Nakamura leaned over Kazuo's bed, scanning the various monitors and readouts surrounding the patient. He reached for the man's wrist, checking his pulse while glancing at the heart rate monitor.
"Nurse, what's his current temperature?" he asked, not looking up from his task.
A young woman in scrubs stepped forward, consulting a chart. "38.2 degrees Celsius, Doctor. It's been holding steady for the past hour."
Nakamura nodded, releasing Kazuo's wrist. "Good. Let's keep a close eye on that. Any fluctuations, even minor ones, I want to know immediately."
He moved to the foot of the bed, picking up Kazuo's chart and flipping through it. His brow furrowed as he read, occasionally muttering under his breath.
"Doctor?" Another nurse approached, holding a tablet. "The latest blood work results are in."
Nakamura set down the chart and took the tablet, scrolling through the data. His eyes widened, then narrowed. "Interesting. Very interesting indeed."
