Gwen descended first, stepping into the tunnel as the faint beam from her phone's flashlight carved a narrow path through the darkness.
The air was damp and heavy, carrying a faint copper tang that hinted at long-abandoned infrastructure. She didn't look back to see if Colette was following; the Frenchwoman's presence was marked by the soft glow of her own phone and the occasional shuffle of movement behind her.
"What's the status on your map?" Gwen asked.
"Nothing," Colette replied. "No schematics. Either this tunnel isn't documented, or someone made sure it never was."
"So we're blind?"
"Not blind. Just... old-fashioned."
"Yeah, well, old-fashioned sucks," Gwen shot back, scanning her light over the crumbling walls. She wasn't sure what she'd hoped to find—markings, signs, anything—but all she got in return was blank concrete and corroded metal pipes. "This shit looks endless."
