Gwen pushed forward, ignoring the ache in her legs and the sting of dust in her throat. She kept the flashlight steady, its beam cutting through the haze as she honed in on where she thought Kazuo's voice had come from. Why was he down here? Hadn't he been taken? How the hell did he get away—if he had gotten away?
Colette was trailing behind her, still muttering questions she didn't have the patience to answer.
"What the fuck was that thing? You saw it, right? That wasn't just me?" she called out, keeping pace despite the uneven ground.
"I saw it," Gwen snapped without turning. "Hard not to notice an eight-foot freak smashing through walls."
"That wasn't normal," Colette said. "Not even for us."
