"Thank you...I hope we work well," Virgil replied, putting on a fake smile
"Wel,l with that don,e I would like to see what you can d,o child," Diana said
"I would also be interested," Clark added
"Seems fair. How about a fair for you to demonstrate your skills?" Zantanna said
"A duel between magic users sounds fun," Jamie added
"Fine, but I will tell you now. Since you seemed more experienced than me, I won't be holding back," Virgil replied
"I wouldn't expect any less than your best," Zatanna grinned
"Alright we can head down to the training room," Dick said
"Great, by the way, Batman..."
Before Aqualad could finish what he wanted to say batman had disappeared the only ones realizing being Clark, dick, and Virgil.
"Yeah, he left after Virgil agreed to join," Superman laughed
"Bloody hell, he has got to teach me that," John sighed
As the group followed behind Superman, they made their way to the large training area where a few heroes were sparring with each other.
"What's going on here?" Black canary asked
"Oh yeah, Superman told me that the young ones would be getting a new member," Green Arrow replied
"Must be the kid in the robe...he seems thin, don't you think?" Green Lantern added
"Maybe, but if Batman had to ask for John to help him, then the kid must be something," Replied Martian Manhunter
"What do you think they are doing here?" Green Arrow asked
"I think the new kid is sparring with the magic girl," Black Canary replied
"Alright, remember, you two, it's just a friendly spar. Don't use all your strength," Superman said
"Wait, no offense to Zantanna, but if he is going to join the team, we need to test his current limits. I believed it would be best if he sparred against Connor or myself," Starfire said
"I agree a friendly spar is a waste of time," Aqualad agreed
"...fine, but I still want my spar later," Zatanna said, winking at Virgil and stepping out of the ring
"I have no problem with it," Connor said, walking into the ring
"Alright, but Connor, remember control," Superman said, standing in between the two
Taking a step back, Superman began counting down from five to one.
(Sabastian, what would be my best course of action?) Virgil asked during the countdown
{Right now, you have no chance of winning. But to do some damage, use all your mana on the shock skill to increase its output to the max}
Once Superman reached one, Virgil coated his legs in mana and dashed forward, closing a ten-meter distance within a second.
Reaching his hand out, he was about to activate shock when Connor moved to the side and gently pushed Virgil, causing him to miss
"He's fast but it won't be enough," Dick said watching the fight
Turning around, Virgil increased the mana, strengthening his legs, and charged at Connor. This time, he jumped into the air.
As he was coming down, he expanded his barrier and increased its strength. Since this had caught Connor by surprise, he fell to his knee.
"What is this?" Connor says, confused by the force pushing him down.
"What happened? Connor just fell to his knees?" Diana asked
"Don't look at me; this kid is full of surprises," John said, just as surprised
Once he reached a few inches from Connor, he stopped his barrier. Using all his remaining mana, he activated shock and sent all his electricity running through Connor's body.
As the magic electricity shocked Connor, he yelled out in pain, and at the same time, Virgil's vision began to blur as he depleted his mana. Confused by how the electricity was hurting him, Connor flew up into the air, causing Virgil to fall to the floor, but the next moment, he fell back down to his knees, his body still in shock.
While Connor was stunned, Virgil focused on absorbing the mana around him. With some energy, he rushed to Connor and was about to shock him again, but Connor was repaired and grabbed both of his arms.
"Not again," Connor said with a grin
"I'm not down yet," Virgil said
Focusing all of his mana into his legs, he jumped up, his arms still being held by Connor. With all the force he could muster, he brought down his leg onto Connor's head. But this did not affect him; he only stood there unfazed.
{Virgil, I recommend you stop and recover your mana. Having depleted mana for long could damage you} Sabastian warned
"Alright, both of you, stop. Virgil, I can tell you're basically out of energy, and, Connor, your body is still trying to process the energy flowing through it. More fighting could hurt the both of you," Superman explained
"Well, that was not what I expected. The kid's got skills," Green Arrow said
"Yeah, but what was that energy he used? Was it not normal electricity?" Black lightning asked
"It was magic. I don't know where you learned this from, but that magic is something I have never seen before," Zatanna said, rushing up to Virgil
"Yes, the last time I saw magic like this it was...never mind, I must be imagining it," Diana said before cutting her off,"
"Alright, Virgil, we are good to go. From what I can tell you have an above-average battle sense but your combat could use work and I would recommend getting a weapon that will boost your magic range," Dick explained
(Damn it I have been focused on defense why didn't I think about increasing my attack range) Virgil thought to himself
{Don't worry, Virgil. I took the data from this fight, and the System will create a Mission to suit your improvements best} Sabastian explained
