Sunny's mind was in shambles. He stood in front of the mirror, wearing a black suit with V-shaped pockets, a small bowtie, and black gloves. The lower half consisted of black pants held up by a black belt, the pants ending in a semi-circular shape. The pockets were slightly larger—big enough to hold the length of a knife. That's what Sunny was looking at himself in the mirror.
He stepped back and fumbled with the bowtie.
"Maybe like this?"
Sunny gulped, running his hand through his hair to push the stray strands away from his face. He slid his hand back, looking into the mirror, and froze.
"Shit, I'm ugly."
He sighed, letting the hair flop back over his face. Awakened people were supposed to get more beautiful, but to him, his face was still that of an ugly bastard. He glanced at his reflection, remembering the mirror in the room of the girl he once occupied. A slight frown appeared as he adjusted the pocket square on his left and headed towards the door.
"This suit costs too much for something so simple."
"Hmm... hmm... you actually look nice for once."
Effie nodded as she checked out Sunny's suit.
"Well... thank you."
Sunny replied in a somber tone, causing Effie to glare at him.
"Oi, no woman's going to like you if you keep that tone. I might end up being an aunt soon thanks to Kai, but I want to see some little devils from your side too! Sadly, the princess isn't ar—"
Effie cut herself off, realizing what she had said.
Sunny glared at her, then sighed, shaking his head.
"Chances of someone falling for me are slim, so sorry to break your dream."
"Sunny... I—"
"I know, don't worry."
Effie fell quiet, looking away with an apologetic expression. Seeing her face, Sunny's anger softened a bit.
"Don't forget to heat the food before eating."
He spoke with a mix of sternness and softness.
"Yes... I will."
Effie nodded like a child being scolded. Sunny smiled slightly and ruffled her hair. It felt odd, given that even while sitting in a wheelchair, her head was almost as tall as his chest.
"I'm not a child—"
Effie grabbed his wrist.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch! I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
Sunny apologized as Effie grinned.
"Good! You should be sorry. Now, go and get with that chick you're going to the ball with!"
Sunny was about to retort when he noticed an SUV pull into the street.
"Oh, she's here."
Effie's eyes widened, and she wheeled herself towards the door.
Sunny followed.
In the garden, a woman with black hair and night-blue eyes leaned against the car. She wore a black suit with two buttons undone, revealing a modest cleavage, and a semi-long white coat draped over her shoulders. Her red heels gleamed in the evening light. She glanced at her watch, smirking as she saw Effie and Sunny emerge from the house.
"Ohh~~ look who got all dressed up for a date."
Jet teased, giving Sunny a brief once-over.
Sunny froze. Not because of Jet's outfit—he knew she wasn't the type to wear dresses, much less a short skirt—but because of what was about to come from Effie. His nightmare came true.
"Dofus, you should change into a princess dress."
Sunny clenched his teeth, covered his face with his hand, and sighed deeply as Jet started walking toward them. Effie unleashed her barrage of questions:
"Dofus, who's this MILF?"
"Can I call her mommy?"
"Since when did you learn how to pull girls?"
"Holy shit, can I call her mommy?"
"Dofus, please, I want to see two girls and one boy, okay?"
Jet arrived in front of them, raising an eyebrow as she looked at Effie and asked,
"Is this your mom?"
Effie froze. Her brain practically stopped working at being called a mom. For this depressive-looking, emo, hot boy? Of course, her thoughts were the opposite of Sunny's and Jet's intentions.
Sunny covered his mouth and turned away, trying to suppress his laughter. He hit his chest lightly, then spoke.
"No... she's—pff... my friend."
He gulped, taking a breath.
"Effie, this is Jet. Jet, this is—"
"Raised by wolves?" Jet smirked.
"Sorry, I was... a bit surprised to see you like this, but I can sense the vast power and raw strength you have. Nice to meet you, I'm Jet."
Jet offered her hand for a handshake.
Effie, still a bit stunned, slowly nodded and accepted it.
Sunny sighed, walking toward the car.
"We don't have much time, so let's go."
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Effie teased.
"Indeed," Jet added.
Sunny glanced over his shoulder at the two women. He mentally checked to see if he had forgotten something, then said,
"No, I don't—"
He paused. He was sure Effie would lash out at him for saying that, so he thought a bit more, straightened up, and looked at Jet.
"You... look beautiful?"
"Close enough." Jet chuckled as she raised her hand, shaking the keys she held.
"You forgot this."
She gently tossed the keys to Sunny. Despite his scrambled mind, Sunny's body was in full health, and on instinct, he caught the keys.
"Right..."
He muttered, looking slightly annoyed as both Jet and Effie burst into laughter.
He was in for a long night.
'It's fine... I'll feel better after I see Cassie alone, suffering from the fact that she has no partner.'
Once again, Sunny had forgotten who told him that Cassie would actually be there.
