— What do you mean you live in London too?
— Now I'm living with my father! — Amy replied.
— So, you came to London, are you enjoying it? — Amy asked.
— Of course I am, well I have to go tomorrow are you going to school?
— Unfortunately I will!
— See you there Amy!
— Okay bye!
— Bye!
Amy came home and said to them in the kitchen
— I arrived!
— Next time try to go slower, but now take a shower! — Jack said.
— Okay sorry! — Amy said.
