Leaving the study, the four went to the second floor of the estate. It did not take them long to arrive at Melody's room, but when they did, the door was locked.
"I think it best if Magi goes in alone. I doubt she would want to speak with anyone but him right now," Alucard said
"...As much as I hate it you're right. I will leave my daughter to you. But understand something if you harm her I will do everything in my power to kill you," Alexander said clenching his fist
"Trust me I won't let anything happen to her; you have nothing to fear," Magi said walking up to the door
'Knock Knock Knock'
"I said I don't want to speak with any of you," Melody said quietly from inside the room
"Not even me; and here I thought we were friends," Virgil teased
After that, some ruffling could be heard from the other side of the door, and a few seconds later it opened but Melody did not show her face.
"Come in," she said standing behind the door
Walking through the door Virgil was surprised when the door slammed and Melody hugged him tightly.
"Hey kid how you doing?" Virgil asked rubbing her hair
"Well I just found out that Vampires are real and that I have a curse on me so how do you think," Melody replied her face buried into Virgil's chest
"I know I'm sorry you had to find out this way," Virgil with sorrow in his voice
"Can I leave with you? I...I don't wanna be here anymore," Melody asked
"I'm sorry I can't take you for your safety and the fact that I can't take you away from your parents," Virgil replied
"But they kept the fact I was dying away from me my whole life. The reason I have always been sick is, the reason I could never play with my siblings or go to school until last year. The reason they could never look me in my eyes when they spoke to me Why...why should I stay?!!!" Melody yelled tears streaming from her face
"Because no matter how many faults they may seem to have they are your parents they did everything they could to remove this curse. All they felt was shame knocking that they kept failing," Virgil said whipping her tears
"...I...I get that but it doesn't change the fact that they hid it from me and that I don't have much time left," Melody said sitting on her bed her head hung low in defeat.
"No it's not over yet; didn't I tell you I would always protect you I mean that," Virgil said placing a hand on her shoulder
"What do you mean?" Meldoy asked
"I can heal you. Remove the curse and even make you stronger. But you have to promise me something," Virgil said kneeling to meet her gaze
"If you can heal me I will do anything. I just want to be normal," Meldoy said with hopeful eyes
"Try to forgive your parents," Virgil said
"Forgive them how can I forgive them for what they did?!" Melody said her voice filled with anger and her hands clenched
"I know it won't be easy but they love you. More than you know. They are willing to do everything to heal you so try to forgive," Virgil said trying to comfort her
"...I I will try but I don't promise anything," Melody said calming down a little
"Alright, that's all I ask. Now hold your hands out and close your eyes," Virgil said holding his palms out
Taking a deep breath Melody placed her hands on Virgil's palms and closed her eyes.
Closing his eyes Virgil activated his mana vision. Once he did he could feel the mana within him and around him.
Blocking out the mana around him he focused on himself and Melody. It was difficult at first but he was able to sense the mana within her.
Unlike the mana around him which was blue and untouched, hers was a dark purple mist that kept absorbing the mana around her. It seemed to be getting stronger as it did this.
From what he could tell the dark mana spread to her whole body the only two places untouched were her heart and Brain.
(It spread much more than I guessed) Virgil thought as sweat ran down his brow
Refocusing he began looking for the center of the mist. At first, it seemed like a dense mist but as his mana came into contact with it it became more like a boulder no matter what he tried he could not pass through the mist.
"Melody I'm going to do something and it might hurt," Virgil warned
"Please just do what you have to I can handle it," Melody replied
With that, Virgil began condensing his mana into poles of mana energy. With hundreds surrounding the dense mist, he started launching them at the mist.
Each collision released a dense wave of energy that caused things in the room to fall over. As more collisions happened the power of the energy waves increased. On the fifth wave, Melody was sweating and her face winched in pain.
By the sixth wave the pressure blew and shattered her windows and she released a welp of pain.
"AHH, V-v it hurts,"
On the seventh collision, the pressure started to break objects in her room at the same time Melody released another louder scream of pain that caused the other to start banging on the door.
"Melody...Meldoy honey are you okay," Alexander asked concern in his voice
On the eighth collision, the first crack in the dense mist appeared prompting Virgil to increase the number of poles and refine them.
On the ninth collision, the dense mist cracked more but Melody coughed up and small amount of blood and pressure threw the door open, and launched the others into the wall.
"What the hell? MELDOY!!!" Alexander screamed seeing the blood
"Alexander don't he is doing it I can feel the curse getting weaker," Alucard said
"V it...it hurts, "Meldoy said fear in her voice
"I know the kid I'm almost there just hold on," Virgil replied infusing the poles with his flames
On the tenth collision, the mist shattered in half releasing a dark wave of magic that filled the room.
"Found you," Virgil said opening his eyes
Looking up he was the shadow of a reaper hovering over Melody with a blade at her neck and an almost empty hourglass in its other hand.
Reaching out her placed his palm on Melody's chest which now showed a dark marking of his skull within an hourglass.
Using all his remaining mana Virgil began burning away the mark. At the same time, the reaper released a scream that caused the other to cover their ears in pain.
Increasing the heat Virgil watched as the reaper slowly began to light on fire but at the same time, Melody began bleeding from her mouth and ears.
"Hold on Melody I'm almost there," Virgil said with a weak voice
Placing his other hand on her head he forced his fire to split. Once focused on healing Melody while the other focused on burning away the curse.
"You mere human, do you truly believe you can kill me," the reaper spoke pointing its finger at Virgil
Ignoring the reaper Virgil focused on removing the curse. As the fire spread on the Reaper, the black marking began burning away but Virgil realized that he was running out of mana faster than the curse was burning away.
{Virgil you won't be able to complete this with your remaining mana}
(Purchase two mana potions and use them) Virgil ordered
{But what about your mana cores?}
(I said to them I will deal with that later!) Virgil yelled
The next moment Virgil felt the mana in his body fill up to half way. Even though it wasn't full it would be enough. It would have to be enough.
"Human you and the girl will both die in this meaning less fight," The reaper laughed
"Shut your mouth your damned spirit," Virgil said increasing his flames past their limit
As he did the flames began glowing hotter and burning the air around him making it hard to breathe. At the same time, it began burning his hands causing his health to drop.
[Warning the host is using his skill past its limit Burn damage it being taken]
[Warning Burn damage is being taken]
[Warning Burn damage is being taken]
[Warning Burn damage is being taken]
"System mute!!" Virgil yelled continuing to burn away the curse
As the mark got closer to burning away the reaper who was now mostly burned away spoke.
"You may have stopped me now but my masters will have their revenge. Know what your days are marked," The reaper laughed as it burned away leaving nothing behind
